Fat Joe On Losing $20M Deal, Jay-Z, 50 Cent, Drake, Kendrick Lamar, NFL, Ozempic & Media Career Hotney 13 Streams • 2 years ago

Fat Joe kicks off his conversation with Shannon Sharpe at Club Shay Shay by joking that he wants to be like Snoop Dogg. He shares his upbringing, explaining that he just wanted to escape poverty. Joe tells pivotal stories from his upbringing like when his best friend abandoned him to side with attackers, being shot at by the same guy eight times in two days, how hip hop saved his life, and being framed for three murders by the cops.

Joe reflects on the deaths of modern rappers like Nipsey Hussle, Pop Smoke, and PnB Rock, comparing them to Tupac and Biggie Smalls. He stresses that people need to come together, just like Jay-Z and DJ Khaled, and comments on Michael Rubin’s controversial remarks. He adds that he tries to inspire youth through his flexing rather than tear the community apart.

The conversation then transitions to the Drake vs Kendrick Lamar beef, to which Fat Joe jokes that he doesn’t want anyone to kill him after his interview with Shannon for his opinion on the matter. He says if he were Drake, he’d be confused. He highlights how the song is nominated for multiple Grammys and believes it will become an all-time classic. Joe likens the public’s fascination with the beef to watching football and believes Drake can make everyone forget about the feud depending on how he responds.

Fat Joe recalls attempting to squash the beef between Ja Rule and 50 Cent, saying they should have ended it by now. He expresses hope that Young Thug will be released from jail so he can take care of his loved ones again. Joe recounts losing a $20 million Jordan Brand endorsement due to his feud with 50 Cent, revealing it wasn’t the only financial hit he took because of beefs—he also lost money beefing with Jay-Z. He warns young rappers that the Feds are watching rappers’ crews and pinning it back on the artist, referencing Bobby Shmurda’s situation. Lastly, Joe praises Jay-Z for doing great work with the NFL but understands why Lil Wayne is upset about not performing at the Super Bowl Halftime Show in New Orleans.

Fat Joe criticizes J. Cole for not responding to the beef aimed at him revolving around the Drake vs Kendrick feud, saying he would have responded himself. Joe calls DJ Khaled his angel, supporting Khaled's message about spreading love and positivity. Joe shares a personal story about talking his friend out of suicide after his wife cheated on him, noting that trusting in God saved the man’s life.

He mentions using Ozempic for diabetes, which he’s had since he was 13, and how Big Pun’s death motivated him to work out so intensely that he reversed his diabetes. Joe proudly talks about being married for 30 years, and how his wife held him down while he was in prison. He explains how they’ve stayed together through thick and thin. Joe discusses his son, who has autism and Down syndrome, and how initially he wasn’t ready to be a father. Joe calls his son his biggest blessing.

As the episode draws to a close, Fat Joe talks about his close relationship with Jennifer Lopez. He declares that women in Atlanta are running hip hop. Joe reveals that Eminem once wanted him to sign him and mentions that he also missed the opportunity to sign Pitbull and Rick Ross. He explains how the Black and Brown communities can come together. This episode, Fat Joe offers insight, laughter, and reflection, showcasing the highs and lows of his career and personal life, leaving viewers with a deeper understanding of the legendary rapper’s journey and mindset.

Lyrics:

Ay
2am and I'm live
I just left out the club with the gang and a high yllow b*tch that's real thick in the thighs
You know me, I be shooting my sht when I got the lil' b*tch, wasn't even surprised
In the club looked her deep in the eyes and said,
"You comin' with me, if you're with it, let's ride"
Got a text, "When you coming inside?"
Off the liquor, didn't know what to say, so I lied
I text back, "Late at the stu, tryna cook somethin' new"
It's just me and the guys
She text "Hm", I ain't even reply
Then I rolled up a wood while I gripped on her thighs
Start to kiss on her neck, know this b*tch feelin' high
Ain't gon' lie, her p*ssy and head kinda fye
Ended at a hotel somewhere off 35
BOOK ____ and rolled over, said wake me up in 5
Gotta piss, I wake up, man, it's 6:39
At the time, now I'm on the highway and I'm flyin'
Look at my phone, not a soul on my line
And I'm deep in my thoughts
I'm just knowin' she's cryin'
I'm trippin', I'm tryna
Straight out of the lies
I know if I slip, it's gon' damage our ties
I done did it before, I can't do all this cryin'

