Today we take a look at whatever happened to the 90s band Third Eye Blind following the huge success of their self titled debut album that spawned three huge singles including "Semi Charmed Life", "Jumper" and "How's It Going to Be" in addition to frontman Stephan Jenkins

Now success lawsuits infighting and feuds as well as backstabbing those are the words that I would use to describe Third Eye Blind career , so whatever happened to the bandwell you're gonna find out in today's video. Now I love the fact that I grew upin the 90s I can't imagine being a kid
growing up in today's world political
correctness has infected everything and
they just don't make music or movies
like they used to and the late 90s were
a weird time in rock music. Grunge and
alternative rock was on his way out it and it
was replaced by this weird mishmash of
post grunge groups like Bush, Better than
Ezra, Days of the New and more poppy
commercial rock like Goo Goo Dolls Third
Eye Blind and Sugar Ray and then you had
new metal. Now when I think of the more
memorable parts of my childhood I think
of some of the great teenage comedies
including can't hardly wait and American
Pie and the common bond between these
two movies was the rock band Third Eye
Blind who had music featured in both
films. Now Third Eye Blind was huge in
the late nineties and had some big
singles, but whatever happened to those
guys. Nw to say that Third Eye Blind had
overnight success would not be true.
Bandleader and singer Stephan Jenkins
fine-tuned his craft in the Bay Area
during the early to mid 90s before the
band found huge success in 1997 with their
self-titled debut album and the band
would be formed four years prior by the
songwriting duo of Stephan Jenkins and
Kevin Cadogan in San Francisco and
Jenkins influences were pretty eclectic
including parliament-funkadelic
to Joy Division to Cat Stevens and
during his time in college Jenkins would
be diagnosed with chronic fatigue
syndrome, which took away a lot of his
youthful energy for several years but
once he recovered from that condition
Jenkins turned his attention back to
music. But with no label he along with
Cadogan would record a demo of songs
with other local musicians but the
problem was that the demo didn't really
fit in with what was popular on rock
radio at the time, but it would be luck
that truly helped the band out a close
friend of the band became their manager
and they met engineers David Gleason and
Erick Dodd who agreed to work with the
group on their songs.
And at one point Gleeson even helped the
band sneak into George Lucas's Skywalker
Ranch way they recorded some songs It
would be Third Eye Blind demos of how's
it going to be and slow motion that
caught the attention of recording labels
including Dave Massey of Epic Records
who would meet with the band and by the
end of that meeting
Stephen Jenkins had secured an opening
slot for Oasis who were playing San
Francisco that same week Jenkins would
reflect on that meeting saying I think he
liked my directness he wasn't threatened
by it the same way some people were. Now
the opening slot for Oasis was a dream
come true
Third Eye Blind had become used to
playing for dozens of people, but they
were now plaintiff thousands of people
opening for one of the world's biggest
rock bands. And following the opening
slot for Oasis, a bidding war ensued from
record labels and the band would end up
signing with Elektra Records and it
would prove to be one of the biggest
deals for any unsigned bands at that
point in time now. From the moment Third
Eye Blind hit they were inescapable. the
band's debut album would produce three
huge singles with Semi-Charmed Life
Jumper and How's it Going To Be in
addition to two other well-known songs
from the band's catalogue including
Graduate and Losing a whole year Now
those songs would be played to death on
radio and television even to this day
and the band at the end of the day would
sell six million copies of their debut
album just in the US alone and they also
got a highly coveted guest spot on
Saturday Night Live. Now what separated
Third Eye Blind from their peers was
that they were singing about some pretty
dark stuff. It would probably help that
from end Stephan Jenkins was obsessed
with Lou Reed and The Velvet Underground
and their debut album was filled with
lyrics about drug addiction, abuse and
suicide as exemplified in the song Semi
Charmed Life and Jumper but these tracks
were packaged with catchy hooks and
up-tempo feel and poppy choruses and the
lyrical matter did little to dissuade
radio stations from not playing their
tunes now 1999

So today we’re coming back to a top-tier band that is one of my favorites ever… a combination of four almost mythical musicians who changed the way we listen to music forever back in the 70s. I’m talking about David Gilmour, Roger Waters, Nick Mason, and Rick Wright… collectively known as Pink Floyd. Although in the past we’ve broken down songs from most of their biggest albums: Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, and The Wall…

…we have yet to take a deep dive into their 1977 masterpiece “Animals.” So we’re going to change that today…And to kick things off, we’re going with the track that eats up almost all of Side 1: Dogs. As Pink Floyd progressed through the 70s — moving further away from the collaborative effort of Dark Side of the Moon — Roger Waters’ stranglehold over the band began to tighten. Such was the strength of his lyrical and conceptual genius. Say what you will about Roger Waters the man, but Pink Floyd would have never achieved all they did without him. But then again, you can say the same thing about David Gilmour, whose sonic brilliance is in a class all its own. As every Floyd fan knows, these two giants of rock are ‘indisputably indispensable’ to this band’s legacy. I just want to put that out there as we get into this. Because honestly, there are some hard things to sift through here.

