Today we take a look at the 2009 infamous battle between the band Rage Against the Machine and the horrible reality show the X-Factor and creator Simon Cowell. Every year since 2005 the winner of the X-Factor always had the number 1 single come Christmas time, but in 2009 things changed. A grassroots campaign started by a UK DJ got people to buy the Rage Against the Machine song "Killing In the Name" from the group's debut record.

Now, released in November of 1992, the band's first commercial single, Rage Against the Machine's song, "Killing in the Name" would become the group's signature track. The guitar riff and expletive laden outro of the song made it memorable. It would be inspired by the deadly LA riots of 1992 as well as the Rodney King beating. The song would take aim at institutional racism and the brutality of the police. As you would expect, the large amount of expletives in the song's outro prevented it from achieving much airplay in the United States.

The band found a huge following across the pond in Europe. The song would chart in the UK in 1993, peaking at number 25. It would be strange that 15 years later, the song would make a return to the UK charts but this time at the number 1 spot. It was something that was really unthinkable and shocked a lot of people but how did it happen? Stay tuned to find out.

Christmas time is a big moment for musicians in the UK. It's a general rule of thumb in the country that whatever song tops the charts during the holiday season, will go on to become the biggest selling song of the year. This is a tradition that dates back 50 years to the 70s when rock bands would put out Christmas theme songs or covers.

Come 2005, things started to change a bit in the UK. Now reality TV has been one of the many scurges that has plagued television over the past 20 years and music shows especially have exploded since American Idol's inception in the early 2000s. One of those music shows was the Simon Cowell created X-Factor, which originally started in the UK and migrated across the pond to America in the later part of the decade.

In the UK from 2005 to 2008, each season's winner of The X-Factor would always have the number one song in the country come Christmas time. It was almost like figuring out who was going to win the election of North Korea.

In 2008, radio DJ, John Mortar was sick of Simon Cowell's [bullshit] and launched an online campaign to prevent that year's winner, Alexandra Burke from taking the number one spot. He would urge people online to buy the Rick Astley song, "Never Gonna Give You Up" but the campaign would ultimately fail. Astley's song would not even crack the top 50 in the UK, peaking at number 73. Burke's cover of "Hallelujah" easily took the Number 1 spot that year and became the biggest selling holiday single of all time in the UK.

Come 2009, things would change. In early December of 2009, the same DJ and his wife, Tracy would launch a group on Facebook encouraging people to buy the song, "Killing in the Name" before Christmas in order to prevent the winner of The X Factor that year from taking the Number 1 spot. The campaign would ask people, "Fed up of Simon Cowell's latest karaoke act being Christmas' Number 1? Me too. So who's up for a mass purchase of the track, Killing in the Name" as a protest to the X-Factor monotony?"

The X-Factor winner that year was the person named Joe McElderry who covered the Miley Cyrus song, "The Climb".

Now, the X-Factor song was promising to donate some of their profits to charity, while Rage Against The X Factor campaign encouraged supporters to also give to charity. In fact, a Just Giving page was created to raise money for the homeless charity and shelter, which by December 20th of 2009 had already raised over $100,000 US in funds.

By the middle of December, the group reportedly had over 700,000 members on Facebook and the campaign even caught the attention of Rage Against the Machine guitarist, Tom Morello who lent his support saying, that achieving the Christmas Number 1 would be, as he put it, "A wonderful dose of anarchy," and Morello even planned to donate royalties from the sales of the song to charity.

Morello wouldn't be the only high-profile musician giving their support to the campaign as Dave Grohl, Them Crooked Vultures, Muse and even The Prodigy also voiced their support for the campaign. Also lending their support was heavyweight, Paul McCartney who coincidentally, also appeared on The X Factor with the finalists.

