(ft. Diddy, Murphy Lee, Snoop Dogg & Ludacris)

After the party it's the Waffle House
If you ever been here you know what I'm talkin about
Where people don't dance all they do is this
And after the original you know what it is

[Ludacris]
Welcome to Atlanta

[Jermaine Dupri]
Remix it had to go down
I got somethin else to tell you 'bout the new Motown
Where people don't visit, they move out here
And ain't no tellin who you might see up in Lennox Square
I don't know about you but I miss the freaknik
Cause that's where my city use to be real slick
People from other cities use to drive from miles
Just to come to get a taste of this A.T.L style
I'm the M.B.P., Most Ballin-ist Player
Make my own moves, call me the mayor
Monday night you know things change with time
Magic City back lookin like eighty nine
All the homies on the southside up in the Ritz
Tuesday night, the Velvet Room same shit
Wednesday Strokers I don't go no mo'
Cause they don't know how to treat you when you come through the do'
Thursday night, was Plush but we moved the fuel
And I be up in the booth drunk actin a fool
Friday night, at Kaya they still got love
And the Sharkbar we poppin like it's a night club
Saturday still off the heezy fo' sheezy
You can find me up in One Tweezy
Sunday gettin me some sleep please!!!
I'm on my way to the deck then hittin Jazzy Tee's, holla!!!

[P. Diddy]
Ay yo I'm from New York man!!!
Representin N.Y.C. to the fullest
I pull it, Heads be duckin in New York be bussin
Take that....

[P. Diddy]
Welcome To New York mutha fuckas, where we don't play
And out of towners get got like everyday
And a gangstas a gangsta in every way
Sittin on twenty two's this what long money do
Now the don's on it, Diddy shine on it
Tell Flex to run it back and drop a bomb on it
Sunday we layin low and hay lo sippin cris and we straight
Monday we go to Bungalow 8
Tuesday I'm in spa drunk doin the shake
And for the rest of the week we just follow the freaks
You can spot us out of town by the way that we walk
The way that we talk, cocky the state of New York
Hot now top down at the Rucker game
New coup no roof playa what's my name?
Now Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, Staten
Uptown what now?! let's make it happen

[P. Diddy Talkin]
New York,if you can make it here, you can make it anywhere
We still here!!! And we buildin four more new towers!!!!

[Murphy Lee]
Who say St. Louis ain't hip hop? Dirty we hop to what's hip
I'm a lunatic with too much grip to let a slip
I'm so St. Louis, ask my tatooist
I was like the waterboy now they sayin you can do it
I'm Baby Houie one of the best in the Louie
Sip Louie smoke louie, dressed in Louie
Home of back porches, chucks, and air forces
Old school cars be trailblazin like Portland
The girls are the best like Travis with fat asses
I call 'em gimme girls they always tell me I can have it
All got habits Marijuana exstatic
By two cats and coats with automatics
St. Louis is the truth like Sojourner
Don't need a burner, we learned from Ike Turner
I tried to told ya don't cross that bridge
Without permission from those St. Lunatics

[Jermaine Dupri Talking]
Yo-yo-yo-yo
Ladies and gentlemen, we got the big Snoop Dogg in the house tonight
He just came from off tour

[Snoop Dogg]

Now laters, jellybeans, and wallabees
Real niggas from the set I'm hardly ever seened
Mostly heard us sell a bird off the cizzurb

Alot of homies like to wear there pizzerm
Hair longer than hers short with the fizzurbs

Like Kobe to Shaq now take that
(Jermaine Dupri: Take that take that)

And sittin by the sea, R.I.P.

Head to the church house to get a little workout
Smoked out drink up, now put ya bank up

Crank up the beat, raise up the heat
I'm thrownin a block party on two one streets, fo' sho

[Jermaine Dupri]

Big beats, hit streets, see gangsters roamin
And parties dont stop 'til eight in the mo'nin

[Ludacris]
Welcome to Atlanta where the players play
And we ride on dem thangs like ev-ery day
Big beats, hit streets, see gangsters roamin
And parties don't stop 'til eight in the mo'nin

"Back & Forth" is the debut single performed by American singer Aaliyah for her debut studio album, Age Ain't Nothing but a Number (1994). The song was written and produced by R&B singer R. Kelly, and lyrically the song is about a teenager's excitement for partying on the weekend with friends. "Back and Forth" has been described as being a dance/pop/R&B and new jack swing song. Aaliyah sings in a "laid back" style. Blackground and Jive released the song as the album's lead single on April 8, 1994, to generally positive reviews with many critics praising the song's lyrical content and Aaliyah's vocal delivery on the record.

