DEAD TO ME // LYRICS

Was it all in my head?
Was it meant to be?
Thought I'd love you til death
Now you're dead to me
I still fucking hate you, hate you, hate you
What are you doing to me?
Thought I'd love you til death
Now you're dead to me

You fucking broke me I'm crazy
Yeah yeah yeah you were my baby
I wasn't perfect but I've worked so hard
You still called me lazy
Had to leave to see all the shit that you were doing to me
Called me so many names, started to believe
Made me fucking hate myself
You never wanted me, you wanted someone else
You made our home start to feel like a cell
Took a look in the mirror and I started to see
A man that wanted some love you could never give to me

Was it all in my head?
Was it meant to be?
Thought I'd love you til death
Now you're dead to me
I still fucking hate you, hate you, hate you
What are you doing to me?
Thought I'd love you til death
Now you're dead to me

I wasn't perfect
Always flirting with different women and getting too fucked up
We couldn't even have a conversation
But what you did was worse, it was fucking inhuman
I caught you in bed with another man, just left feeling stupid
I went home and thinking and drinking and finished a gram
I got madder and madder, and I ripped him out of bed
You were screaming at me and him
We're fighting on the floor
Had blood spilling out my head leaving from the door
I was wearing shades the next day
Because you knew I was meeting fans
It was the lowest fucking point I ever fucking felt as a man
I got hate in my heart and an endless aggression
I can't let it all go until you answer my question

Was it all in my head?
Was it meant to be?
Thought I'd love you til death
Now you're dead to me
I still fucking hate you, hate you, hate you
What are you doing to me?
Thought I'd love you til death
Now you're dead to me

I couldn't see it then, but I see it now
Thank you so fucking much for ripping my heart out
Stomping it and cutting it and bleeding it out
Finally figured out so much about myself
I was never the problem, I can finally see
You just weren't the right fucking person for me
Take care, wish you well and the best
Hoping our paths never cross again
Said what I had to and needed to say
Going to love myself like I should have yesterday

Was it all in my head?
Was it meant to be?
Thought I'd love you til death
Now you're dead to me
I still fucking hate you, hate you, hate you
What are you doing to me?
Thought I loved you til death
Now you're dead to me
Dead to me
Fucking dead, dead, dead, dead, dead, dead
Fucking dead, dead, dead
You're dead to me

Lyrics:
[Chorus]
When your wrist like this, you don't check the forecast
Every day it's gon' rain, yeah
Made a brick through a brick, ain't whip up shit
This pure cocaine, yeah
From the streets, but I got a little sense
But I had to go coupe, no brain (Coupe, no brain)
Ain't worried 'bout you, I'ma do what I do
And I do my thing (Do my thing)

[Verse 1]
Bought her brand new shoes, told her kick rocks
Don't stand too close, diamonds kickbox
Think red means go so I don't stop
I know they wish they could catch me, but keep wishin'
You think I done turned into a fiend for these bitches
Tryna stuff as much as I can in these britches
Made your bitch fuck on my friend, it's no difference
I ain't never popped no Xan, I sip sizzurp
If I ever have to tell on the gang, I won't do it
If I put it on a song, I seen it or been through it
I can't put it in my song, I know how the feds move
Scream free all of the ahks but I ain't no FamGoon
Gave my mama ten bands, sent her to Cancún
Got the crowd goin' dumb but I ain't no damn fool
If I went in there and did it and made it, you can too
We done came a long way from broke and sharing shoes

When your wrist like this, you don't check the forecast
Every day it's gon' rain, yeah
Made a brick through a brick, ain't whip up shit
This pure cocaine, yeah
From the streets, but I got a little sense
But I had to go coupe, no brain (Coupe, no brain)
Ain't worried 'bout you, I'ma do what I do
And I do my thing (Do my thing)

[Verse 2]
Got a quarter million dollars in a book bag
New Era, I'm a dope boy, no cap
I'm living my best life for real
Just left the dealership, no tag
If we opposite, it won't work, it won't last
Get an opposite knocked off, toe tag
Ain't been home in a month, got my ho mad
They need me in the trap but I can't go back
I jumped off the porch with a hundred dollar slab
I got M's in the bank, give a damn what they think
Every vibe I ever shot my shot at, caught it
Everything you ever seen me riding in, bought it
Big dawg status, I ain't gotta sell drugs
Put my craft into rap then I took off, yeah
New G-Wagon, no key, this a push-start
I can hit the gas, make it disappear

When your wrist like this, you don't check the forecast
Every day it's gon' rain, yeah
Made a brick through a brick, ain't whip up shit
This pure cocaine, yeah
From the streets, but I got a little sense
But I had to go coupe, no brain (Coupe, no brain)
Ain't worried 'bout you, I'ma do what I do
And I do my thing (Do my thing)

Chappell Roan: Tiny Desk Concert Hotney 13 المشاهدات • منذ 3 سنوات

Stephen Thompson | March 21, 2024
It’s become a Tiny Desk tradition for artists to leave a small offering on the shelves — a tchotchke, a toy, a signed album or piece of swag, a guitar pick, that sort of thing. Usually, those pieces get absorbed into the visual din, but sometimes, they change the look of the Tiny Desk permanently. All of which is to say that when Chappell Roan finished her magnetic performance, we immediately sought her out to sheepishly ask if we could keep her wig.

Roan’s marvelous debut album, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, came out last September — just in time to fit into the window of eligibility for the 2025 Grammys, hint hint wink — and it finds the singer toying confidently with a persona inspired in part by drag performers. Flanked by a pink-clad band, she wasn’t about to pass up the opportunity to serve up an absolute look, complete with white makeup and a towering wig (bolstered by a wadded-up trash bag tucked inside, as well as an assortment of stubbed-out cigarette butts), which now sits comfortably atop a skull Cypress Hill left us.

It’s only appropriate that Roan would forever alter the Tiny Desk. Because, at the risk of sounding hyperbolic, this is a stunning set: Performing five songs from Midwest Princess, Roan worked through songs of youthful heartache (“Casual”), **** liberation (“Pink Pony Club”), mournful alienation (“California”) and two decidedly different forms of chaotic seduction (“Picture You,” “Red Wine Supernova”). In every mood and every song, she’s utterly commanding — witty and whip-smart, vocally assured and charismatic beyond words.

She didn’t just leave her wig; she left a mark.

Lyrics:
We are one Dark Happy Nation

It’s time to stand and fight
Into the void of night

I see myself in you
But I will see it through
That we will rise again
We rise again

Take me away
Dig me a grave
And we will stand together

Our love is precious
We never look up at the stars

We belong
Underground
We are one Dark Happy Nation
We belong
In the Dark
We are one till the end of time

We belong
Underground
We are one Dark Happy Nation
We belong
In the Dark
We are one till the end of time

It’s time to reunite

I stand here 10 feet tall
My back against the wall
But we will rise again
We rise again!

Take me away
Dig me a grave
And we will stand together

Our love is precious
We never look up at the stars

We belong
Underground
We are one Dark Happy Nation
We belong
In the Dark
We are one till the end of time

We belong
Underground
We are one Dark Happy Nation
We belong
In the Dark
We are one till the end of time

We belong
Underground
We are one Dark Happy Nation
We belong
In the Dark
We are one till the end of time

We belong
We Belong
Underground
Underground
We are one Dark Happy Nation
We belong
We Belong
In the Dark
In the Dark
We are one till the end of time

We belong
Underground
We are one Dark Happy Nation
We belong
In the Dark
We are one till the end of time