Simon Cowell, for his part, apparently responded to the campaign reportedly calling it "stupid and cynical," but one thing that went unnoticed was that both, the X Factor and Rag

Andy Wood would be Born to a close knit family in columbus, mississippi, 1966. Throughout his childhood his family moved around a lot as his father was in the military. They would live in san antonio texas in the mid 70’s before relocating to bainbridge island in the 80’s, which is a short ferry ride away from Seattle. In his youth, Andrew Wood would find solace in Elton John, Kiss, and T-Rex a sign of what was to come in his musical career. By the time he was in elementary school Andy already started dabbling in drugs, something which would lead to his downfall.
Known for his charismatic style, Andy originally wanted to be a radio DJ even winning a contest in the sixth grade to host a show on a local seattle radio station KZOK called ‘Your mother won’t like it.” It was during this show Andy hosted a three hour program where he told stories, jokes and did comedy bits in addition to playing music. Dave Rees who would be Andy’s bandmate in the band Malfunkshun would recall in the book Everybody loves our town “i remember talking to andy after that and he seemed a little disappointed because he wanted to be a dj but he realized that there was no immediate feedback. There was no audience. And that really bummed him out. He actually told me. Well now i’m gonna have to be a rockstar. According to Kevin Wood, Andy’s older brother it would be a concert andy saw in middle school where cheap trick opened Kiss that made Andy want to become a rockstar.
Before we can talk about Mother Love Bone, we have to talk about another band that preceded it Malkfunkshun. Andrew Wood would form the band with his older brother kevin when he was just 14 . The brothers would end up recording their first demo tape during easter sunday in 1980 when they were left home alone while their family was at their grandmothers house. His brother Kevin used to work as a dishwasher at a restaurant and remembered seeing a sign above the dishwasher that said ‘report malfunction’ before the name got trimmed down to malfunkshun with an alternative spelling. Originally malfunkshun was a four piece, but was scaled down to a three piece with Andy playing bass and doing vocals while his brother kevin played guitar and they enlisted punk drummer Regan Hagar. Dave Rees who was Malfunkshun’s original bassist for a short period of time said in the book Grunge is Dead: “Malfunkshun was the loudest and most entertaining band I’d ever seen. Yes, they were louder than motorhead.”
Andy’s brother Kevin would recall in the same book “everyone had a good time at a malfunkshun show. It was an open minded sort of feeling. I was afraid first of offending the sensibilities of the punk rockers. But they welcomed us with open arms. I think we opened up doors for bands to just come out, be themselves and play. It’s kind of what started the whole evolution of the punk turns into the rock
While many associate grunge with flannel, one of the earliest so called grunge bands was Malfunkshun, which didn’t wear flannel. Wood would model his stage persona after theatrical performers including Marc Bolan, Freddie Mercury, Elton John and Prince. He would take the stage name L’Andrew The Love Child while his brother would take on the name Kevin stein and their drummer Regan Hagar would become THundarr. Unlike a lot of his peers Andy wanted to be a big star, perform in arenas and create music that appealed to the masses. Andy was so single minded in his pursuit of success that according to Kerrang he said he would even open for Warrant.
Andy’s on stage persona became the stuff of legends in seattle, telling jokes in between songs, one story had him even making a san

I cite my sources and they may differ than other people's accounts, so I don't guarantee the actual accuracy of my videos.