Ay
She gon' ask where I was
I'ma answer, what time?
Where was you around 3?
I think I was outside
But you told me the stu
We got there at like 5
But it's 7
Sh*t, Deion has asked for a ride
Now I got it together
I pull up outside
It's 3 cars in this lot and one of 'em ain't mine
Now I'm clutching, I unlock the door, creep inside
I heard thump from upstairs, so I cocked the b*tch quiet
Hit the top of the stairs, think I heard my girl cryin'
Now I'm thinking, should I kick the door and kill everything in it, except for what's mine?
I don't know, but now I'm at the door
And She's screaming, go deeper
He tells her, be quiet
I walk in, tell the b*tch that she's wild

Tell the n*gga, he moves, and it's about to go down
Tell them both to shut up and don't even make a sound
She said, but
I said, shut the f*ck up and lay down
Next person moves, I'ma let off a round
Now I'm pacing, I'm trying to see how I'm getting down
If I kill 'em both, then that makes me a clown
Mama told me, don't trust 'em, but look at me now
One in the chamber, two-faced on the ground
Got me like, should I leave and just burn this b*tch down?
I wake up, it's a dream
I'm outside of my house

LYRICS
Sorry if I’m not what you expect
Tried to be social, I fucked it all up, I guess I should go make amends
Better off standing in silence, ‘cause I do not share in your sentiment
I made an entrance & noticed the state of my friends, now I’m retracing my steps
Is this a symptom of being depressed?
Is there a version of me that is capable of being happy with less?
All this inadequacy is a consequence of who I think I am meant to be next
Tell me I’m making sense??
When the days, turn to weeks, then you might understand…

Down on my luck
Summon Armageddon accidentally, ‘cause I disfigure all that I touch
Down on my luck
Crumble under pressure, I stumble every time I get up
Down on my luck
Jehovah’s witness, I don’t want to get stuck
Close the curtain, but I think I got caught
Praying on the floor of the shower
Like I didn’t run away when they, knocked…

Knocked (ah)
Knocked (yeah)
Knocked

I write all these lines like a printing press,
Second verse syndrome, I can’t find the courage to pick up the pen again
Never been good at a summary, no, my work cannot be coalesced
How could I ever convey everything that I meant, writing in 10 words or less?

Don’t take my advice, no, don’t listen to me, oh no, no, no, no, no
You’ll end up beside me, buried underneath all the critiques (yeah)
We might build a masterpiece with the debris
Make everyone else obsolete
You say it ain’t worth it, it’s worth it to me
It’s worth it to me…

Down on my luck,
Summon Armageddon accidentally, ‘cause I disfigure all that I touch
Down on my luck
Crumble under pressure, I stumble every time I get up
Down on my luck
Seventh Day Adventist, I don’t want to get stuck
Close the curtain, but I think I got caught
Praying on the floor of the shower
Like I didn’t run away when they -

You might not like it, but I’d rather you not approach
Up at all hours, I swear I’ve been talking to ghosts
They’re counting to zero, they’re waiting for me to implode
I know that I’m close
I know that I’m close…

Down on my luck (down on my luck)
I disfigure all that I touch
Down on my luck
(wanna get stuck) I crumbled under pressure
Down on my luck, (down on my luck)
Close the curtain, but I think I got caught
Down on my luck,
Praying on the floor of the shower, like I didn’t run away when they...
