Grammy-winning saxophonist presents his new album Like Minds.

Wayne Escoffery tenor saxophone, David Kikoski piano, Ugonna Okegwo bass, Mark Whitfield Jr drums

Wayne Escoffery is one of the most gifted saxophonists in American jazz. A musician with respect for the jazz tradition, but one who looks beyond the smoky jazz clubs of the past. For example, his album The Humble Warrior included an interpretation of a choir piece by composer Benjamin Britten, alongside original compositions. This spring sees the release of the new album Like Minds by The Wayne Escoffery Quartet, which includes collaborations with likeminded jazz giants such as trumpeter Tom Harrell and singer Gregory Porter.

Wayne Escoffery made name in Mingus Dynasty, Big Band, and Orchestra. For more than a decade he played tenor and soprano saxophone in the band of trumpet legend Tom Harrell. With Jeremy Pelt and Jonathan Blake he co-founded the all-star band Black Art Jazz Collective. He has recorded and performed with a who’s who in jazz including Ron Carter, Abdullah Ibrahim, Eddie Henderson, Randy Brecker, and Herbie Hancock. Wayne won a Grammy with the Mingus Big Band, and topped the Downeat Critics Poll in the categories Rising Star Tenor Saxophone, and Rising Star Soprano Saxophone.

HELLYEAH - Welcome Home (Lyrics):

Far off in the distance, the storm’s closing in
The pressure collapsing, bright skies become dim
This scent all around me, give memories new life
Knots that I’ve loosened still tangled inside
Ominous clouds, no sun in the sky
Is this a metaphor, for my tragic demise?
The colors are grey, on my canvas of life
the picture’s complete but the paint just won’t dry

The smell of rain, in the sky
The tears are gone, the well is dry
Why is my feeling of loss like a welcome home, so welcome home
All the light, fades to dark
All that’s good gets, torn apart
Why is this feeling of loss like a welcome home
So welcome home! So welcome home

Those dirty little whispers - demon’s voice in my head
angel over my shoulder - evil needs to be fed
hot flashes turn cold as day turns to night
my head starts to ache because something’s not right
Pour salt in my wounds, I’m cut deep inside
battered and bruised, bones breaking, teeth bite
tattered and torn, pour gas on my life
you can burn up the book, but the pages survive

The smell of rain, in the sky
The tears are gone, the well is dry
Why is my feeling of loss like a welcome home, so welcome home
All the light, fades to dark
All that’s good gets, torn apart
Why is this feeling of loss like a welcome home
So welcome home! So welcome home.

So welcome home, So welcome home, So welcome home, So welcome…

The sky is falling, the sky is falling down
The ocean’s flooding, the oceans are swelling, everywhere all around
The fire’s burning - fire burns me to the ground
what the fuck was I waiting waiting for
All you fuckin little pigs
I’ll blow you down!

The smell of rain, in the sky
The tears are gone, the well is dry
Why is my feeling of loss like a welcome home, so welcome home
All the light, fades to dark
All that’s good gets, torn apart
Why is this feeling of loss like a welcome home
So welcome home! So welcome home

So welcome home, So welcome home, So welcome home

Fantastic Freaks, Cold Crush Brothers, DJ Grand Wizard Theodore (Live at Club Dixie in South Bronx)

Clip from 1983 film "Wild Style".....
The Source has called WILD STYLE "the best hip-hop movie of all time," and it's widely recognized as such worldwide. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inducted the film as one of the "10 Best Rock 'n' Roll Movies of All Time." Rolling Stone rates it #7 on its list of "The Top 25 Music DVDs of All Time," noting, "you'll find exhilarating and rare footage of Fab Five Freddy, Grandmaster Flash and all the spray-painters, rappers and breakers who helped turn hip-hop from a South Bronx musical style into a cultural phenomenon." This seminal visual record of the origins of hip-hop culture now celebrates its quarter-century mark with the special WILD STYLE 25th ANNIVERSARY EDITION from Rhino.

The WILD STYLE 25th ANNIVERSARY EDITION DVD presents a digital transfer from the original 16mm film, a 5.1 audio mix and new commentary from director Charlie Ahearn and hip-hop icon and former graffiti artist Fab 5 Freddy. In addition to the groundbreaking feature film, captured on location in the South Bronx in 1982 - including great subway and train yard shots - the WILD STYLE DVD is now expanded with new interviews with Ahearn, Fab 5 Freddy, Busy Bee and Lady Pink. Also featured are a previously unissued mini-documentary with footage from the 20th Anniversary WILD STYLE concert, a "Bongo Barbershop" DJ battle in the Bronx, previously unreleased photos and other bonus extras.

