Khadija El Warzazia’s Bnat el Houariyat & Esraa Warda: Tiny Desk Meets globalFEST 2023 Hotney 2 Streams • 4 years ago

For the third year, Tiny Desk concerts team up with globalFEST for a thrilling online music festival — Tiny Desk meets globalFEST.

Bob Boilen | January 30, 2023
Hosted by Angélique Kidjo, the series echoes globalFEST’s live flagship event in spirit but is centered in the framework of the Tiny Desk concert series. This collaboration presents exclusive video performances from nine artists filmed in their respective homelands, on the road and in exile all over the world. There will be three nights of concerts, each featuring three bands, on consecutive nights beginning Jan. 24 at 8 p.m. ET. The globalFEST team wrote the following biographical information about each performer.

Khadija El Warzazia’s Bnat el Houariyat & Esraa Warda, Morocco / Algeria / USA
Khadija El Warzazia’s Bnat el Houariyat & Esraa Warda is a pairing composed entirely of women artists: Bnat el Houariyat from the heart of Marrakech performs women’s celebratory and trance music, including chaabi and houara. The group’s percussion and call-and-response singing and complex polyrhythms build into a deeply transporting sonic experience. It is accompanied by the mesmerizing Algerian-American dancer Esraa Warda, a “rebellious spirit” known for her profound performances of the trance-like jedba hair-swaying dance.

EXIT 2019 | Solomun b2b Tale Of Us Live @ mts Dance Arena Hotney 2 Streams • 4 years ago

Solomun b2b Tale Of Us Live at Exit festival 2019!

Mladen Solomun better known under his stage name Solomun, is a Bosnian-German DJ and techno producer. He is a three-time DJ Awards winner for Best Producer and Best Deep House DJ.

Solomun plays a major role in redefining European house music with productions, remixes and DJing by taking the very building blocks of House and deftly reconstructing them with a modern twist.

A respected underground DJ and producer for a number of years, his stratospheric rise in popularity kicked off in 2012. The same year Mixmag Magazine voted him as “DJ of the Year.

EXIT is the two-time winner of the “Best Major European Festival” award along with the continuous recognition by the global music stars, fans and media alike.

Held each year at the 18th Century colossal Petrovaradin Fortress in the city of Novi Sad in Serbia, EXIT started as a student movement whose massive protests brought down the oppressive regime in Serbia. EXIT became the first mass event to gather all the people in Balkans after a long decade of divisions.

Celebrated as a place where hedonism meets activism, it is the social relevance of EXIT that has made it unique and globally recognized hosting stars like The Prodigy, Arctic Monkeys, Madonna, The Killers, Sex Pistols, Guns’n’Roses, Arcade Fire, Beastie Boys, David Guetta, Carl Cox, Nina Kraviz, Patti Smith, Motorhead, LCD Soundsystem, Wiz Khalifa, Snoop Dogg, Wu-Tang Clan, Andy C, DJ Shadow, and countless many more at 30+ stages in nearly two decades since its inception in 2000. So far, EXIT hosted a worldwide audience of over 2.5 million visitors from 60 different countries.

EXIT Team now runs five festivals in five neighboring countries, EXIT in Serbia, Festival 84 in Bosnia, Sea Star in Croatia, Revolution in Romania and Sea Dance in Montenegro.

Lyrics:
I thought I knew you well
But all this time I could never tell
I let you get away
Haunts me every night and every day
You were the only one
The only friend that I counted on
How could I watch you walk away
I'd give anything to have you here today
But now I stand alone with my pride
And dream that you're still by my side

But that was yesterday
I had the world in my hands
But it's not the end of my world
Just a slight change of plans

That was yesterday
But today life goes on
No more hiding in yesterday
Because yesterday's gone

Love, my love I gave it all
Thought I saw the light
When I heard you call
Life that we both could share
Has deserted me
Left me in despair
But now I stand alone with my pride
Fighting back the tears I never let myself cry

But that was yesterday
Love was torn from my hands
But it's not the end of my world
Just a little hard to understand

That was yesterday
But today life goes on
You won't find me in yesterday's world
Now yesterday's gone

Goodbye yesterday
Now it's over and done
Still I hope somewhere deep in your heart
Yesterday will live on

Lyrics: Ooh Ooh

Tried calling yesterday but got your voicemail again
Rushed over to your Uni hall, saw her leaving your place
You said you fucked up on a night out
You drank way too much, you're feeling bad now
You're tryna figure out how to worm your way out
Well, look at what you've done
You said you'd never do
You fucked it for yourself
This is the end of me and you

So don't call this number anymore
'Cause I won't be there for you like I was before I should of listened to my friends
They always know best
They said you were just like all the rest, so I'll sing it loud in case you don't already know

Pack up your shit and go, go, go, go
Go, go, go, go
Pack up your shit and go, go, go, go Go, go, go, go
You said it was a one time thing
You don't know what you were thinking
That it didn't mean a thing
You promise it won't happen again
So when you get fucked up on a night out
How many times have you played around?
Was a fool, didn't see the signs I guess my friends were always right

Well, look at what you've done
You said you'd never do
You fucked it for yourself
This is the end of me and you

So don't call this number anymore
'Cause I won't be there for you like I was before I should of listened to my friends
They always know best
They said you were just like all the rest, so I'll sing it loud in case you don't already know

Pack up your shit and go, go, go, go
Go, go, go, go
Pack up your shit and go, go, go, go
Go, go, go, go

I can't trust you anymore
Look what you've done
You've turned this heart cold
And I don't know if I can love again
But I know for sure we can't be friends
This is the end

Stop calling this number anymore
'Cause I won't be there for you like I was before I should of listened to my friends
They always know best
They said you were just like all the rest, so I'll sing it loud in case you don't already know Pack up your shit and go, go, go, go (go)
Go, go, go, go (go)
Go, go, go, go Go, go, go, go (I should of listened to my friends)
Go, go, go, go ('cause they always know best) Go, go, go, go, uh I'll sing it loud in case you don't already know
Pack up your shit and go

7 Steps to The Perfect Bass Hotney 2 Streams • 4 years ago

►► Learn how to make any bass with my 12-Step Sound Design Bible (FREE): http://bit.ly/3vLlk1E. Bass is the foundation of any modern track, and in this video I show you how you can pick the perfect bass sound for your track.

Whether you are producing house, techno, trance, drum ’n’ bass - or any other genre - locking in your bass early on really helps define the vibe and direction of the track.

In this video I share my bass selection process, to take some of the guesswork out of it and speed up the whole production process.

Here are the 7 steps:

1. Deciding on the vibe / bass category
2. Programming the bass line
3. Hot-swapping the sounds
4. A/B testing
5. Separating the sub-bass / mid-bass
6. Augmenting the bass
7. Processing the bass