So Roger Waters — judging by the concept albums he has spearheaded — has an insane talent for giving life to the twisted concepts churning in his head. A poet of the darkest order, his lyrical prowess towered above his bandmates’ skills with the written word. And that is where today’s drama-filled narrative kicks into gear. By the time Water got to work writing 1977’s Animals, he was making a distinct transition from writing lyrics that could be somewhat vague to addressing very precise.

Blake Shelton continues to add to his impressive resume of music with the release of his latest single “No Body.” The song comes on the heels of his most recent album Body Language Deluxe which features his Platinum-selling 28th country radio chart-topper, “Happy Anywhere” (featuring Gwen Stefani). Shelton recently added three new holiday songs to his Cheers It’s Christmas (Super Deluxe) album including “Up On The House Top,” “Holly Jolly Christmas,” and “Cheer For the Elves,” previously recorded and co-written by Stefani.

With 52 million singles and 13 million albums sold and nearly 11 Billion Global Streams, Shelton has received numerous awards, including six ACMs, three AMAs, ten CMAs, 11 CMTs and six People’s Choice, among many others.

Former Guns N' Roses drummer Matt Sorum probably put it best when he tweeted out, "I thought Billie Joe Armstrong's rant was the most punk rock thing he's ever done. then he had to go and ruin it by apologizing. corporate rock is alive and well. never really bought that band anyways," he would conclude. It was a funny statement considering it was Green Day who inducted Matt Sorum into the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame with Guns and Roses just five months prior in April of 2012. drinking and shenanigans seemed to be part of Green Day's image. from their humble beginnings from California, they appeared to be just three punk rock kids who wanted to make great music with the help of a little lubricants. In fact, even after the band got famous, the band's singer Billie Joe Armstrong admitted to Rolling Stone in 2013 that he had anxiety getting onstage in front of people and would reveal alcohol would help alleviate some of the nerves admitting, "I played on stage loaded a lot. I'd have anywhere from two to six beers and a couple of shots before I went on stage then I'd go out and play the gig and drink for the rest of the evening on the bus, fall asleep, wake up the next day, feel like crap, do soundcheck. it was over and over again. In that way,

I was a functioning alcoholic. Green Day is a very polarizing band on my channel, just like several other bands I've covered in the past including Dave Matthews Band, garbage, Foo Fighters and Linkin Park. I'm not afraid to admit that I like Green Day. granted, I'm a fan of their earlier work prior to them getting signed to a major label and of course, I was a big fan of "Dookie" in 1994 and 2004's "American Idiot", I was also a fan of. I even checked out their musical "American Idiot" a couple of years ago and absolutely loved it but I've always felt like for the last 10 years and for the 10 years prior to that, Green Day was always living in the shadow of "Dookie" and then they were also living in the shadow of "American Idiot". 2009 would see the release of "21st Century Breakdown", which I felt was a mediocre record. I still remember living up north at the time and hearing "know your enemy" and "21 guns'' played over and over again on Sirius XM hits one. three years later the band was set to do something a lot of bands don't do, while double albums get released every now and then by certain bands who are really ambitious, record labels aren't a fan of the move because the results in the records cost more than their competition and therefore hurts their bottom line. Green Day did something completely different. They had recorded so much material by the summer of 2012, they put out three individual albums called "uno", "dos" and "Tre", whose release dates would be roughly a month apart in the later part of 2012. each record would feature a different member on the cover. Personally I've always liked "uno" and "tre" the best. "dos", I could take it or leave it. Prior to the first of the three albums coming out, which was "uno", the band was out promoting the crap out of the record. they were showing up on venues that traditionally rock bands wouldn't go on, including America's Got Talent and The Voice. I don't really watch these shows and Howard Stern being on America's Got Talent wasn't enough for me to tune into that awful show. for those of you who don't know, IHeartRadio used to be called Clear Channel. yes, Howard Stern's former boss, when he was on terrestrial radio. After Stern left, the failing company had tried to rebrand itself with little luck. Since 2010 they had been holding the annual iHeartRadio Music Festival which brings together artists from various genres or so it's marketed. in reality is more heavily leaning towards pop music. Green Day had their "uno" album coming out in September of 2012 and about a week before the record dropped they played the festival and they were joined by a pretty eclectic lineup including Usher, psy, if you guys remember Gangnam style, and 'lil wayne. by this point in their career, Green Day were workhorses. They had been working non-stop since 2009 putting out records, doing a musical, touring and of course that type of lifestyle will eventually catch up with you, especially as you get older. at the same time, many people who find themselves in this situation, are too
attracted to the money to stop. In Billie Joe Armstrong's case, he was now part of the 1% that was so vilified at the beginning of the 2010s. that's not to say that money was his motivation,
he's a musician after all and if he's anything like me, I go stir-crazy sitting for too long at home and doing nothing. according to one estimate, Billie Joe Armstrong was the 42nd richest singer in rock n' roll, with a net worth of more than $55 million, making him wealthier than fellow rock legends like Vince Neil and David Lee Roth. Armstrong would tell Rolling Stone in 2013 that, as the Occupy Wall Street move