Keith Moon played a crucial role in the Who’s early success. But as much as he’d receive acclaim for his distinctive drumming, he’d also gain notoriety for his self-destructive behavior. In fact, Moon would die in 1978 at the young age of 32 as a direct result of such behavior, right as the band were celebrating the release of their seminal eighth album, Who Are You. Today, we’ll explore the life and death of Keith Moon, the Who’s best-known drummer.
Keith Moon was born in 1946 in London, England, and raised in Wembley. Moon was thought to have a restless imagination as a child, and took a strong liking to British radio comedy, while music resonated with him just the same. Moon grew up in a post-World War 2 environment, and like many children at the time, was oblivious to the anxieties that remained prevalent. On an episode of the docuseries Living Famously, music journalist Tony Fletcher would surmise how Moon, as well as other children, processed the world around them, saying,
“The kids who grew up…don’t have their parents’ experiences of the war. They don’t understand their longing for this peaceful, quiet life, and to be quite honest, they’re bored; that’s the bottom line,” adding, “You throw Keith into this, and there really can’t be any question that he would’ve qualified these days as being hyperactive.”
By 1961, rock music expanded its reach worldwide. Moon was a teenager at this point, often performing poorly in school, and as a way to channel his hyperactivity, he started taking drum lessons at age 14. During one of The Who’s first visits to America, Moon would recall his initial experience with playing drums before the lessons took place,
“It’s too far back to remember, but I can talk about when I first got interested in wanting to play an instrument. [It] was the Beach Boys who really started me playing drums. I hadn’t really thought about playing an instrument until I heard music that I wanted to play [along to]. I’d have a kit and just play along with a record in my room, and then I’d join a group and do some stuff with them,” he’d say.
When asked if he’d played along to other records besides the Beach Boys, Moon would respond:
“Yeah, I liked Eddie Cochran and Dionne [Warwick]. There were mainly American groups in those days, because Britain wasn’t really playing a lot of stuff. There were a few English [acts] then, but they didn’t impress me; I can’t remember any. It was like that until the Beatles came along, and then I started to have a serious outlook on playing.”
Moon’s drum tutor would be Carlo Little, who was well-known as the drummer for the musician Screaming Lord Such, and who’d profoundly influence Moon’s playing, as he taught him the unrestrained, hard-hitting style he’d become famous for.
Little would comment on just how intense their lessons would get, even to the point of going overtime. “Instead of an hour, or an hour and a half, [they] would be three or four hours. Sometimes, we’d have the amplifiers going so loud that we started to see the ceiling crack, and bits of plaster falling off the walls,” he’d say.
After several years playing professionally, Moon became competent in his musicianship, and by 1964, he’d audition for The Who. Prior to his joining, he was drumming for another band, The Beachcombers. Meanwhile, The Who were an up-and-coming R&B cover band consisting of frontman Roger Daltry, guitarist Pete Townshend, bassist John Entwistle, and an indefinite replacement for previous drummer Doug Sandom, who was normally the peacekeeper in the band. Townshend discussed in a 1975 interview how Moon auditioned for the band, and was taken aback by his appearance, saying,
“Keith Moon rolled up one day, ginger all over – ginger shoes, ginger corduroy trousers, ginger jacket, and his hair died ginger, holding a glass of brown ale – this complete ginger vision.”
“[He’d come] up and say, ‘I can play better than him.’ [He was] this horrible impudent…got up on the drummer’s drum kit, and practically smashed it to pieces.”
“We thought, ‘This is the man for us,’” he’d say.
As mentioned in the 2014 book Rockin’ In Time, Moon was quoted with explaining the experience in further detail, saying,
“I got behind this other guy's drums and did one song, 'Roa

#smashingpumpkins #billycorgan

I cite my sources and they may differ than other people's accounts, so I don't guarantee the actual accuracy of my videos.

By the mid 90’s the smashing pumpkins were one of the most popular rock bands in the world. First bursting onto the scene in 1991 with their debut album Gish. They built a bigger following with 1993’s Siamese Dream. In 1994 the band headlined Lolapalooza and the following year they released their epic two disc cd Melancholy and the Infinite Sadness. The band was riding high and living the dream at least according to many outsiders, but that wasn’t the case. During the band’s tour in 1996 to support their third release, drummer Jimmy chamberlain and keyboardist johnathan melvoin were dabbling in drugs resulting in deadly cfonsequences. That’s what were going to discuss in today’s video.

