I cite my sources and they may differ than other people's accounts, so I don't guarantee the actual accuracy of my videos.

I’ve had several people request this topic. By the way guys use our request form in the description box to let us know what topics you’d like to see us cover so without further adeau, let’s talk about whatever happened to The Smashing Pumpkins Bassist D’Arcy Wretzky.

Growing up in Michigan, D’Arcy Wretzky would be the middle child of three sisters gravitating towards punk and post-punk music.

.Wretzky would tell Addiced to Noise about her upbringing “My mother always played music when I was growing up. We always listened to the radio. My mom played instruments and myself and my sisters were always encouraged to play instruments. I played classical violin for about 9 or 10 years. And oboe ] and I was in choir and everything. It was just always a part of my life. I've done so many different things. I have done a lot.”

In high school she played in a handful of cover bands before moving across the pond to France to join a band that had already disbanded by the time she was set to join. She would head to Chicago with little more than her bass guitar and move in with her sister, join a band and a few months later meet the Billy Corgan who changed her life.

Corgan would come across Wretzky when the frontman was 20 and it was initially an argument over the pair attending the same rock concert that saw Corgan criticizing the band that performed that night. Corgan’s first words to the bassist being and i quote "You're full of expletive"). According to rolling stone . Despite getting off on the wrong foot Corgan and Wretzky shared similar tastes in music with her telling the Flint Journal "I listened to his tapes from the band he was into prior (to the Pumpkins) and I really liked the music they were doing. I wanted to be doing it, too. I loved it."

Despite musically being on the same page, there personalities clashed right off the start with Corgan telling Spin magazine

Well, when I was 20 and met D'Arcy, my whole thing was A, music, music, music, 24-7. And I couldn't understand why D'Arcy wasn't music, music, music, 24-7. D'Arcy was like, "I have to have a life. It can't be that way." And at the time I couldn't respect that.”
The band would round out their lineup with guitarist James I’Ha and drummer Jimmy Chamberlin. The band would release their first album Gish in 1991. It was during the making of the album and tour that I’Ha and Wretzky became romantically involved and subsequently broke up.. I’ha would tell rolling stone “It was really bad,”. “All the normal stuff that would happen between a boyfriend and girlfriend who had broken up after a long time was happening, only we were stuck together. Under normal circumstances we probably would have said…, I’ll never see you again,’ but since we were forced to be together, we eventually got over it. I still feel pretty close to her.” Wretzky would marry Catherine drummer Kerry Brown in 1993. w. They formed Scratchie Records, which has released singles by the Chainsaw Kittens and others. The band’s sop****re record 1993’s Siamese Dream made the band superstars, but with the new found fame came its own set of problems.
Corgan’s controlling style would lead to tensions within the group as he would play most of the guitar and bass parts on the band’s first two albums albums as Wretzky would contend that corgan did this since he could nail the tracks in fewer takes. Adding to the tension was Corgan’s openness to discussing the band’s problems out in the open with him telling SPin in 1993 about playing the guitar and bass parts “I gave them a year and a half to prepare for this record ... yet they continue to keep failing me."Add Jimmy Chamberlin’s substance abuse issues and the band was a powder keg, ready to explode.
During a 1994 piece on the band, Rolling Stone would interview the whole band including Wretzky and the bassist who always seemed press shy was no different hiding her attitude towards Corgan telling the publication My mom always told me,” “if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.” The publication would go o

Lyrics:

a QUIET STORM is in BREWING inside of my mental
i see you critics speaking foolishly and honestly you must not got the memo
my name rings bells from the suburbs to the the ghetto cause the words that I echo
ain't riddled with the typical verbage or innuendoes
TONIGHT'S SHOW's hosted by me not JAY LENO