Narratively, WILD STYLE follows the exploits of maverick tagger Zoro (real life graffiti artist Lee Quinones), whose work attracts the attention of an East Village art fancier (Patti Astor) who commissions him to paint the stage for a giant Rapper's Convention. A documentation of the earliest days of hip-hop in the boroughs of New York, everything in WILD STYLE is authentic - the story, style, characters, and most of the actors, are drawn from the community. It features a pantheon of old-school pioneers, including Grandmaster Flash, Fab Five Freddy, Busy Bee, The Cold Crush Brothers and more.

In its chronicling the influential South Bronx youth culture of the day - before it became globally known - WILD STYLE shows many important hip-hop personalities in their milieu before they went on to reap national acclaim. Chief among these is Fab 5 Freddy, who hosted Yo! MTV Raps from its inception. Director Ahearn credits Freddy for the film's vision of hip-hop as a unified culture. WILD STYLE may not have been the first movie featuring rappers, but it was the first to link graffiti, break dancing, DJing, freestyle MCing and the emergence of the hip-hop nation. It culminates in one of the greatest hip-hop parties in history.

I knew the day would come when someone would bring up Diddy’s former assistant Fonzworth Bentley and it’s once again Jaguar Wright coming through with the tea!

So Jaguar claims that Fonzworth was DIddy’s “concubine” and though Fonz is now a family man with two kids, Jaguar thinks Fonz lives in ATL for a reason…if you know what I mean.

Now, if you remember Fonz, he was that dapper-looking guy that Diddy made follow him everywhere holding a giant umbrella…

A ti no te doy tanto detalle
Pero mis nenas saben la hora, el lugar, no me fallen
Y... no andamos buscando un suggar daddy, si estamos piloteando un bugatti y cada vez
que yo llego al party, tu sabe’
Lo muevo to the left
Lo muevo to the right
No me gustó tu taste
Papi no eres mi size

Shenseea - Waistline. An exclusive live performance for Vevo.

Dancehall culture is as much about personality as it is about musical talent, and Shenseea has both in spades. The Jamaica native can certainly hit the notes, but she’s just as impressive leading crowds with toasts, boasts and more than a little brashness. Maxed-out confidence is right there in the name of last year’s debut: ‘ALPHA,’ an album throughout which the “Diana” singer puts her own desires first. “I’m the one you want/I’m the one you need,” she proclaims on the Tyga-assisted album opener “Target.” Two tracks later she’s going full sexual self-empowerment on “Deserve It,” a pop-leaning bop with a breathy hook a la TLC and Destiny’s Child. That features include both Caribbean staples such as Beanie Man and Sean Paul alongside hip-hop luminaries 21 Savage and Megan Thee Stallion tells you she’s aiming for full crossover cred. “Waistline” certainly does the job, and the only thing this performance is missing is a sweaty crowd dancing alongside her. Advice: Do some toe touches before heeding Shen’s commands.

Dear future husband
Here's a few things you'll need to know if

The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

Lyrics:
And you can dance
For inspiration
Come on
I'm waiting

Get into the groove
Boy you've got to prove
Your love to me, yeah
Get up on your feet, yeah
Step to the beat
Boy what will it be

Music can be such a revelation
Dancing around you feel the sweet sensation
We might be lovers if the rhythms right
I hope this feeling never ends tonight

Only when I'm dancing can I feel this free
At night I lock the doors, where no one else can see
I'm tired of dancing here all by myself
Tonight I wanna dance with someone else

Get into the groove
Boy you've got to prove
Your love to me, yeah
Get up on your feet, yeah
Step to the beat
Boy what will it be

Gonna get to know you in a special way
This doesn't happen to me every day
Don't try to hide it love wears no disguise
I see the fire burning in your eyes

Only when I'm dancing can I feel this free
At night I lock the doors, where no one else can see
I'm tired of dancing here all by myself
Tonight I wanna dance with someone else

Get into the groove
Boy you've got to prove
Your love to me, yeah
Get up on your feet, yeah
Step to the beat
Boy what will it be

Live out your fantasy here with me
Just let the music set you free
Touch my body, and move in time
Now I know you're mine

You've got to

Get into the groove
Boy you've got to prove
Your love to me, yeah
Get up on your feet, yeah
Step to the beat
Boy what will it be

Only when I'm dancing can I feel this free
At night I lock the doors, where no one else can see
I'm tired of dancing here all by myself
Tonight I wanna dance with someone else

Live out your fantasy here with me
Just let the music set you free
Touch my body, and move in time
Now I know you're mine

Now I know you're mine, now I know you're mine
Now I know you're mine, now I know you're mine
You've got to

Get into the groove
Boy you've got to prove
Your love to me, yeah
Get up on your feet, yeah
Step to the beat
Boy what will it be
[Repeat and fade]