Chamberlin’s days with the band date back to their early years when they were made of of frontman billy corgan, guitarist james iha and bassist d’arcy wretzky. Up until this point the trio were playing live shows using a drum machine. Chamberlin would express his interest in joining the band telling modern drummer magazine in 1994 “So I went out and saw the band – Billy, James, and D'arcy – playing at Avalon with a drum machine. Man, did they sound horrible! They were atrocious. But the thing I noticed was that not only were the song structures good, but Billy's voice had a lot of drive to it, like he was dying to succeed. So I ended up driving from work every Wednesday to rehearse with them.

Corgan would recall how he didn’t think Chamberlin initially was a good fit saying He was wearing a pink t-shirt, stonewashed jeans, had a mullet haircut, was driving a 280Z, and had yellow drums recalling We were sort of looking each other in the eye thinking, 'This ain't gonna happen, this is not the guy.' [But] he'd learned all our songs, as only Jimmy can, off the top of his head, and, within one practice, we were ready to play. It was amazing. We just knew right away. He's that good. Chamberlain would join the band on their debut album gish. But by the time the band began work on their second album siamese dream, Corgan felt the band was on the verge of breaking up. According to Details Magazine who interviewed the band in 1993 Corgan’s decision to air the band’s dirty laundry in the public created a lot of resentment within the group. In the article Corgan would be quoted as saying. "I hated all my friends, I hated myself, I hated the band." Corgan would enter therapy which forced him to talk more openly about his emotions, write songs about them and become more honest sometimes to the detriment of his bandmates. He soon started talking about the Smashing Pumpkins internal problems. How James Iha and D'Arcy Wretzky dated, but broke up and and Drummer Jimmy Chamberlin’s drug addiction. He would tell the same publication "The idea that the stance was to tell the story and force it into the open..but did it have the intended effect the interviewer would ask corgan to which he’d respond “...no, in fact i think it killed the band.’

When it came time for the groups second album, In order to keep production costs low Corgan relocated the band to Georgia, but there was another reason for going to Georgia, Chamberlain’s debilitating drug addiction. Rolling Stone would report in 1993 Aside from the lower production costs, they chose to record in Atlanta on the theory that Chamberlin would have a hard time attracting his usual coterie (co-ter-ee) of hard-core partyers there. The theory was wrong. Buckling under the pressure, Chamberlin would show up sometimes too wasted too play and once disappeared for five days. Corgan laid down the law: Either shape up or ship out. Chamberlin shaped up in a rehab clinic. It worked. Rolling stone would write.

Johnathan Melvoin, was a later arrival to the band first joining them in late 1995 as a touring keyboardist. He had an impressive resume up until this point in his career playing with musician prince and performing in a number of punk bands including the dickies.. Melvoin’ was exposed to music as a young child coming from a musical family. His father played piano in the 80’s era group Wrecking Crew and most famously played wi

Sublime was a ska-punk and reggae band that never got to properly experience their success. By the time their third album came out the band ceased to exist and most of their new fans had no clue the group was done. Today let’s take a look at the history of the band Sublime.

Growing up in the long beach neighbourhood of belmont shore, Frontman and guitarist Bradley Nowell came from a musical family. His father worked as a homebuilder who played guitar in his spare time.. His father became known for playing covers of Jim Croce (crow-che()) songs at parties while his mother was a piano teacher. His parents would give him his first guitar lessons. But by the time he turned 10, his parents would divorce with his mother taking custody of her son. She would tell VH1’s behind the music that nowell was a needy child and struggled in school becoming disruptive and suffered from attention deficit disorder. Feeling overwhelmed by Bradley’s behavior, he started living with his father at the age of 11 who took his son on a sailing trip around the US virgin islands. It was here where he got his first exposure to Bob Marley and reggae music which would be a huge influence on Nowell’s career in music.

