Is it too late to start a video production company? I started mine 8 years ago and I thought the same way back then.
Going back 15 years though, when I graduated from film school, the market was not very saturated. The cost of entry back then was still pretty high. You can do events and maybe some corporate projects, but commercial work was going to the big production companies.

But around 2010, when the DSLR really took over the market and YouTube education was getting pretty good, more people learned filmmaking and got into the market. And then, a new film school would pop up every single week.

So all of a sudden, everyone in their 20s started a video production company. But here’s why I think it’s still plenty of room in the world of video production.

First of all, video is growing exponentially. Far more than people learning how to make good videos.
So the jobs in video production are going to continue to grow for at least the next decade. Platforms like Instagram are moving away from photo sharing to becoming video platforms. The short format is exploding with TikTok and YouTube shorts and brands and businesses have no idea how to utilize these platforms.

Second, let me just break down the numbers for you. In the US, there are roughly 6000 video production companies. That covers film, TV, commercial and corporate events.

If we just look at commercial and corporate needs, let’s look at how many small businesses there are in the US.

There are roughly 31 million. Let’s just say only 10% could use or afford a video to market their business.

3.1 million divided by 6000 is 516. No one could handle 516 video clients. The goal is to get a dozen or so repeating clients. Land a couple of ad agencies and a couple of Fortune 500 companies, and you will have a bigger video company than most.

Just based on those numbers, there is a huge amount of growth.

Finally! A music video behind the scenes many of you have been waiting on for a while now! In this video i run through a behind the scenes on set with Bonfice shooting his latest single 'Self Made' (Full Music Video Link Bellow). This music video was shot in a one location, controlled environment inside of a house with the exception of a 30 minute meet up with the artist to capture the scenes with a car to add to the video days after the initial shooting happened. In this video i go in-depth of my gimbal movements, handheld movements, simple yet effective lighting techniques, how i vibe with my music video clients on set and how you really don't need many resources to push out some great music video content. Bonfice was the featured artist in one of the top viewed music video tutorials on YouTube (How I Shoot Rap/Hiphop Music Videos - Link Bellow) so it was awesome to finally take the time to recreate another awesome and informative music video breakdown. RM of BTS: Tiny Desk (Home) Concert Hotney 6 Görünümler • 4 yıl önce

Now that we’re back to recording Tiny Desk concerts in the office, home concerts mostly happen under special circumstances: when the artist is overseas, for example, or otherwise unable to get to Washington, D.C., when we’re recording. Given that BTS’s RM (aka Kim Nam-joon) is based in South Korea, we let it slide — not least because his team put together one of the most impressive Tiny Desk facsimiles we’ve seen yet. What really sets it apart is the huge array of shelf-bound ephemera, which is bound to have the BTS Army sleuthing in the YouTube comments. What’s a random tchotchke and what’s an Easter egg? Study the set closely!

RM timed his solo Tiny Desk debut — which follows BTS’s home concert from back in 2020 — to coincide with the release of his first official studio album, Indigo. But he kicks off the set with an older track, “seoul,” which first appeared on his 2018 mixtape mono. From there, he showcases the first two tracks from Indigo: the rap-driven “Yun” and the funky “Still Life,” both of which are inspired by RM’s love of and fascination with painting. The studio tracks feature Erykah Badu and Anderson .Paak, respectively, both of whom get shoutouts in this set. But here, the focus never drifts away from the star at center stage — no matter how closely you might squint at the stuffed animals, housewares, clocks and toys (not to mention Big Mouth Billy Bass!) behind him.

Now, if we can just get him to visit the real Tiny Desk…
