We’re Still Here: Johnny Cash’s Bitter Tears Revisited is a feature documentary based on Antonino D’Ambrosio’s critically acclaimed book A Heartbeat and a Guitar: Johnny Cash and the Making of Bitter Tears, which tells the astonishing story behind Cash’s little known concept album and his unique collaboration with folk artist Peter La Farge. With this still largely unknown recording, Cash placed himself in the middle of the fervent social upheavals gripping the nation at the time (many of which still enflame us in the present). Cash faced censorship and an angry backlash from radio stations, DJs, and fans, for speaking out on behalf of Native people on “Bitter Tears: Ballads of the American Indian.” He decided to fight back.

At the beginning of the 20th century, a new direction in music appeared in America. Although the word "jazz" came into use only in 1913, this music, distinguished by its loudness, audacity, and riot, was heard on the streets of New Orleans at least ten years earlier. Jazz possessed special rhythmic energy never seen before in folk music. In addition, jazz was bold and unpredictable - the same song sounded different with each performance, and this only made jazz attractive. The musicians improvised, following the inspiration and adapting the melody to the sounds of other instruments playing with them on stage.

Director Bill Keating built a programme around following Rory through a day of his short 1972 Irish tour. At the centre of the programme is a recording of the concert Rory played in the Savoy Cinema in Limerick on May 11th 1972.

We (the fan club) were thrilled when the BBC contacted us as they were doing a documentary about The Sound of Music and its star Julie Andrews. They had initially written to the Fan Club's address - my mother's - in Sweden, but as I had just moved to London, she gave them the new address. I quickly asked some fellow fans if they wanted to participate in the documentary.
So, 5 of us (Jean, Jenny, Richard, Ernesto and myself) met up with the producer Nicholas Jones to record how the movie and Julie had affected our lives. In the documentary you will see what we all said in the interview. Much as I love the movie, for me it was always Julie that I loved - unconditionally.

Paavo Järvi: The Estonian star conductor has rediscovered the four symphonies by Johannes Brahms. The film follows him and the orchestra at rehearsals, in the studio and at concerts and presents the highlights of the romantic masterpieces.

Paavo Järvi is principal conductor at both the NHK Symphony Orchestra in Tokyo and the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich - but his most intensive collaboration is with The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie in Bremen. Their collaborations have already inspired both press and audiences with dazzling interpretations of the symphonies of Ludwig van Beethoven and Robert Schumann. Now the conductor and orchestra are focusing exclusively on the four symphonies of Johannes Brahms. "That music - because it is so great - somehow is a soundtrack not only to the time when it was written but it is actually quite a valid soundtrack to our times as well." Järvi says. The charismatic conductor conveys his enthusiasm for the masterpieces and gives important information for understanding them. "There are little hidden codes, which is up to us to figure out what they mean."

The conductor and orchestra take a lot of time to reinterpret these well-known symphonies. "When I conduct Kammerphilharmonie or have conducted them in the last couple of years it’s only been Brahms," he says. "And the focus is so concentrated that it has become a second nature. In fact it’s almost a kind of religious ritual for the orchestra: There is always rehearsal before the concert. It doesn’t matter how many times we have done the piece. And these are the moments where you tweak, you do little things, you fine-tune... It’s a luxury that so few orchestras have." Thus the rehearsals have become a musical laboratory.

The Brahms Code is director Christian Berger’s the third collaboration with The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen and Paavo Järvi. The DW productions "Das Beethoven-Projekt” (2010) and "Schumann at Pier 2" (2012) have already delighted international audiences and won many awards.

Indus Blues is a musical feature documentary highlighting the plight of the folk musicians and craftsmen of Pakistan and the state of their dying art.

The film created waves in both local and international media upon the release of its trailer and initiated the much-needed debate about the radicalization of the society in Pakistan.

The film has already received recognition with nominations at CPH_DOX-Copenhagen, DOKUARTS-Berlin, DOKUFest-Kosovo, DOCEDGE-Netherlands, WOMEX, Regina International Film Festival and Guam International Film Festival respectively and winning the Grand Jury Prize for Best Documentary Feature Crystal Award in the latter. A journey spanning the 2,000-mile length of the Indus, it showcases the rich musical traditions across the diverse, and colorful cultures of Pakistan. The film not only presents their mesmerizing art but also shows the face of the underappreciated indigenous humanism in Pakistan.

Roots, Reggae, Rebellion Full BBC Documentary

The untold story of a wild rocker whose debauchery nearly prevented his meteoric rise to become one of the greatest television composers of all time.

On July 20, 2017, the universe lost one of it’s brightest stars. Chester Bennington didn’t have an easy childhood, but he did have talent. He was passionate about music, he was intelligent, and he made the people around him smile.

From an early age he was destined to become a star. His dream started in high school and he would bring hope to millions of lost souls around the world after he joined the hugely successful Nu-Metal band, Linkin Park, and this is their story.

Although Linkin Park played a big part in the success of Nu-Metal, there are 2 bands that are generally considered to be the founders of the iconic genre, Korn, and Limp Bizkit.

These artists formed in 1993 and 1994 respectively. With Korn being from Bakersfield, California and Limp Bizkit residing in Jacksonville, Florida.

They were essentially responsible for not only a new genre of music but an entirely new sub-culture that would dominate the early millennium. A subculture that would ultimately be Linkin Park's gateway to success.

Although other bands such as Slipknot and Deftones were also considered to be founders of Nu-Metal, it all started with the self-titled debut studio album released by Korn, on October 11, 1994.

Nu-Metal had basically taken aspects of every dominant genre from the last 50 years which included Rock and Metal, Rap, Hip-Hop, 80s electronica and even DJ style sampling, and combined them all together.

In 1991 music changed forever. Three misfits from Aberdeen, Washington unleashed “Smells Like Teen Spirit” onto the world and alternative rock became the mainstream. Grunge wasn’t so much a genre as a close knit selection of bands that came from the same approximate area, its epicentre being Seattle. The Sabbathy-doom of Soundgarden sounded little like the Garage Rock bluster of Mudhoney. But at the same time they were all tied together with a sense of exi-stential angst, unhurried tempos and dirty, sludgy, grungy audio qualities. But what was this scene? What were the essential steps along the way, the key tracks and influencers? And how did it get to the point where Nirvana could dethrone Guns N’ Roses as America’s biggest rock band. This is the journey to Nevermind: how Grunge became Grunge.
