The Woman Behind Tupac's Rebel Spirit Hotney 4 vistas • 3 años hace

Welcome to the first episode of "Revolutionary Women in History!" In this series, we explore the inspiring stories of women who played pivotal roles in global resistance movements. Today, we delve into the lives of two remarkable figures: Assata Shakur and Leila Khaled.

As we navigate the complexities of ongoing global conflicts, it's easy to feel overwhelmed and distant. However, within these struggles, we discover glimmers of hope embodied by extraordinary women who have fearlessly stood up against oppression.

After polling my Instagram followers, with over 80% in favor, we embark on this journey, starting with Assata Shakur.

Born JoAnne Deborah Byron on July 16, 1947, Assata Shakur is a black leftist and activist with a rich history in the Black Panther Party and the Black Liberation Army, both rooted in Marxist and anarchist ideologies. Notably, she is the godmother of the renowned rapper Tupac Shakur, forming a close bond with Tupac's mother, Afeni, during their time in the Black Panther Party.

Raised in Flushing, Queens, and Wilmington, North Carolina, Assata faced a challenging upbringing, running away from home multiple times. Even in her early years, she knew she deserved freedom from societal expectations. Her aunt, later one of her lawyers, provided crucial support and stability during her childhood.

Join us as we explore Assata Shakur's journey, highlighting her resilience, activism, and the impact she has had on the fight against oppression. Stay tuned for more episodes of "Revolutionary Women in History," where we'll continue to uncover the untold stories of extraordinary women shaping the course of history. Lyrics:

The wound heals but it never does
That's cause you're at war with love
You're at war with love, yeah

These battle scars, don't look like they're fading
Don't look like they're ever going away
They ain't never gonna change
These battle

Never let a wound ruin me
But I feel like ruin's wooing me
Arrow holes that never close from cupid on a shooting spree
Feeling stupid cause I know it ain't no you and me
But when you're trying to beat the odds up
Been trying to keep your nods up and you know that you should know
And let her go but the fear of the unknown
Holding another lover's phone sends you back into the zone
With no Tom Hanks to bring you home
A lover not a fighter on the front line with a poem
Trying to write yourself a rifle
Maybe sharpen up a song
To fight the tanks and drones of you being alone

I wish I never looked, I wish I never touched
I wish that I could stop loving you so much
Cause I'm the only one that's trying to keep us together
When all of the signs say that I should forget her
I wish you weren't the best, the best I ever had
I wish that the good outweighed the bad
Cause it'll never be over, until you tell me it's over

These battle scars, don't look like they're fading
Don't look like they're ever going away
They ain't never gonna change

These battle scars, don't look like they're fading
Don't look like they're ever going away
They ain't never gonna change
These battle

You shouldn't have but you said it
(And I hope you never come back)
It shouldn't have happened but you let it
Now you're down on the ground screaming medic
The only thing that comes is the post-traumatic stresses
Shields, body armours and vests
Don't properly work, that's why you're in a locker full of hurt
The enemy within and all the fires from your friends
The best medicine is to probably just let her win

I wish I couldn't feel, I wish I couldn't love
I wish that I could stop 'cause it hurts so much
And I'm the only one that's trying to keep us together
When all of the signs say that I should forget her
I wish you weren't the best, the best I ever had
I wish that the good outweighed the bad
Cause it'll never be over, until you tell me it's over

These battle scars, don't look like they're fading
Don't look like they're ever going away
They ain't never gonna change

These battle scars, don't look like they're fading
Don't look like they're ever going away
They ain't never gonna change
These battle

'Cause you've set me on fire
I've never felt so alive, yeah

Hoping wounds heal, but it never does
That's because you're at war with love

And I'm at the point of breaking
And it's impossible to shake it

See, you hoped the wound heals, but it never does
That's cause you're at war with love
Hope it heals, but it never does
That's cause you're at war with love!

These battle scars, don't look like they're fading
Don't look like they're ever going away
They ain't never gonna change

These battle scars, don't look like they're fading
Don't look like they're ever going away
They ain't never gonna change

These battle scars, don't look like they're fading
Don't look like they're ever going away
They ain't never gonna change

These battle

Milky Chance - Feeling For You (Official Video) Hotney 4 vistas • 3 años hace

This is the official music video for “Feeling For You,” a song from our album called “Living In A Haze.”

We really loved producing this song. It carries a core Milky Chance sound but still brings across the new production details that are so special for “Living In A Haze.”

LYRICS
It’s been a long time since I’ve seen the colors
Of the sunrise breaking at the dawn
It’s been a long night on the road to nowhere
But you found me somewhere in the dark
You caught me in the moonlight
Pulled me up from under
Now I’m left to wonder
Looking for your love
Falling through the hours
Stuck inside my blue mind
Never wanna lose time
Never get enough

I don’t know what it means
But I know you’re the only reason
I can’t escape the feeling
I’m feeling for you
Never fell so in deep
And now I’m starting to believe it
I can’t escape the feeling
I’m feeling for you

I talk to streetlights down on every corner
But they don’t know where I have to go
So I listen to your voice
In a world so full of noise
One thing I hear
Please don’t disappear
You caught me in the moonlight
Pulled me up to wonder
How you pulled me under
Looking for your love
Falling through the hours
Stuck inside my blue mind
Never wanna lose time
Never get enough

I don’t know what it means
But I know you’re the only reason
I can’t escape the feeling
I’m feeling for you
Never fell so in deep
And now I’m starting to believe it
I can’t escape the feeling
I’m feeling for you

I don’t know, I don’t know
What it means, what it means
I don’t know, I don’t know
What it means, what it means

I don’t what it means
But I know you’re the only reason
I can’t escape the feeling
I’m feeling for you
Never fell so in deep
And now I’m starting to believe it
I can’t escape the feeling
I’m feeling for you

LYRICS:

Some days you’re the only thing I know
Only thing that’s burning when the nights grow cold
Can’t look away, can’t look away, beg you to stay

Sometimes you’re a stranger in my bed
Don’t know if you love me or you want me dead
Push me away, push me away, then beg me to stay

Call me in the morning to apologize
Every little lie gives me butterflies
Something in the way you’re looking through my eyes
Don't know if I’m gonna make it out alive

Fight so dirty but your love so sweet
Talk so pretty but your heart got teeth
Late night devil put your hands on me
And never never never ever let go

Fight so dirty but your love so sweet
Talk so pretty but your heart got teeth
Late night devil put your hands on me
And never never never ever let go

Some days you're the best thing in my life
Sometimes when I look at you I see my wife
Then you turn into somebody I don’t know
And you push me away, push me away

Call me in the morning to apologize
Every little lie gives me butterflies
Something in the way you’re looking through my eyes
Don’t know if I’m gonna make it out alive

Fight so dirty but your love so sweet
Talk so pretty but your heart got teeth
Late night devil put your hands on me
And never never never ever let go

Fight so dirty but your love so sweet
Talk so pretty but your heart got teeth
Late night devil put your hands on me
And never never never ever let go

Blood on my shirt, a rose in my hand
You’re looking at me like you don’t know who I am
Blood on my shirt, heart in my hands
Still beating

Fight so dirty but your love so sweet
Talk so pretty but your heart got teeth
Late night devil put your hands on me
And never never never ever let go

Fight so dirty but your love so sweet
Talk so pretty but your heart got teeth
Late night devil put your hands on me
And never never never ever let go
