Taken from a two-hour-and-40-minute sold-out show recorded at the State Theatre in Minneapolis, Where the Wild Things Are is yet another live showcase of meticulously mapped Steve Vai compositions. Much of the material is new, and tested out in front of an unfamiliar but eager audience, with Vai exercising his chops to the limits. It's a chance for him to bust out every trick in the book: blazing through ridiculously difficult scales, double hand-tapping extravaganzas (where he plays the guitar like a piano), and sick string bends and whammy bombs to the point where his custom Jem neck should be left, imaginably, in the same shape as the rubbery guitar on the cover of Flex-Able. The listening experience is more geared toward frequent guitar clinic attendees than someone seeking background music for a day drive. It's not easy listening. It's the kind of stuff that deserves full concentration, and while most will furrow their brows while focusing on the guitar pyrotechnics, the rest of the instrumentalists are tightly locked and highly ambitious in their own right. Touring for the first time as a collective, violinists/keyboardists Ann Marie Calhoun and Alex DePue join Vai, along with bassist Bryan Beller, drummer Jeremy Colson, and guitarist/sitarist Dave Weiner. The virtuosic tendencies run high, the musicianship is incredible, and as a whole, the group sounds more like one of Zappa's stage bands than, say, Roth's. Things are still flamboyant and over the top, as expected from the owner of a three-pronged heart-shaped guitar, but there are signs of maturity. As a guitarist and as a composer, Vai's only getting better with age, as proven by Real Illusions: Reflections' sprawling, elastic "Freak Show Excess" and "Building the Church," running the gamut with haphazard emotional shifts, flawless changes, and otherworldly playing.

Roxette - Joyride (Official Video) [Remastered] Hotney 4 المشاهدات • منذ 3 سنوات

JOYRIDE (30th Anniversary Version)

Directed by Doug Freel
Produced by Andy Picheta
Restored and edited from original 35 mm tapes by Thomas Ahlén, Filmtech. 2021

Thirty years ago, the Swedish pop sensation Roxette got their fourth US #1 single with ”Joyride” – the title track to their third album. With MTV being an ever increasing power in the early 90’s pop business, a spectacular – and costly – music video was a necessary element in the bag of tricks that could send a single all the way to the top.

And ”Joyride” truly was no exception. It became a strikingly playful video, with Marie and Per sometimes sitting on a Ferrari while a hidden driver operated the accelerator and break-pedals.

A joyride in 4K
But thirty years of heavy rotation had made its mark on the original video (which probably had been copied and then copied again, before disappearing out of sight), so a restoration was definitely due. As a part of the 30th Anniversary celebrations, the “Joyride” video has resurrected in a new and improved version with sparkling colours and amazing clarity in 4K resolution.

LYRICS
I hit the road out of nowhere, i had to jump in my car and be a rider in a love game following the stars, don't need no book of wisdom, i get no money talk at all. she has a train going downtown, she's got a club on the moon and she's telling all her secrets in a wonderful balloon.

Oh she's the heart of the funfair, she's got me whistling her private tune. and it all begins where it ends, and she's all mine, my magic friend. she says, hello, you fool, I love you, c'mon join the joyride, join the joyride. she's a flower, i can paint her, she's a child of the sun, we're a part of this together, could never turn around and run. don't need no fortune teller to know where my lucky love belongs, oh no. cos it all begins again when it ends, and we´re all magic friends. she says: hello, you fool, I love you, c'mon join the joyride, join the joyride.

Hello, you fool, I love you, c'mon join the joyride, be a joyrider. i take you on a skyride, a feeling like you´re spellbound. the sunshine is a lady who rox you like a baby.
