About Darkoo:
Nigerian-born and London-raised, Darkoo’s love for music was nourished within her family home where the sounds of 9ice and D’banj, alongside Fela Kuti and Ebenezer Obey could be heard resonating around the house. A self-confessed ‘Afro-head’, Nigerian superstars such as Wande Coal and Wizkid left a lasting impact on Darkoo, particularly after she moved to London around the age of seven.

In 2019 Darkoo released her stand-out track, 'Gangsta' featuring fellow Londoner and rapper One Acen. Featuring her signature deep husky vocals, the track shot the teenager to fame, quickly becoming a TikTok favourite and was crowned the biggest Afrobeat Song of 2020 and earning her three MOBO nominations.

At just 19, the possibilities for Darkoo seem endless and though the pandemic has no doubt delayed her plans for a headline show her career is already in full motion while fans eagerly await her first EP that she’s currently working on.

나얼의 ‘걸음을 멈추는 날’은 〈Ballad Pop City〉 프로젝트의 세 번째 싱글이다. 〈Ballad Pop City〉는 나얼이 작사, 작곡, 프로듀싱을 맡아 진행된 프로젝트로 ‘이별’이라는 첫 번째 주제로 펼쳐졌다. 성시경의 ‘아픈 나를’, 태연의 ‘혼자서 걸어요’가 먼저 발매되어 많은 사랑을 받았고, 마지막 싱글 ‘걸음을 멈추는 날’은 나얼 본인이 직접 불렀다.

'걸음을 멈추는 날'의 가장 돋보이는 부분은 짧은 곡 안에서 표현해낸 완벽한 감정 변화다. 이별의 아픔을 담담하게 담아내고 있으며, 가사에 부합하는 서정적인 피아노와 스트링 선율이 곡을 채우고, 보컬 또한 체념한 듯 부드럽게 읊조린다.

이별로 아픈 그가 혼자서 걷다 추억에 발을 멈추고 모든 슬픔을 쏟아내는 세 곡의 연속성도 재밌는 대목이다. 첫 번째 주제가 ‘이별’이라고 했으니 다음 발라드 주제가 이어질 것으로 예상된다.

있지(ITZY) 리아가 ‘환혼: 빛과 그림자’ OST의 첫 주자로 나선다.

tvN 토일드라미 ‘환혼: 빛과 그림자’(연출 박준화, 극본 홍정은 홍미란) OST의 포문을 여는 ‘푸른꽃’은 죽음도 두렵지 않을 만큼 먹먹하고 애절한 사랑을 마음에 품고 살아가는 주인공들의 절절한 사랑을 담고 있는 곡으로 파트1과 파트2를 잇는 과거의 서사와 현재의 이야기를 절묘하게 그리고 있다.

이 가운데 리아는 훌륭한 가창력과 표현력 뿐만 아니라 파트1의 스토리 라인과 극중 캐릭터가 선보이는 섬세한 정서까지 완벽히 이해하며 가창에 참여해 더욱 큰 감동을 선사한다.

리아는 매력적인 음색과 깊은 감정 표현 등으로 작업하는 내내 현장 스태프들의 뜨거운 박수를 받았다는 후문이다.

이와 관련, ‘환혼: 빛과 그림자’ 음악 전체를 지휘하고 있는 음악감독 남혜승은 “서로를 알아보지 못한 채 운명처럼 다시 만나게 되는 두 남녀 주인공의 이야기를 가사에 담아내는 작업이 생각보다 까다롭고 어려웠다”며

“파트1과 연결되면서도 파트2만의 새로움도 가미되어야 하는 흔하지 않은 작업이어서 가창자 선정에 많은 심혈을 기울일 수밖에 없었다”고 ‘푸른꽃’ 탄생 배경을 전했다.

‘환혼: 빛과 그림자’은 최근 장욱(이재욱 분)과 진부연(고윤정 분)의 애틋하면서도 강렬한 로맨스의 시작을 알리며 시청률 1위에 오르는 뜨거운 반응을 얻고 있다.

향후 전개에 대한 궁금증이 치솟고 있어 첫 OST인 ‘푸른꽃’에도 기대가 모아진다.