Commercially "Back & Forth" performed well peaking at number five on the US Billboard Hot 100 on the week ending on July 2, 1994. The song was just as successful on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart where it topped the charts on the week ending on May 21, 1994, eventually spending a total of 3 weeks at number one on the chart. The song also topped the Rhythmic top 40 charts on the week ending on July 9, 1994. On June 9, 1994, the song was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Towards the end of 1994 Billboard reported that the song had sold over 700,000 copies.

"Back & Forth" has been described as being a dance, pop and R&B song. Quinn Peterson from Jet labeled the song as new jack swing-oriented. On the song, Aaliyah sings with a "subtle, laid-back vocal" while she talks about partying with her friends during the weekend. According to Billboard, "It doesn't matter that Aaliyah is 15. It's the freakin' weekend, baby, so she's picking up her ladies—presumably in her jeep—and hitting the local party spot".

When asked about the lyrical direction of the song, Aaliyah stated: "It's not a song about love or whatever; it's about going to a party and having fun. I have songs about love, crushes, or whatever, but that song is about dancing. This album is about teens and what they go through." Entertainment Weekly described the song as a "steamy invitation to dance all night" with Aaliyah requesting to "let the funky melody put you in the mood".

Internationally "Back & Forth" performed moderately well peaking within the top 20 at number 16 on the UK's official chart. Also in the UK the song peaked within the top 20 at number 16 on the Official Dance Chart. Elsewhere in Europe the song peaked within the top 40 at number 38 in the Netherlands. The song's accompanying music video was directed by Millicent Shelton in Aaliyah's hometown of Detroit. The actual video location was at Aaliyah's high school and on the day of the video shoot many local teens were recruited to be in multiple scenes of the video.

The accompanying music video for "Back & Forth" was directed by Millicent Shelton and it was filmed on January 16, 1994, which was Aaliyah's 15th birthday and released in February 1994. The video was filmed at Detroit's High School for the Fine and Performing Arts which was the school that Aaliyah attended. Prior to filming the video both Aaliyah and R.Kelly worked on dance moves and the styling for the video. On the day of the video many local teens were recruited to be in multiple scenes of the video. When Aaliyah discussed her experience shooting her first music video she said "That was my first video, but Millicent made me comfortable Between takes, she listened to the music of Tupac, Wu-Tang, and Gang Starr, They all rap on an intellectual level”.

he video opens with a male entering a (school) gym, bouncing a basketball. When the song kicks in, there are cuts of people entering the gym and people playing basketball. Aaliyah enters wearing baggy clothing, a bandana and shades. She sings the song by the gym's entrance. In other parts of the clip she is seen dancing in the middle of the gymnasium with a crowd moving around her, sitting with R. Kelly in the bleachers and performing on a stage to her fans. The original setting was chosen for the music video in Los Angeles, but was relocated to her hometown of Detroit because of an earthquake.

Madonna sampled "Back & Forth" on her song "Inside of Me" from her sixth studio album Bedtime Stories (1994), which was released a few months after "Back & Forth". In October 1994 the song was nominated for Best New R&B/Urban Artist Clip Of The Year at the Billboard Music Video Awards.

LYRCS

Losing control
I don’t seem to carry on
Always chained
Past that haunts me

Left alone
I don’t seem to get along
Always hated
Those fools that lied to me

Erase my soul as the enemy shrink
All his sins turning sacred as he lives

From my mouth, drop of blood
Look like poison, I wish it’d hurt
You will rot

You made me feel like a shot to hell
Sabotage my feelings, you played me well
The way you left me bruised, was calculated
Everyone believed in you, but I won't let myself get shaken

Phoenix
Rising from the ashes
Of the aches of the world

Phoenix
Rising from the ashes
Of the aches of the world

I’m the one who was left unknown
Now I know this is my home
I won’t let you destroy what’s left

I’m the one you left to burn
I’m a Phoenix, I’ve returned
I’ve been reborn from the ashes

Cry no more
Your time has come
Collect your bones
Cut the bond

Seize the pain
You’re not insane
To revenge for the suffering
You’ve been through

As I approach the second floor
It reminds me of past nights of torment
Swallowing my voice, I'll never forget

The beating, the hunting, my blood
The chains, the words, my screams
My screams

As soon as I enter your room
You try to put me down
Some people never change

Even on your deathbed
Your purpose has always been
To fuck with my mind

Phoenix
Rising from the ashes
Of the aches of the world

Phoenix
Rising from the ashes
Of the aches of the world

I’m the one that took you down
You won’t hurt anyone now
Your corpse will remain in oblivion

You will rot
You will rot
You will rot
