They had everybody singing their 80’s jam, “Dial My Heart” and tweens across America thought they were the best thing since sliced bread. They even worked with Micheal Jackson during the height of their career. Messages from the Boys is the debut album by American R&B group the Boys (now known as Suns of Light). It was released in 1988. Originating from Carson, California, the Suns of Light are composed of brothers Khiry, Hakeem, Tajh and Bilal Abdulsamad. Their parents are Angela Satterwhite and Jabari Abdulsamad (formerly Brown). "Khiry was that overbearing big brother borderline bully-ish kinda" stated by Hakeem. "Hakeem has always been very creative though at times he was the type to throw temper tantrums " stated by Bilal. "Tajh was a tattletail he was not the favorite brother at all" stated by Khiry. "Bilal was like our guinea pig cause he was the baby of the bunch" stated by Tajh. " I was training them to be men at a young age " Jabari stated. Outside of home, Angie and Jabari kept them in a variety of activities.

Their Grandmother taught them singing, dancing, and acting. In the summer of 1984, ages 5 to 10 as "the Boys", the group put all that talent together and headed down to the Venice Beach port walk in hopes of earning money for a Father's Day gift. "I think that day we made like 60 bucks and then after that we took our dad up to dinner and so afterwards he asked us you guys wanna do this on a regular basis?" Said Tajh. They said yes why not? First year they made about 12,000, second year they made 24,000 just in those 3 months. Eventually they started their own business called "The Boys Party Affair Rentals". They did parties, bar mitzvahs, and weddings etc. They also started doing Tv shows like " Gimme A Break.. #DancePop #Motown #NewJackSwing
