J. Cole's full interview on Hart to Heart is streaming now on Peacock: https://pck.tv/3AdrWFY

Up Next: Bill Maher. Plus, catch up on seasons 1-2 featuring interviews with Saweetie, Simu Liu, Jay-Z and more.

J. Cole tells Kevin about his brief struggles with ego in his late 20's, thinking he wasn’t getting enough appreciation or recognition as an artist. J. Cole then delves into his rules of self-control when using social media and his experience in practicing transcendental meditation. (Season 3 Episode 8).

Synopsis: Armed with his insatiable curiosity, lightning wit and vintage wine, Kevin Hart sits down to interview A-list guests in the comfort of his virtual wine cellar for an uninterrupted hour of insight, truth, enlightenment and of course, some humor. Hart to Heart will dig deep to find out what makes these world class influencers tick, their goals and aspirations, their journey to stardom, and the obstacles they overcame to reach their lofty status.

LYRICS

Dancing with angels
But still I am blind
(I am blind)
Seeking for comfort
In everything that I find
Heaven seems empty
cold and calm
(So cold and calm)
Above the ground
Never coming down
(I’m never coming down)

Drown me now
Guide me to the sky
In the absence of you
I’ll never know
(How)

With you I don’t need to escape
I want to die right here
Wrapped in our sheets
I travel with the night
Dim eyes, without sight
Above the ground
never coming down
(I’m never coming down)

Drown me now
Guide me to the sky
In the absence of you
I’ll never know
(How)

I travel with the night
Dim eyes, without sight
In the absence of you
I’ll never know
(How)

The official music video for Fiddlestix "Apple Moonshine"
APPLE MOONSHINE
It’s five o’clock and I’m punching out, this long weekend’s what it’s all about
Got to get home soon, so I can show and shine, get ready for a good time
Got my bag all packed and out the door, gonna hit that corner liquor store
A taste of Moonshine, gonna get me some, cottage country here we come

The lake’s so calm, the sky’s so blue,
can’t find a better place, than to be here with you

Chorus:
You know I like that sweet wine summertime, down by the lake with that girl of mine
Nothing to do just wasting time, sweet summertime
Apple Moonshine, splash of lime, strumming my sixer with some friends of mine
Kicking it through till the morning light, sweet summertime

Sun is shining as I hit the gas, wanna get there quick to make a good time last,
Weekends with your friends is such a blast, my barefeet gonna touch that grass,
Lake is cool, sun is hot a few drinks are gonna hit the spot,
The whole gangs here and that’s quite a lot, I think you know what I mean...

featuring special guest Wayne DeAdder on second electric guitar and guitar solo (unavailable for video shoot)

Lyrics:

I will wait for you
Til the sun turns into ashes
And bows down to the moon
I will wait for you

It’s a long hard war
Ah but I can grin and bare it
Cause I know what the hell I’m fighting for
And I will wait for you

We were never made to run forever
We were just meant to go long enough
To find what we were chasing after
I believe I found it here in your love

I will stand my ground
I’m a bad man looking for takers
You’re the finest thing around
So I will stand my ground

Cause it’s cold out there
And you know some men search for ages
For the love that I have found
So I will stand my ground

We were never made to run forever
We were just meant to go long enough
To find what we were chasing after
I believe I found it here in your love

Honey I will wait for you
Honey I will stand my ground

I will work for you
Til my hands are tired and bleedin’
I know what it is from us I’m needin’
I will work for you

Like a team of mules
Pulling Hell off from its hinges
It’s the love that I’ll keep tendin’
I will work for you

We were never made to run forever
We were just meant to go long enough
To find what we were chasing after
I believe I found it here in your love

Honey I will wait for you
Honey I will stand my ground
I will work for you
I will stand my ground

The best advice I ever got was just to let it go
Family says I smile a lot more when I’m on my own
But when I finally feel free
you get the urge to message me
Swear you never miss a beat
and the song is on repeat

I still see you in my sleep
How come I still see you when I dream
I been running from the truth
but it don’t matter what I do
It never matters what I do
I just can’t get away from you
Can’t get away from you

When you got a girl I got myself an enemy
Cuz I need all your attention like a centrepiece
And though we’re both trying to be friends
And though we’re both way past the end
of everything we could have been
My broken heart still lets you in

Good thing I never held my breath
I would have died an early death
Waiting for you to value me
Waiting for you fail my test (ya)
F is for faking love
F is for forgetting us
F is for feelings that faded while you fucked around and left me
down down down
With every girl that you found found found
I’m like Mary going down down down
You’re like a dog in a pound pound pound
Had me looking like a clown clown clown
Got me out here crying out loud
Especially when the sun go down
Hit me when the sun go down

🎥 by SHAWTY PUTT

Keefe D explains how Puffy took his empire down.

Bob Boilen | July 27, 2023
Peter One's tender voice has a storied past. His opening song, "Cherie Vico," the one that hooked me on his music, is a love song sung in Guro, the language of his homeland Ivory Coast in West Africa. He tells the NPR crowd, "That's where I started playing music a long time ago. I came to America in 1995 and I moved to Nashville a few years ago. So far, I've been working as a nurse, but now I'm back to my passion: music as my career."

These are passion-filled songs often with references and connections to his past. "Birds Go Die Out Of Site" tells the story of a friend also from the Ivory Coast and now living in America, who wants to go back home. "It wasn't the right time because the 2010 elections in the Ivory Coast were still causing some political problems," Peter One said. "My friend didn't listen to me. He went anyway. I got a phone call. My friend had died." And with a Southern blues tone, complete with harmonica, guitar, pedal steel and backing singers, Peter One continues the tale.

Peter One's songs shift from English to French to Guro. The two instrumentalists, Agustin Escalante and Luke Schneider (he was last here with Margo Price), are from Nashville, while the singers are from nearby the D.C. area. All the songs performed are from the 2023 album Come Back to Me, which brings him back to stardom after 30 years away from music. His last number is about reconciliation with his people of the Ivory Coast, but I can't help but think of his personal reunion with his inner soul.

What's an artist to do when, instead of standing and dancing before a stadium of adoring fans, she's instead sitting behind the Tiny Desk?

You do exactly what Puerto Rican vocalist Kany García does: dig deep into the intimacy of her songwriting and the musicality of one of the most distinctive voices in any form of Latin music.

The first track, "Para Siempre" perfectly embodies a seductive declaration of togetherness with lyrics like: "I want to be the desire that brings you home every night." In "Mundo Inventado," the full power of her songwriting has me lost in my feels, as she sings of the plight of all immigrants everywhere who leave the known for the unknown. (Where is my tissue? I have something in my eye.)

She closes the set with her song whose profane title can't be written out fully but is as common as the sound of traffic across Latin America: "DPM (De Pxta Madre)." In García's masterful hands it becomes a colorful way to express the ups and downs of emotions of even the briefest romantic episode.

If there was ever any doubt that García brings the skills of one of the best lyricists of Latin America to the world of Spanish pop music, this performance proves it. It feels like she is singing her very personal messages of desire and longing just for me.

Uh, I mean, for all of us.

A fight broke out in the audience on Saturday night, bringing a halt to Detroit’s Riverfront Music Festival. R&B singer Monica left the Hart Plaza stage to intervene after seeing a man hitting a woman. The singer yelled from the audience, “You don’t hit no f**kin’ lady like that.” The audience cheered as Monica was helped back up to the stage. #Detroit #CrimeInTheD ™
