■Song For The Weak. Lyrics
What is wrong? When did you become conservative?
Fuck this globe,Fuck this world, fuck the people and fuck the system!
Am I Right?
Say it!
Rock these days isn't rock!
I'm sick and tired of this shitty music.
Are you with me?

Fuck the word justice.
Masses seek it for their own convenience.
Good intentions can't exist without giving and taking.
What is justice for me? I guess it's being a rockstar.

Lawyers looking down on hookers.
Wage earners looking down on slaves.
Winners looking down on losers.
Looking down on us from their skyscrapers.

Bang Bang, You wanna?
Bang Bang, Blow it away.
Bang, You wanna?
Leave my baby alone.

I just wanna Rock'n Roll.
That's why I will keep on screaming.
Let's sing a song of power that only the weak can sing.

Ecstasy. Climax.
Your last fucking night!

Are the losers weak?

Those looking down on others or those who are being looked down upon.
Squeeze out the corruption from our fucked up society.
Those in power, you better not let your guard down.

Lyrics:
Every last cell on fire
Said we couldn’t make it right
Hoping that you change your mind
So I’ll leave a light on
It’s the push and pull
We’ve been down this road
And we always survive
But how many times
Can we hit this low
It’s irrational
And we end up alone
Whoa

I still feel you my veins
Given up, but I can’t just walk away
You’re already part of me
Whoa
Even when our blood runs cold
And there’s nowhere to go
We’d find a way
I can feel you in my veins
Whoa

I guess you wanted me to get some help
And I just took it out on one of my songs
But if you wind up with somebody else
Whoa
Hang on like an icicle
Clinical
Don’t make somebody happy, no
Keep asking for
So much more
Than they could ever endure

I still feel you my veins
Given up but I can’t just walk away
You’re already part of me
Whoa
Even when our blood runs cold
And there’s nowhere to go
We’d find a way
I can feel you in my veins
Whoa

I couldn’t ever let you change me
No we don’t understand the same things
You built a prison just to cage me
And it turned into a furnace for a flame

I still feel you my veins
Given up, but I can’t just walk away
You’re already part of me
Whoa
Even when our blood runs cold
And there’s nowhere to go
We’d find a way
I can feel you in my veins
Whoa
Even when the blood runs cold
Blood runs cold

LYRICS:
Another stab that I couldn't see coming
This is where the take off really begins
Never allowed yet never need to return
Inside the flames of bridge you've forced to burn

Hey you wanna drop me out?
Without a word, so leave me I don't care
Hey you better shut me out
If you care, kill me if you dare

As you once told me lies
Reflection of your mind
Words so divided, dropping out of lines
Story unfolds
Designed to the bitter end
Nothing more to say
Kill me if you care

You start to feed your perilous lust
Can't you feel the thrill?
Anything at all? No…
All wired for the charming sense
You don't know what you're living for
God save you now…

Hey you wanna drop me out?
Without a word, so leave me I don't care
Hey you better shut me out
If you care, kill me if you dare
If you dare…

As you once told me lies
Reflection of your mind
Words so divided, dropping out of lines
Story unfolds
Designed to the bitter end
Nothing more to say
Kill me if you care
If you dare…

Hey you wanna drop me out
without a word, so leave me I don't care
Hey you better shut me out
If you care, kill me if you dare

As you once told me lies
Reflection of your mind
Words so divided, dropping out of lines
Story unfolds
Designed to the bitter end
Kill me if you care…

If you never told me lies
Reflection of your mind
Words so divided, dropping out of lines
Story unfolds
Designed to the bitter end
Kill me if you care

It’s what I’ve been living for, to see the story unfold
It’s what I fear, yet all I care

Lyrics:

You're so late getting home from the office
Did you miss your train?
Were you caught in the rain?
No, don't bother to explain.
Can I fix you a quick martini?
As a matter of fact
I'll have one with you,
For to tell you the truth
I've had quite a day too!

Guess who I saw today, my dear?
I went in town to shop around for something new
And thought I'd stop and have a bite when I was through

I looked around for someplace near,
And it occurred to me where I had parked the car
There is a most attractive French cafe and bar
It really wasn't very far

The waiter showed me to a dark, secluded corner
And when my eyes became accustomed to the gloom
I saw two people at the bar who were so much in love
That even I could spot it clear across the room.

Guess who I saw today, my dear?
I've never been so shocked before
I headed blindly for the door
They didn't see me passing through
Guess who I saw today? [Repeat: x3]
I saw you

The Decemberists - Once In My Life Hotney 8 Streams • 3 years ago

Statement from Colin Meloy:

We were searching for a video idea for “Once In My Life” that would somehow capture the spirit of the song. In my mind, the song is a meditation, a plea to the cosmos that I imagine everyone, at some point or another, has made. We asked our old friend and collaborator Autumn de Wilde to pitch an idea and she came to us with a simple but powerful story: a depiction of her brother Jacob, a man who has lived with physical and intellectual differences his entire life, dancing in the streets of Los Angeles. The song, in this light, becomes more than just a “celebration of sadness,” (which I have sometimes called it) but suddenly a longing holler to the universe against one’s perceived otherness.