Upon returning home from the sailing trip, Nowell was now a teeanger who would play in punk rock bands in the early 80’with bassist Eric Wilson. Wilson would recall how early jam sessions weren’t very successful telling the LA Times
“He was making me play (reggae). I didn’t want to play it,” with Nowell adding
“I was trying to get them to do ‘Cherry Oh Baby,’ (a song popularized by British reggae band UB40), and it didn’t work. They tried, but it just sounded like such garbage,“We were horrible.”
Nowell and Wilson’s band would be put on the backburner while Nowell went off to college. He would attend UC Santa Cruz for two years before he decided to study finance and transfer to Cal state. He only had one semester left before he dropped out recalling to the lA Times
“I have all the hard classes left. . . . I doubt I’ll ever go back.”
By this time NOwell returned to Long Beach and it was 1988, Hed reconnec with Wilson who called an old neighbour he grew up with across the alley named of his Bud Gough (Gawww). Gaww was taught drums by Wilson’s father who was a jazz drummer. Sublime’s lineup was now born. They would jam in Gaww’s garage and one of the first songs they wrote would be, well since this is youtube i’m not going to say the song’s title because last time i said this word i got in trouble so let’s just called it Date Expletive. If you know Sublime then you’ll know which song im referring to.THe band soon established a big following playing backyard parties and dive bars in southern california in front of hundreds of kids, earning upwards of $250 a night .
Gaww would tell Spin Magazine “we were like the band that everybody in the scene would show up for. If you were having a party that night and you had us play there would be two other parties that night in the same neighbourhood, everybody was going to be at the sublime party.
Wilson would recall to the LA Times We played some pretty rough neighborhoods,” “You’d have to be afraid of your own safety. Gangster kids would show up at the parties, and there would be trouble. Somebody got stabbed one time.” The gigs were so rough that Spin Magazine reported that samoan guards would provide security at the gigs and the police would be a frequent presence hovering over the gigs in their helicopters if they played past the noise curfew.
In 1990 Nowell rescued a dalmatian named Louie sometimes referred to as Lou Dog which was named after his grandfather and became the group’s defacto mascot. He was also referred to as Nowell’s alter-ego He would join the band on the road and onstage. During the spring of 1990 Michael “Miguel” Happold (happol) a music student offered to manage the band enticing them with an offer of free studio time at the school he attended. He became the de-facto fourth member of the band, helping prodoce their music, helping run their affairs and record label. The band by this point had al

Founding Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist Hillel Slovak would die at just 26 in 1988. Prior to his death, Slovak was struggling with addiction, while on the cusp of a critical and commercial breakthrough with the band’s third album. But over three decades since his passing, Slovak would be regarded in shaping not only the band’s early musical direction, but their continued success to this day. This is his story.
Hillel Slovak was born on April 13th, 1962, in Haifa, Israel and would move to the United States with his family, initially to Queens, New York and then settling in Los Angeles, California five years later. Slovak took interest in painting as a child, but focused more on music in his teens, when he got his first guitar as a bar mitzvah present. By the time he attended Fairfax Highschool, Slovak befriended Michael Balzary, better known as Flea, and drummer Jack Irons, both of whom would become his future bandmates. In the meantime, Slovak found his footing as a hard rock and metal-based lead guitarist, taking note from Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, and Kiss. He’d form his first band in the late 70s with friends from school – Irons would be on drums, Alain Johannes (alan yo-hanis) on vocals and rhythm guitar, and Todd Strassman on bass. The band started out as Chain Reaction, then as Anthem, and later, Anthym with a ‘y.’
These days, fans can now get a good idea of what Anthym sounded like, thanks to the recent discovery of a few of their demo tapes. On October 6th, 2021, Johannes, who had later achieved fame in the 90s as the frontman for the band Eleven, unveiled one of Anthym’s early demos through his Instagram page, an eight-track tape from 1979 called Paradox. On his post, he writes, “Found this cassette deep in a box…can’t believe it still kinda plays.”
Two weeks after that post, it was revealed that another Anthym demo, this time from 1980 called Forever Love, was discovered by Blast Music Management owner Aaron Jacoves, who had obtained it from Total Annihilation Studio. Between the two tapes, you can sense the fluidity in Slovak’s approach, as he moves from the straight-ahead blues rock of Black Sabbath to the arena rock of early 70s-era Rush.
By the early 80s, Anthym would compete in Battle of the Bands contests, and also manage late night gigs in the local bar scene, even though all its members weren’t of legal age. After one of those performances, Slovak met another Fairfax High student, Anthony Kiedis, in the audience, who was a budding actor at the time. Kiedis recalled the experience in his 2004 autobiography, Scar Tissue, saying,
“I usually felt like the leader in most of my relationships with kids my age…but I immediately knew that Hillel was at least my equal, and in fact knew a lot of things that I didn’t.”
“He understood a lot about music…was a great visual artist, and…had a sense of self and a calm about him that were just riveting.”
Once Kiedis was in the picture, the group became fast friends, and would bond over music and casual drug use. Kiedis acted as Anthym’s roadie, as well as their hype man for live gigs. Eventually, the band changed their name to What Is This, switched their sound from hard rock to new w

Lyrics:
hi
are you looking for the other side?
feel like nothing ever seems quite right?
are you circling the drain pipe,
getting off on pain like
you’re corrupted?
i need to know where your loyalties lie
tell me are you gonna bark or bite?
do you really want to twist the knife
in the belly of the monster?
get the fuck up
wake the fuck up
wipe the system
and back the fuck up.
you’re a puppet
when they cut your strings off
don’t come crawling back.

kingslayer
destroying castles in the sky
kingslayer
forevermore the apple of my eye
i’d sacrifice my life to find you
angel of the blade
kingslayer
come and collect us from the night

暗い (Cry)
この見えない世界
まだ消えない未来
ただ手に入れたい

another world
this world is so dark that i can’t see
the future won’t disappear
but i want to obtain
another world

system failure
life
is encrypted
you are modified
like a virus
in a lullaby
artificial ‘til the day you die
silly programme
you’re corrupted!
get the fuck up
wake the fuck up
wipe the system
& back the fuck up.
you’re a puppet
when they cut your strings off
don’t come crawling back
you’re on your own.

さあ 時の
扉を開けて
行こうよ

(now, let’s go
and open the door of time)

kingslayer
destroying castles in the sky
kingslayer
i’ll fight for you until i die
kingslayer
destroying castles in the sky
kingslayer
forevermore the apple of my eye
i’d sacrifice it all to guide you
never have to battle alone
kingslayer
come and collect us from the night
this is your wake up call
we’re going down the rabbit hole
are you ready?
i can’t feel you.

this is what you’ll fucking get.

Blur is an English rock band formed in 1988, consisting of vocalist Damon Albarn, guitarist Graham Coxon, bassist Alex James, and drummer Dave Rowntree. The band was central to the 1990s Britpop movement. They achieved mass popularity in the UK, aided greatly by a chart battle with rivals Oasis in 1995, which was dubbed the “Battle of Britpop”.

Their self-titled fifth album, released in 1997, incorporated influences from the lo-fi styles of American indie rock groups, and the album became their third to top UK charts.

“Song 2” is the second track, and the single, from this self-titled album. This song was atypical of Blur’s previous style as it sounds the least like the rest of the band’s Britpop catalogue. When the band originally wrote the song, they wanted to play it for their label as a joke, because they thought it was far too noisy and horrible to ever be released as a single. However, the label loved it!

The song was written to poke fun at the Grunge music that was bog in America at the time. Graham Coxon was tired of doing complicated parts and wanted to do something simple, but horrible and make as much noise as possible. The song was tracked in Maison Rouge Studio, with the vocals recorded live, and lots of fuzz and distortion on the guitar, producing the loud, extreme sound Coxon was aiming for. The song also featured two drum kits, with Dave Rowntree and Graham Coxon both banging on the drums simultaneously.

The track’s title was originally just a working title, representing the track’s placement on the album, but the name stuck. In the end, the numerology works out well, as the song is not only the second song on the album, but is 2 minutes and 2 seconds long, features 2 verses and 2 choruses, and eventually peaked at #2 on UK charts.

Soundgarden, Courtney love, pavement,

The smashing pumpkins frontman and leader billy corgan has feuded with many bands and musicians over the years. Today let’s take a look at some of his more notable feuds that don’t involve ex-bandmates and if i’ve missed any put them in the comments section below.

Collective Soul

Collective Soul ascended to prominence in the mid 90’s with their 1994 hit single Shine from their debut album. The song was a huge hit topping the US Mainstream rock charts and it was also a crossover hit peaking at number 11 on the US billboard hot 100.

It was during that the time that Shine took off, The Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan slammed Collective Soul in the press referring to Frontman Roland as a "shameless rip off artist" According to Cleveland.com Corgan was upset over how similar the song sounded to the smashing pumpkins track, Drown. Corgan was so upset that he sued Collective Soul in the mid 90’s but Roland was able to produce a demo of the song that dated back to 1989, which predated the formation of the Smashing Pumpkins. It was rumored that Collective Soul for their second album, which was self titled and came out in 1995 wrote a diss track about corgan in 1995 called Smashing Young Man. While Corgan isn’t named in the track there are lyrics like "synthetic-like," and saying he lives in a "self-lit spotlight

And as recently as 2020 Ed Roland gave an interview to Cleavland.com where he clarified what the song was about saying

everyone thought that because he was busy smack-talking about us all the time -- which didn't bother me at all. It's just a fun song, and the next thing you know Billy starts coming at me again and I'm like, "Dude! No, no no..." And finally, there was one point where I just said, "Yeah, it was written about him, sure. Whatever he wants to think, I don't care." But I love Smashing Pumpkins. If I ever met Billy, I'd tell him what a great musician, great songwriter he is. I've got nothing negative to say. I've got other things to do in my life than to bitch about people
The Smashing Pumpkins would surprisingly cover “Shine” at a show in 2010 briefly and heres what happened..” Whoa, heaven let your light shine down. I hate that song. What a rip off of my band. Fast forward to
2019 and Billy Corgan was answering fan questions on Instagram when one fan asked the frontman if he ever made peace with collective soul to which he responded ‘F*** Collective soul, now and always.’

Soundgarden
Billy Corgan gave an interview in 2012 with Philstar just before playing a show in the Philippines where he singled out the band Soundgarden who he labeled as a nostalgia act for making money off playing their old tunes. Soundgarden would reunite in 2010 after a 13 year break. Corgan would say there are bands that are essentially coming back to only make money playing their old albums &maybe somewhere in the back of their minds they are thinking that their might be a future. I'm not in that business obviously. .I condemn anybody whose in that business, but doesn't admit he's in that business. When Soundgarden came back and they just played their old songs. Great! Iwas a fan of Soundgarden. But call it for what it is. They are just out to have one more round at the till he'd say.

The same month Corgan appeared on a a radio station and seemed to indicate that it was Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell who started the feud the frontman told an interviewer in 2007 that he didn't consider the Smashing Pumpkins reunion at that point in timeas he put it to be legitimate. In 2007 Corgan had reunited with original drummer Jimmy Chamberlin but not the rest of the original band, leading many in the press and in their fanbase to criticize Corgan. Corgan would claim in that same interview

An Cornell would retaliate a few months later in 2012 telling ABC Radio
"When Billy Corgan was completely broke, I got him a movie deal with [director] Cameron Crowe where he made $40,000. He was very happy about that, and he was specifically happy about the $40,000. So

Nipsey Hussle joined me on "Good Day L.A." on November 15, 2018 to promote his album, clothing, and community work.

My colleague at the time, Leah Uko, had just done a profile of his efforts to transform his neighborhood.

Little did we know at the time that he'd be dead just a few months later...killed by Eric Holder on March 31, 2019.

Hussle's legacy of community work lives on...as the Marathon continues.

It was an honor to conduct this interview on FOX 11 Los Angeles.

