John Fogerty: Tiny Desk Concert Hotney 14 Visualizzazioni • 9 mesi fa

Bobby Carter | January 16, 2026
For his Tiny Desk, John Fogerty brought what means the most to him. Family was accounted for: his sons, Tyler and Shane, played in the band, while his wife, Julie, was in the audience. There, too, was Fogerty's distinct brand of patriotism.

We filmed this concert on Nov. 11, 2025, which happened to be Veterans Day. Fogerty tells the crowd that he was inspired to write "Proud Mary" on the day he received his honorable discharge from the Army Reserve in 1968. "I opened my discharge [papers] up, and I was really, really, really happy," he says. "I went right in the house, picked up my Rickenbacker guitar and started strumming, and the very first line that came out of me was, 'Left a good job in the city. Workin' for the man every night and day.' "

The Grammy Award-winning, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee has also spoken candidly about what his songs mean to him. For decades, Fogerty has fought over his catalog as the primary songwriter for Creedence Clearwater Revival, which includes many songs that are considered rock and roll staples. In 2023, he acquired the majority stake of CCR's publishing, ultimately ending the battle. At the Desk, he plays some of his solo work, then closes the set with "Have You Ever Seen the Rain" with some help from the audience.

Lyrics
I'm too scared to fall asleep
Never know what dreams I'll make
Will it be too much for me
Like it is when I'm awake

There's a monster in my mind
He needs somewhere safe to breathe, so do I
and even late at night

I hold hands with him sometimes
when I need a friend, he's there by my side
The monster in my mind

All the wasted therapy
All the walls are closing in
I could tell you where I’ve been
But you won’t believe me when I say

There's a monster in my mind
He needs somewhere safe to breathe, so do I
and even late at night

I hold hands with him sometimes
when I need a friend, he's there by my side
The monster in my mind

There's a monster in my mind
He needs somewhere safe to breathe, so do I
and even late at night

I hold hands with him sometimes
when I need a friend, he's there by my side
The monster in my mind

Live From Daryl's House - Episode #83 - Tommy Shaw from Styx Hotney 18 Visualizzazioni • 4 anni fa

Daryl Hall started Live From Daryl’s House, the free monthly web show in late 2007, after having the idea of “playing with my friends and putting it up on the Internet,” and the show has since garnered acclaim from Rolling Stone, SPIN, Daily Variety, CNN, BBC, Yahoo! Music and influential blogger Bob Lefsetz, who have cited Live From Daryl’s House as a perfect example of a veteran artist reinventing himself in the digital age by collaborating with both established colleagues and newer performers.

Past episodes of Live from Daryl’s House have featured a mix of well-known performers like Smokey Robinson, The Doors’ Robby Krieger and Ray Manzarek, Nick Lowe, K.T. Tunstall, Todd Rundgren, Gym Class Heroes’ Travis McCoy, Fall Out Boy’s Patrick Stump, Finger Eleven’s James Black and Rick Jackett, the Bacon Brothers and country star Jimmy Wayne, along with newcomers such as Philly soul singer Mutlu, Canadian techno-rockers Chromeo, MySpace pop-rock phenom Eric Hutchinson, Cash Money rocker Kevin Rudolf, Wind-up Records’ Chicago rockers Company of Thieves, Bay Area singer/songwriter Matt Nathanson, Charlottesville, VA’s rising Parachute, Chicago rock band Plain White T’s and highly touted tunesmith Diane Birch.

In episode #83 of Live From Daryl's House, Daryl Hall welcomes Tommy Shaw from Styx, where they’ll be performing songs like “Renegade,” “It’s a Laugh,” and more.

Lyrics:
When the King speaks a word
It cannot be overturned
It’s as good as done

And when heaven touches earth
It can never be reversed
It’s the Kingdom come

So get the liars out the way
They don’t have the final say
There is only One

Sovereign and Supreme
Every word He speaks
Is holy

The Lamb of God has overcome
My testimony is His blood
And if He said that it is done
It is done
So be it God

To the One on the throne
Who cannot be overthrown
Sing Hallelujah

To the Last and the First
Ruler of the universe
Sing Hallelujah

To the Alpha, Omega
The Master, the Maker
The Name above

Every other name
Give Him all the praise
He’s holy

The Lamb of God has overcome
My testimony is His blood
And if He said that it is done
It is done
So be it God

The weapons of the enemy
They have no power over me
The One with all authority covers me
So be it God
So be it God
So be it God

From a throne to a cross
Who would pay such a price
For the sin of the world
Here’s your King crucified

See the nails in His hands
See the wounds in His side
See the crown meant to mock
That instead prophesied

That it was not the end
Wipe the tears from your eyes
Don’t forget that He said
On the third He would rise

He’s alive
He’s alive
He’s alive
He’s alive

He’s alive
He’s alive
He’s alive
He’s alive

The Lamb of God has overcome
My testimony is His blood
And if He said that it is done
It is done
So be it God

The weapons of the enemy
They have no power over me
The One with all authority covers me
So be it God
So be it God

It is final
It is written
It is settled
It is finished

See that old grave
He was in it
Now He isn’t
He is risen

It is final
It is written
It is settled
It is finished

See that old grave
He was in it
Now He isn’t
He is risen

Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah

Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah

Like a thief in the night
He’ll return for His bride
Even so, Jesus come
Jesus come split the skies
So be it God
