"The working title for 'Dancing Shadow' was 'Disco Tiger.' Musically it represents catchiness and hooks that have been familiar elements within our music for a long time. Sound-wise it came out pretty fresh and even modern. I bet this song will shake your legs on the dance floor - in a METAL disco, of course," states guitarist Esa Holopainen.

Drummer Jan Rechberger adds: "With 'Dancing Shadow,' we stepped into completely new territory. For a band with over three decades behind us, that kind of reinvention feels meaningful."

========= Historic Fact ==========

Miyamoto Musashi, born in 1584 in Harima, was a legendary samurai who dedicated his life to the warrior’s path. He fought and won over 60 duels, starting with his first at age 13. His most famous victory was against Sasaki Kojiro, whom he defeated with a single strike using a wooden sword. Musashi developed the “Niten Ichi-ryū” style, which focused on using two swords in harmony, blending physical skill with spiritual philosophy. Beyond combat, he also practiced calligraphy, ink painting and the tea ceremony, believing in the importance of cultivating the warrior’s spirit through the arts.

"When we were originally writing this song, we wanted to write a dark, almost… ethereal serene-like song. The goal was to give listeners that similar feeling to the one you get when watching the movie Interstellar. Specifically, we thought of the ‘Miller’s planet’ scene. The Endurance crew venture to a planet in search of resources/data only to arrive and find a desolate world. Despite it being serene, it is ultimately sterile- setting the crew back from their original goal. This ends up filling the crew with a sense of dread as they begin to realize that even one’s best efforts can still often end in vain.

I wanted to capture that feeling in this song lyrically in a way that we can all relate to. I was imagining a post-apocalyptic world in the (hopefully distant) future. A world where we have sown the seeds of our own destruction. The song starts with a description of what we have done (as humans) to the earth. The idea that we wished for better, hoped we were doing something that would help save us in this dying world, only to end up accelerating its inevitable destruction. We, as people, always wish to do right by our standards. This brings up the question; what is right? Do we even know what we’re doing? What have we done to try and actually change anything? Are we watering the earth or just feeding a constantly growing fire?

Writing this song felt like the culmination of all the things that we’ve done in the past, but brought to the next level; a more evolved version of what Lorna Shore truly is." - WILL RAMOS

“Making this record lit a fire under my ass and made me rethink everything,” admits Jesse. “It had to be next level. It had to be different enough for people to really recognize we’re putting forth an effort—or what’s the point of doing this? There was no repeating ourselves. It was very carefully planned out and passionately written. It sounds like Killswitch, yet there’s also a fresh spirit to it.” This time around, the group emphasized working together face-to-face in a Massachusetts rehearsal spot. The process enabled them to apply the pressure on every element. At the collective urging of his bandmates, Jesse poured over his words like never before. “We pushed him to do more vocal demos and were super tough on him,” recalls Adam. “He was so open to feedback though, and he definitely got the lyrics right. I love it when he and I are face-to-face, and ideas are flying around. We work especially well together when we’re in the heat of the moment. All of the demoing made for a better record, and there was so much communication between all of the band members.” “It felt like everyone put a ton of effort into this,” Mike adds. “It’s the first time since Alive Or Just Breathing that we really hashed everything out together in the same room. It was a combined effort, and there are even some things you’ve never heard from Killswitch.” “I never considered myself to be a part of mainstream society,” he goes on. “I’ve always been in the middle. To me, this record is about the consequences of our actions as humans as we engage in war, hatred, division, and falling in line with control. History repeats itself. We’re going to have to answer for our actions—whether it’s how we treat the earth or each other. There will be an uprising and a backlash from nature. Cause-and-effect is a driving theme. We will face a consequence.”
