Stevland Hardaway Morris (né Judkins; born May 13, 1950), known professionally as Stevie Wonder, is an American singer, songwriter, musician and record producer. A prominent figure in popular music during the second half of the 20th century, Wonder is one of the most successful songwriters and musicians. A virtual one-man band, his use of synthesizers and further electronic musical instruments during the 1970s reshaped the conventions of R&B. He also helped drive the genre into the album era, crafting his LPs as cohesive, consistent socially conscious statements with complex compositions. Wonder is often hailed as a "genius", and has been credited as a pioneer and influence to musicians of various genres including rhythm and blues, pop, soul, gospel, funk and jazz.

Blind since shortly after his birth, Wonder was a child prodigy known as Little Stevie Wonder, leading him to sign with Motown's Tamla label at the age of 11. In 1963, the single "Fingertips" was a number-one hit on the Billboard Hot 100 when Wonder was 13, making him the youngest artist ever to top the chart. Wonder's critical success was at its peak in the 1970s. His "classic period" began in 1972 with the releases of Music of My Mind and Talking Book, the latter featuring "Superstition", which is one of the most distinctive and famous examples of the sound of the Hohner Clavinet keyboard. His works Innervisions (1973), Fulfillingness' First Finale (1974) and Songs in the Key of Life (1976) all won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year, making him the tied-record holder for the most Album of the Year wins, with three. He is also the only artist to have won the award with three consecutive album releases.

Tears For Fears' 1985 hit "Everybody Wants to Rule The World" with lyrics below.

LYRICS:

Welcome to your life
There's no turning back
Even while we sleep
We will find you acting on your best behavior
Turn your back on Mother Nature
Everybody wants to rule the world

It's my own design
It's my own remorse
Help me to decide
Help me make the most
Of freedom and of pleasure
Nothing ever lasts forever
Everybody wants to rule the world

There's a room where the light won't find you
Holding hands while the walls come tumbling down
When they do I'll be right behind you
So glad we've almost made it
So sad they had to fade it
Everybody wants to rule the world

I can't stand this indecision
Married with a lack of vision
Everybody wants to rule the world
Say that you'll never never never never need it
One headline why believe it?
Everybody wants to rule the world

All for freedom and for pleasure
Nothing ever lasts forever
Everybody wants to rule the world

Rose Royce - Love don't live here anymore 1978

Chorus:
You abandoned me
Love don't live here anymore
Just a vacancy
Love don't live here anymore

When you lived inside of me
There was nothing I could conceive
That you wouldn't do for me
Trouble seemed so far away
You changed that right away, baby

You abandoned me
Love don't live here anymore
Just a vacancy
Love don't live here anymore

Love don't live here anymore
Just emptiness and memories
Of what we had before
You went away
Found another place to stay, another home

You abandoned me
Love don't live here anymore
Just a vacancy, babe
Love don't live here anymore

In the windmills of my eyes
Everyone can see the loneliness inside me
Why'd ya have to go away
Don't you know I miss you so and need your love

You abandoned me
Love don't live here anymore
Just a vacancy, babe
Love don't live here anymore

You abandoned me
Love don't live here anymore
Just a vacancy, babe
Love don't live here, live here no more
no no no

You abandoned me

The songs included in this set were all recorded in an era where the single preceded the LP. Do you remember 45's? The songs are ALL hits and recorded between 1964 and 1968 in what has become known as "The Classic Five Era". The Temptations at that time featured Paul Williams, David Ruffin, Eddie Kendricks, Melvin Franklin and Otis Williams. With Otis being the only surviving member. The album art shown is of the LP that the song appeared on and the scrolling captions describe the year the song was released as a single. I hope you enjoy this collection of Temptation hits. Indeed they were often imitated but never duplicated.

An excerpt from the recently released DVD of some of Marvin's greatest live performances on TV and film, "Real Thing: In Performance 1964-1981," This live performance comes from the long out-of-circulation 1973 film, "Save The Children" with James Jamerson on bass.

Lyrics
How did you know 'cause I never told
You found out,
Ive got a crush on you
No more charades,
My hearts been displayed,
You found out,
Ive got a crush on you

You must have heard it
From my best friend
Shes always talkin when she should be listenin
Cant keep a secret
To save her life
But still I trusted her with all I felt inside
I never knew, a rumor could spread so fast
(cause now the) Word is out!
All over town
That Im longing for you

Chorus
How did you know If i never told
You found out I've got a crush on you
No more sharades,
My hearts been displayed
You found out I've got a crush on you

Maybe I was the one who left the trace
Was there a message written on my face
One little emotion so easily read
That you would know my love before a word was said...
Was it my eyes that let you know you had control
Because the way you move
It was so self-assured
You knew I would surrender!

Chorus

0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o- - - - -

Chorus till fade

Lyrics:

[Verse 1:]
I hit the loose juice and pulls up in the deuce
He gives me the scoop about the fake ass truce
And how niggas out there wanna play
I take another hit of the wet and then I blast away
(How far, playa?)
Far enough to go off the edge
I push another nigga off the ledge
So I stumble as I slide to the Chevy
Yeah, my eyes kinda teary and gun kinda heavy
I'm a walking dead man is what they call me when I'm comin'
Got the big S on my chest, so I'm kinda gunnin'
High powered on my way to the West Side
To check upon on some chickens
It's a hell of a drive, so drive on
As I hit my dodo stick to the break of dawn
Crime fighting's what I do and niggas in my crew
Don't take lightly to you bustas and so we say, "Fuck you"
Then buck you, tuck you in for the night
As you think about the paper at the funeral site
So when I'm hangin' with the clique, and we in demand
I feel good that the city of angels call me black superman

[Hook:]
Now everybody sing
Black superman
Now everybody know
Black superman

[Interlude]
*phone rings*
[Hutch's answerphone:] "Yo this Hutch, I ain't in right now
But uh, leave a message at the beep
You know I'm out flossin' and tossin', dippin' and trippin'
You know what I'm sayin'?"
[KM.G:] "Aye Hutch man uh, they just leavin' yo mama's house, um, I don't know what they got but, um man, they lookin' for us, man
Call me over at Peach's house."
*hangs up phone*

[Verse 2:]
Now it was once said by an ol' loc G
Always tryna come up, yeah, and that's a G
Uh, cause when I bomb it's like a curse
Cause see, once in a lifetime everybody did some dirt
I guess it got to me the same
So at the age of 15, I entered the dope game
I had my game locked up tight
In the day I went to school, but I clocked all night
And when I went to class I always felt asleep
But I was out like a motherfucker, if somebody beeped
My teacher said, "Boy, can't it wait?"
I said, "No, I got to put some mo' icing on my cake."
I think I saved about 50 G's
I bought a truck, a house, and a Coupé on D's
Mom is trippin but she really don't know
All I'm thinkin' is she ain't on the county no mo'
Before my mama fucked with the county again
I'd rather take the risk of doin' 5 to 10
I’m not takin' them checks, I’m straight makin' them checks
So now we deserve to get what we wanna get
I got my mama up outta there
Because y'all motherfuckers just don't care
Uh, you really wanna know why I sold scum
Because my mama to me comes number one
Now you sucker motherfuckers don't understand
But to my mama, I'm her real Black Superman

[Hook:]
Now everybody know
Black superman
Now everybody sing
Black superman
