‘K-밴드 레전드’ FT아일랜드가 정규 7집 ‘Serious’로 컴백했다.

정규 7집 ‘Serious’는 FT아일랜드를 둘러싼 고정 관념을 깨부수는 앨범이다. 세상이 정의한 ‘나’에서 벗어나 본연의 ‘나’를 가감 없이 보여주며, 계속해서 나만의 길을 걸어가겠다는 FT아일랜드의 강한 의지를 담았다. 전작 미니 9집 ‘Sage’ 이후 10개월 만의 신보이자, 정규 6집 ‘Where’s the truth?’(2016) 이후 약 8년 만의 정규 앨범이다.

정규 7집 ‘Serious’에는 더블 타이틀곡 ‘BURN IT’, ‘Serious’ 포함 총 10곡이 수록돼 있다. FT아일랜드가 전곡 작사, 작곡에 참여해 팀 정체성을 더욱 강화했다. 더블 타이틀곡 중 하나인 ‘BURN IT’은 불가능해 보이는 것들을 뛰어넘어 새로운 시작을 모색하는 이들을 위한 노래다. 심플하게 반복되는 베이스 리프와 멤버들의 강렬한 보이스가 돋보이며, 그 뒤를 잇는 나른한 분위기의 코러스 멜로디는 귀에 계속해서 맴도는 중독성을 가지고 있다. 정규 7집 발매 전 선공개돼 뜨거운 관심을 받았다.

앨범명과 동일한 ‘Serious’는 미니멀하고 다크한 트랙으로 시작해 변치 않는 목표를 향한 굳건한 결심을 Choir로 표현해 점차적으로 웅장해지는 사운드를 보여 주는 것이 특징인 곡이다. 반복되는 가사인 ‘Walkin’ till I die’는 장애물을 넘어 자신만의 길로 계속해서 나아가겠다는 멤버들의 강력한 의지를 담았다.

신보는 더블 타이틀곡을 비롯해 ‘내게 전해 줄 노래 (Letter to Myself)’, ‘AQUA (Korean Ver.)’, ‘Sunrise Yellow (Korean Ver.)’, ‘T.I.V (Tears In Vain)’, ‘INFERNO’, ‘My Birthday (Korean Ver.)’, ‘나침반 (Journey)’, ‘理由 (Reason)’까지 FT아일랜드의 폭넓은 스펙트럼을 확인할 수 있는 음악들로 채워졌다.

함께 공개된 ‘Serious’ 뮤직비디오에는 긴 시간 한 길을 걸어온 FT아일랜드가 어떠한 장애물에도 꿋꿋하게 앞을 헤쳐 나가는 모습이 그려졌다. 험난한 여정일지라도 굳건하게 정진하겠다는 FT아일랜드의 뚝심이 담겨있으며, 앞서 공개된 ‘BURN IT’의 음원 및 뮤직비디오와는 또 다른 분위기를 자아내 FT아일랜드의 컴백을 손꼽아 기다린 팬들에게 다양한 즐거움을 안겼다.

FTISLAND, ‘a legendary K-band’, is back with their 7th album, ‘Serious’.

The 7th album, ‘Serious’, destroys stereotypes people have about FTISLAND. It contains FTISLAND’s strong will to break away from “themselves” the world defined, show their true “selves”, and take their own path. It is their new album in ten months since their 9th mini album, ‘Sage’, and their new full-length album in about eight years since their 6th album, ‘Where’s the truth?’(2016).

The 7th album, ‘Serious’, contains a total of ten songs, including the double title tracks, ‘BURN IT’ and ‘Serious’. FTISLAND participated in writing and composing all songs in the album and strengthened the band’s identity. ‘BURN IT’, one of the double title tracks, is a song for those seeking a new beginning by overcoming seemingly impossible obstacles. The song is characterized by a simple, repetitive bass riff and the members' powerful voices, followed by a languid chorus melody that has an addictive quality, lingering in the listener's ears. The album received a lot of attention with a pre-release before the official release of the 7th album.

‘Serious’, the song with the same title as the album, starts with a minimal and dark tone and features a gradually grander sound, expressed through a choir that represents an unwavering determination towards an unchanging goal. The repetitive lyrics, “Walkin’ till I die”, convey the members' strong will to overcome obstacles and continue forging their own path.