2Pac - I Ain't Mad At Cha (Music Video) HD
2Pac - I Ain't Mad At Cha (Music Video) HD Hotney 1 Görünümler • 3 yıl önce

Music video to 2Pac performing I Ain't Mad At Cha featuring Danny Boy. From the album All Eyez On Me © 1996 DRR

Lyrics:
Now we was once two brothas of the same kind
Quick to approach a ghetto cutie with the same line
You was just a little smaller but you still roll
Got stretched to Y.A. and hit the hood swoll
'Member when you had a jheri curl never quite learn
Drinking 90 proof on the roof trippin' off sherm
Collect calls to the till, sayin' how ya changed
Oh you a Muslim now, no more dope games
I just got the phone call, heard you got bail
Wanna go to the Mosque, No time for females
I’m losing touch with my homie he’s a changed man
He hit the pen and now no sinnin' is the game plan
When I say I’m living large, all you see is the struggle
When I say I’m still thugging, all you see is the trouble
Congratulation on the weddin', I hope your wife know
She got a playa for life, and everybody miss ya
I know we grew apart, you probably don’t remember
I used to fiend for your sister, but never did get with her
And I can see us after school, we’d BOMB
On the first playa hatas with the wrong set on
Now the whole things changed, ‘cause we don’t even kick it
Got a big money scheme, and you ain’t even with it
Hmm, knew in my heart you was the same young brotha that
When it’s time for war go toe to toe we’ll watch a brotha’s back
I can’t even lie, 'cause I ain't laughin' at cha
You tryin' hard to maintain, but go ahead
'Cause I ain’t mad at cha
(Hmm, I ain’t mad at cha)

[Hook: Danny Boy]
I ain't, mad, at cha
I ain't mad at cha
I ain't, mad, at cha

[Verse 2: 2Pac]
We used to be like distant cousins, fightin', playin' dozens
Whole neighborhood buzzin', knowin', that we wasn’t
Used to catch us on the roof or behind the stairs
I’m gettin' blitzed and I reminisce on all the times we shared
Besides bumpin' 'n' grindin' wasn’t nothin' on our mind
In time we learned to live a life of crime
Rewind me back, to a place was much too young to know
I caught a felony lovin' the way the guns blow
And even though we seperated, you told me you’d wait
Don’t give nobody my lovin' while I be locked up state
I kiss my Mama goodbye, and wipe the tears from her lonely eyes
Said I’ll return but I gotta fight the fate’s arrived
Don’t shed a tear, 'cause Mama I ain’t happy here
I’m through trial, no more smiles, for a couple years
They got me goin' max, I’m knockin' busters on they backs
In my cell, thinkin', “Hell, I know one day I’ll be back”
But as soon as I touch down
I told my girl I’ll be there, so prepare, to get loved down
My homies wanna kick it, but I’m just laughin' at cha
Y'all play too many games, but I ain’t mad at cha

[Hook: Danny Boy]
I ain't, mad, at cha
I ain't mad at cha
I ain't, mad, at cha

[Verse 3: 2Pac]
Father forgive us for livin' while all my homies stuck in prison
Barely breathin' believin' that the world is a prism
It's like a ghetto we can never leave
A broken rose givin' bloom through the cracks of the concrete
So many other things for us to see
Things to be, our history so full of tragedy and misery
To all my homies never made it home
The dead peers I shed tattooed tears for, when I'm alone
Picture us inside a ghetto heaven, a place to rest
Findin' peace through this land of stress
In my chest I feel pain come in sudden storms
Life full of rain in this game watch for lead thorns
Our unborn never got to grow, never got to see what's next
In this world full of countless threats
I beg God, to make a way for our ghetto kids to breathe
Show us sign, make us all believe
'Cause I ain't mad at cha

[Hook: Danny Boy]
I ain't, mad, at cha
I ain't mad at cha
I ain't, mad, at cha
I ain't, mad, at cha
I ain't mad at cha
I ain't, mad, at cha