This idea is particularly close to me as I’ve witnessed how the world sees my son Hank, who is autistic. When I’m out in public with Hank, I’m acutely aware of the world’s attachment to social and behavioral norms; in these situations, Hank’s otherness can suddenly be put in stark relief. Through the lens of Jacob’s joyful and defiant movement in Autumn’s video, we see a man shrugging off the constraints of an unaccommodating and judgmental world and truly reveling in his body and mind.

Statement from Autumn de Wilde:

My brother Jacob is 7’2”.
His feet are size 22.
He has Auditory Processing Disorder.
He likes to dress up as Chewbacca.
He is not a basketball player.
This video is my love letter to him.

My mother said to me recently when we were talking about the way the people tend to react to Jacob, someone who looks and sounds extraordinarily different from their opinion of what normal is: “When we see someone new or different, we have to stop thinking about ourselves for a moment in order to really experience them. As humans, we tend to want to put our fingerprints all over other people.”

The Decemberists’ song “Once In My Life” is the song I needed when I was young.... when I felt stared at, mocked or unseen for my heart and mind. Jacob also had an immediate emotional reaction to the song when I played it for him the first time. I had been wanting to explore a creative collaboration with my brother for a while, and this was the perfect song.

I have a very strong connection to Hank Meloy, Colin Meloy and Carson Ellis' son, who is autistic. He has very much inspired my mind and imagination as an artist and a thinker. Although Jacob and Hank's bodies and diagnosis are very different, Jacob, Hank and all of us who look different, sound different, or think different have a connection in our experience of otherness. There are many of us who feel sometimes like we live in a sort of dollhouse for the wrong doll but our perspective can shift dramatically when we realize, in fact, that our difference has simply redefined the space we are in. My brother is in his 40's and his long journey to achieve the comfort and understanding in how he moves, communicates and connects to others is inspiring to me. Self-love and acceptance are the real superpowers waiting for all of us.

Everyone featured in the video and working on the crew is a friend who gave 100% to this project. I wanted Jacob to be surrounded by friends who were committed to helping him tell this story, but also create a safe space for Jacob, which changed our pace and usual process for filmmaking. It was thrilling as a director and a sister to challenge Jacob and myself. I am honored to have put the spotlight on him, watched my brother flourish as an artistic human onscreen and show us how gorgeous different is.

Lyrics:
Tere aake yun, jaane se
Baichain hai fiza meri
Ho har nazar, har khabar
Pe rehti nigah meri
Ho tujhe kaise ye batayein humne kya kya dekha
Kaise logo se rishte the, kaise the mere karam
Hum kahi kho na jaaye ye darr hai rehta
Tu haath thaam ke mera bas todh de bharam
Soona saa ye jahaan
Kaali raaton mein hum
Tanha baithe ye yahaan
Tujhse ek hi cheez maangte hain hum
Tu jaana na piya
Mera tere bina koi na yaha
ye dil keh raha

Tu jaana na piya
Chhoti si umar se sab hai dekha
ab jhela jaye na
Tu Aaja…
Nayi lagda
Nayi lagda
Nayi lagda
Tere bin mera
Nayi lagda
Nayi lagda jiya
Tu Aaja…
Nayi lagda
Nayi lagda
Nayi lagda
Tere bin mera
Nayi lagda
Nayi lagda jiya

O jaan-e-jaan
Yeh hai meri zindagi
Ke mujhe woh na mila
Jiski mujhe thi kami

Par ab samajh aaya yeh
Ki jeena mera hai tujhse hi
Bas bol nahi paaye hum
par baatein kayi na chhup saki

Ab laage..

Suna sa yeh jahaan
Kaali raaton mein hum
Tanhaa baithe ye yahaan
Tujhse ek hi cheez maangte hain hum
Tu jaana na piya
Mera tere bina koi na yaha
Ye dil keh raha

Tu jaana na piya
Chhoti si umar se sab hai dekha
Ab jhela jaye na
Tu Aaja…
Nayi Lagda
Nayi lagda
Nayi lagda
Tere bin mera
Nayi Lagda
Nayi lagda jiya

Tu Aaja…
Nayi Lagda
Nayi lagda
Nayi lagda
Tere bin mera

LYRICS:

I’ve been waiting for you to come over
It’s better than when I’m dancing at home alone
Birds still sing in the morning
Whenever I see your name on the telephone
The fireworks reflecting in your eyes, baby
Will these new memories leave you feeling old
God, baby it's getting cold
I’d hate to leave ya
Honestly
I shoulda just stayed at home

You know that it's hard to try and change your mind up
I know, I know
You’re always throwing fuel on the fire

Never thought I’d get so lonely
In the middle of a disco but
Woah, woah
To dark to see me cry
To loud to ask me why, woah
I know you dreamt of a runaway
As long as I’m back I’m here to stay
Out of time and I’m out of place
Looking back thinking about those summer days

If I got out of bed and I called you
Baby, would I be breaking a golden rule again?
I’m just being a fool again
But I’m in love
And a fool like that could never be so cold, cold

On the 15th floor
No one can hear you calling
I’m lonely
Oh, if only
I wasn’t throwing fuel on the fire

Never thought I’d get so lonely
In the middle of a disco but
Woah, woah
To dark to see me cry
To loud to ask me why, woah
I know you dreamt of a runaway
As long as I’m back I’m here to stay
Out of time and I’m out of place
Looking back thinking about those summer days

I’ve been waiting for you to come over
It's better than when I’m dancing at home alone

♪ Song Lyrics:
