Glass Animals - Show Pony (Lyrics)

I’ll begin at the beginning.
You met in New York City.
He was sitting like a prince
On the stairs of his old building
When he kissed you you were finished
Two months in a minute
Married at a desk
In a sundress with a witness
Had a Honeymoon in Texas
Went to Little Venice
Told him with your eyes
Now you’re crying in the clinic
And we pile into the Plymouth
Haircuts in the kitchen
He always fell asleep
Just before the movie finished

But you don’t
Baby you’re alone
Echos in your head
Pressed into the floor

Two-dimensional
When’s it gonna end?
Maybe when you’re dead?
Maybe you’re a fool but he loved you

And he loved you in a t-shirt
All the memories inside your curves
Now you’re coming back to show us that girl,
Roll those credits ‘cos the sequel’s gonna hurt, mmm.

Show pony make it burn
Smile as the knife is turned
Show pony making a return
As we make our way thru the universe

Show pony making it burn
That’s how revenge is served
Make it so cold that it hurts
I guess he’s right that you live and learn

It’s how the story goes
Ramen on your own
Waiting by the phone
Lipstick on the coat

Waiting by the door
You live in his clothes
You would make a joke
That you had none of your own

All that shit I learned from you
Kindness spilt like milk and juice
So blind sided by the truth
In some way I was sure you knew

All those nights he left you and me
there was nothing of you but he squeezed
All those times he did what he pleased
Boy that narcissism runs deep

All that hurt comes out in one scream scream
And it pierced him like the paper receipt
That you got that time you went for food
That first night that he saw you

MC Lyte (born Lana Michele Moorer; October 11, 1970)[3] is an American rapper who first gained fame in the late 1980s, becoming the first solo female rapper to release a full album with 1988's critically acclaimed Lyte as a Rock.[4] She has long been considered one of hip-hop's pioneer feminists.
In 1987, when she was 17, Lyte began schooling other MCs in the art of rhyme; since that time, she has improved upon her musical prowess, with a total of ten albums released to her credit.[9] In September of the following year, she released her first album, Lyte as a Rock, noted for such hits as "Paper Thin" and the battle rap "10% Dis," a response from then-Hurby Azor associate, Antoinette. Both rappers released battle records against each other. Lyte followed her debut with 1989's Eyes on This, which spawned the hits "Cha Cha Cha" and "Cappucino." Both albums were notable for Lyte's uncensored lyrical matter. She sweetened up a little on 1991's Act Like You Know, noted for its new jack swing sound and the hit single "Poor Georgie." Lyte's fourth album, 1993's Ain't No Other, became her first to reach gold status and was notable for her first top 40 pop hit, "Ruffneck". An inspiring 1993 classic anthem, "Ruffneck," was eventually nominated for a Grammy for Best Rap Single, and in fact, made MC Lyte the first female solo rapper ever nominated for a Grammy.[9] She later went on to become a featured artist on hits by Janet Jackson [10] and Brandy.[11]

Two years afterward, Lyte's fifth album, Bad As I Wanna B, featured production from Jermaine Dupri and Sean Combs, and featured the hits "Keep on, Keepin' On" and "Cold Rock a Party", which featured then up-and-coming rapper, songwriter and producer Missy Elliott. This album was her first with East West Records America and became successful after the aforementioned singles became big hits with "Keep on, Keepin' On" peaking at the top ten and "Cold Rock a Party" peaking at number eleven. It was her second gold album. Her 1998 follow-up, Seven & Seven, however, wasn't as successful and she left East West America by the end of the decade. Lyte released the independently produced record The Undaground Heat, featuring Jamie Foxx, in 2003, which was notable for the song "Ride Wit Me". The single was nominated for both a Grammy and a BET award.[citation needed]

MC Lyte's song "My Main Aim" was the title song of the video game NBA Live 2005 by EA Sports. In 2005, she released two songs produced by Richard "Wolfie" Wolf called "Can I Get It Now" and "Don't Walk Away" (with Meechie). In 2007, she released a song called "Mad at Me" and, in 2008, two songs called "Juke Joint" and "Get Lyte". In 2009 a song titled "Brooklyn" was released, as well as "Craven."

►Lyrics: (Kym Sims, Marc Williams, Steve "Silk" Hurley)

You can just walk on, keep on

Sittin, waitin, anticipatin
Waiting for your call
Tossin, turnin, my heart's burnin
From the things I saw
I'm sorry baby, you can't play me
I just can't be used
I'm so fed up, time to get up
Baby we are through

I thought that what we had would never end
Now it's too late, my heart won't mend
And although what we had was good
I've got to make this understood

Keep on walkin, I ain't talkin to you anymore
Keep on walkin, keep on walkin (you can just go on)
Keep on walkin, I ain't talkin to you anymore
Keep on walkin, keep on walkin (you can just go on)
We ain't talkin no more

I thought I told you it was over
Why are you confused?
Made your choice and now I'm voicing
My opinion to you
I think you're crazy
To try to play me for a foolish girl
You'll soon discover
You're not the only lover in this world

I thought that what we had would never end
Now it's too late, my heart won't mend
And although what we had was good
I've got to make this understood

Keep on walkin, I ain't talkin to you anymore
Keep on walkin, keep on walkin (you can just go on)
Keep on walkin, I ain't talkin to you anymore
Keep on walkin, keep on walkin (you can just go on)
We ain't talkin no more

You, you can just walk on
You, you can just keep on

I thought that what we had would never end
Now it's too late, my heart won't mend
And although what we had was good
I've got to make this understood

I know, I know, I know, I know it's just too late
I know, I know, I know, I know it's just too late

Keep on walkin, I ain't talkin to you anymore
Keep on walkin, keep on walkin (you can just go on)
Keep on walkin, I ain't talkin to you anymore
Keep on walkin, keep on walkin (you can just go on)
We ain't talkin no more

You can just go, you can just go, you can just go,
You can just go, you can just go, you can just go,
Oh oh oh oh yeah, Oh oh oh oh yeah