so by the end of this i’ll have you SWITCHing like NINTENDO
i’m reeking-HAVOC-in every dimension
i-MOBB DEEP-with these lyrical WEAPONS
a-PRODIGY-of paying homage LEGENDS
never OUT OF POCKET check the JEANS (genes) it’s in the GENETICS
every word I spit is DEVICE of a style that’s POETIC
crafted overnight inside a mind where the chronic depression
cripples thoughts till the tension cuts and seeps with intention making songs that everybody needs but refuses to mention
"This is that"
Hip hop shit
i do beats like BETTY CROCKER
I POP-CONS (popcorn) with this HEAT like REDENBACHER
they MICROWAVE they flows mines BENIHANA
"This is that"
Sh sh sh shock ya
TERMINATE-A-FLOW (terminator) you can "G G G GET THE CHOPPA"
my 16’s CHAPEL (sistine chapel) MICHELANGELO'S greatest
i'm spitting proper but they underrate the boi so i'm coming back even
harder
i'm...
Straight from the underground
I'll never dumb it down
anxiety on my chest about 100 pounds
F*ck a melody CHOKING you with these lyrics having GASPING for the OXY-cuz-GEN-Z (oxygen/GEN-Z) been outta bounds
Go bout' a 100 rounds
i never do slow down
they talking sh*t well that KARMA gon' come right BACK AROUND
hit you like a VERB-my-TENSE is past the SPEED OF SOUND and everybody knows that Dax shit is WORLD re-NOUN
who else you know can come and f*ck with the flow
i'm internationally known as the hottest spitter the globe
has ever seen since the time when this sh*t was actually dope and the
f*cking lyrical content was actually touching your soul
i'm not a PROPHET but PROFIT of all the words that i've spoke
i speak on relevant issues currently plaguing the globe
so don't compare me to people who f*cking flex and showboat and flash their material wealth when I f*cking know that their broke
this is the real
YE
low down dirty, 28 pushing 30, a P*SSY could never JERK ME
i keep PREYING (praying) on these beats no wonder they
BEG FOR MERCY, stay dropping NEWARK- like i'm living out there in JERSEY (newark, new jersey)
I be thinking out the box in every category COUNTRY music is easy HIP-HOP labels me corny but when I POP and ROCK the stadiums they’ll adore me, say that they neva hated and call it all HIS-story
ima soldier for God so I don’t ever contend

that i live lifestyle way above you or the 90 percent
i whip a Honda my n*gga ain’t f*cking driving no Benz
Ain’t got no house in the hills
Or white picketed fence
and every dollar get I take go reinvest not scheming in these schemind elites but right back in myself
this is that real rap, type to make you call yo mama and go revisit all the pain from your childhood trauma
not the type
that left rights bout some fake ass drama and then screams Black Lives Matter cuz they vote Obama

wearing Balenciaga while you sit inside your home contemplating spending rent on some gahdamn clothes

Impressing weak ass hoes who only goals is making OnlyFans and getting flown out to get they whole back blown
Its f*cking crazy out here man
Toxic fumes, trains derailed, UFO sightings we all consumed
liberal news, conservatives views we get distracted while those in power jerk off and lead us all to our dooms
Dear god please, calm the civil unrest
societies going crazy and everybodies depressed
the schools are doing to much
our curriculums don’t connect
we confusing these little kids with these books about having sex
F*CK
WHATS NEXT?
These mass shootings more common then 3 pointers from curry and he’s the best (285 in 2022)
Black people still crying and acting like were oppressed when we kill ourselves the most and we envy our own success
everybody’s educated, but lacking the common sense
to see a 4 year degree equals 40 years in some debt
B*tches scream they independent but want a man with some money and if they get em expect him to come in and pay they rent
And if I sound angry f*ck did you expect
28 years breathing in flagrant disrespect
28 years being the kid they wouldn’t accept
This QUIET STORM been brewing so watch I do next...

Today, the Cranberries are one of the most successful alternative rock bands and IRISH bands of all-time. They have sold nearly 50 million copies of their albums. Their mix of dream pop, jangle pop, post-punk, and even Irish folk gave them a distinct sound that is often seemingly ubiquitous with the 1990s. Their success seemed unlikely- a band from a small city in Ireland that mixed heavenly pop songs with dark and often political lyrics- but their success was often driven by the undeniable commanding presence of Dolores O’Riordan, a feminist icon who filled a void in the alternative rock world that countered the grunge movement. Her influence, in particular, is not brought up enough.

While making this video I went back and revisited the Cranberries later albums, and I gotta say, they are just as good if not better than their early stuff, man . I especially recommend their final album, In the End. https://music.youtube.com/play....list?list=OLAK5uy_n6 It’s underrated. But what’s YOUR favorite Cranberries song or album? Also, which band should I cover next for this series? Keep those suggestions coming. Thanks for watching!
