Madison Beer - Envy the Leaves. An exclusive live performance for Vevo.

It takes a minute to grow up. And for a lot of us, much more than a minute. But nothing feels better than when someone gets comfortable with themselves and their wealth of emotions. Check Madison Beer’s devastatingly candid memoir ‘Half Of It’ for an account of the mind-boggling pressures put on the young artist as she kicked-off her career several years ago. Growing up in public ain't exactly easy. But also check the way she’s moved forward since. Her perfectly titled ‘Life Support’ debut was a clutch of songs that reflected those pressures, and began a crucial metamorphosis - one that delivered the pop world a valuable new voice. From “Good In Goodbye” to “Selfish,” Beer was heard taking control of her music, and therefore her self-expression. We all felt the results of that move, and became full-tilt Madison fans pretty quickly. With this fall’s ‘Silence Between Songs,’ the hard work of reclamation once again proves fruitful. The “Reckless” singer has leveled up since her 2021debut, and the maturity and inspiration that peppers the ‘Silence Between Songs’ tracks speaks for itself. "I have had an intense life, especially these younger years," she has said. "Now that I’m a little older I try to be nice to myself." And more creative with her music. She and producer Leroy Clampitt worked and worked on the final product, with Beer's fierce scrutiny making each new version of the program that much closer to the dreamadelic sound she heard in her head. "I wanted people to be able to put headphones in and close their eyes and see everything,” she's said. The result is a gem. "Reckless" and "Sweet Relief" are great indicators of the album's overall approach. When she arrived at our studio for a stripped-down version of heartbreaking "Envy The Leaves," she stopped time.
