The Chicago Bulls documentary The Last Dance on Netflix took the world by storm. Back in the 90s I used to get up in the middle of the night to watch Michael Jordan and the Bulls on TV, so The Last Dance had a very nostalgic effect on me. Especially at the end of EP1, when SIRIUS started playing for the Chicago Bulls intro / starting lineup celebration, all the memories came flooding back! I immediately stopped watching and rushed into my studio to record my own version of the iconic theme song!

SIRIUS was originally released as the instrumental intro song on the album Eye in the Sky by The Alan Parsons Project. It was adopted by the Chicago Bulls as their theme song that played during the starting lineup player introductions and became a worldwide phenomenon, frequently being played at all kinds of sports events.

The original SIRIUS is quite short, so it is often edited to create extended versions, like it was done for The Last Dance soundtrack. Since I re-recorded all parts for this guitar cover, I made my own extended version by arranging it with a slower buildup to the guitar solo. I also extended the solo by composing a new second half based on the original.

This cover of SIRIUS is available on all major platforms, so go find it on your streaming service of choice or give that extra bit of support for my work by downloading the song!

Angela (Theme From 'Taxi') - Bob James (1978) Hotney 4 Vues • 4 années depuis

Robert McElhiney James (born December 25, 1939) is a jazz and jazz fusion keyboardist, arranger and producer. During the 1970s, Bob James played a major role in turning fusion jazz more mainstream. "Angela", the instrumental theme from the 1970s television sitcom "Taxi", is probably Bob James' most well-known work to date. It was featured on "Touchdown", a 1978 jazz album which was a commercial breakout album for him. The song was named after the guest character in the third episode of the first season ("Blind Date"), but after hearing the song, the producers made this the show's main theme, replacing their previous choice, which became this album's title track. The title of the album is a reference to it being his sixth solo album, a touchdown being worth six points in American football. In addition to his solo work and high-profile collaborations with artists such as Earl Klugh and David Sanborn, James is also the founding member of contemporary jazz supergroup Fourplay. Very influenced by pop and movie music, James has often featured soloists who add a jazz touch to his sound (most notably Grover Washington, Jr.). While best known for his fusion sound, James began in 1962, recording a bop-ish trio set for Mercury. Three years later, his album for ESP was quite avant-garde, with electronic tapes used for effects. James is recognized as one of the progenitors of smooth jazz. His music has also had a profound effect on the history of hip-hop and pop music, having been sampled often. Two of James' songs -- "Nautilus" from 1974's "One" and "Take Me To The Mardi Gras" from 1975's "Two" -- are among the most sampled in hip-hop history, sampled in thirty-two and forty-three hip-hop recordings, respectively. James' music has been most famously sampled by Eric B. & Rakim, Run-D.M.C., Ghostface Killah, Slick Rick, LL Cool J, The Beastie Boys, Missy Elliott, Will.i.am, Common, Wu-Tang Clan, Röyksopp, De La Soul, Warren G, André 3000, and N.W.A, among many others. Lyrics:
The city smells like pollution and alcoholics
While my guys smell like gun powder and narcotics
This track, is for all my brothers doing time (Дорогу им)
Hope you don’t get caught next time
My luck’s still around, since we’re not pinned to the ground
A message to my luck, don’t run out!
This is ex Soviet Union, this ain’t the west
And this life, is not the place where we’ll find rest
Dead body’s, missing personnel
A K9, and her sense of smell
She won’t stop till she sniffs out the whole hotel
She gets a treat, while you get a cell
A complaint about a gun? Yeah, which one?
One’s on me, and one’s in the trunk
Music is the goal, but I feel it in my soul
We’ll get an Oscar for the best lived men’s role

Crime central
Who sent ya?
Take him inside and find out who that bullet meant for
Tiki-taka on the road, that’s just how it goes
Specnaz is in the building, we gotta go

Crime central
Who sent ya?
They don’t wanna see you win, stacking presidentials
Tiki-taka on the road, that’s just how it goes
Specnaz is in the building, we gotta go

A tree grows with no noise, but it falls loudly
Hard for me to regret it, when I did it proudly
And hard for me to tell the court that I wasn’t there
Knowing damn well the whole thing was my idea
The story of us changing and getting better
Is as unlikely as the judge ruling in our favour
And my killers are getting tired
Tired of being retired
I would love to tell you all, what’s behind the show
But if I did, I’d be stepping on my own toes
6P is on the come up, and it’s getting loud here
Death with honour over a life without it
Came out at 45? Don’t waste time
Find yourself a job, a 9 to 5
And you’ll be almost like every one
But at least you’ll never have to run

Crime central
Who sent ya?
Take him inside and find out who that bullet meant for
Tiki-taka on the road, that’s just how it goes
Specnaz is in the building, we gotta go

Crime central
Who sent ya?
They don’t wanna see you win, stacking presidentials
Tiki-taka on the road, that’s just how it goes
Specnaz is in the building, we gotta go
