LYRICS
I've known faces that have disappeared in time
Find me wrapped in glass and slowly soaked in lime
All my friends have pictures made to make you cry
I've seen this and wondered what I've done to calcify
(I ignore you)
As I close my eyes I feel it all slipping away
(I come toward you)
We all got left behind, we let it all slip away
I can't stand to see your thalidomide robot face
I don't even try it! You had to be a liar
Just to infiltrate me - I'm still drowing
(I ignore you)
As I close my eyes, i feel it all slipping away
(I come toward you)
We all got left behind, we let it all slip away
...Take...this...away...
I can feel it on my mouth
I can taste you on my fingers
I can hear you like the holy ghost
And kill you if you get to close
No set of long talk! Drink Water and Mind Yuh Business!

Tiny Desk has featured some of the best music across various genres throughout our 18-year history; however, Lecrae is the first Christian rapper to perform at NPR headquarters. I felt guilty when I mentioned this to the Houston-born emcee, only because it's taken so long. If we're putting a spotlight on faith-based hip-hop, we had to start with Lecrae.
Hip-hop originated in the streets; its growth has been slow and steady, with faith often appearing as a caveat in the music. It felt acceptable to mention God without getting too preachy, but if you went past that line, an obsession over authenticity stigmatized Christian rappers. And then Lecrae cracked the code: His devotion is unapologetic and consistent through the lyrics, but everything else, from the production to delivery, feels real and earned.
For his set, Lecrae aptly kicked things off with "Coming in Hot," and breezed through seven more tracks from his catalog, including 2024's "Die for the Party," a song inspired by Kendrick Lamar's "Watch the Party Die," in which Lamar reflects, "Sometimes I wonder what Lecrae would do."

In this episode of Club Shay Shay, Shannon Sharpe sits down with the legendary Bobby Brown—the original bad boy of R&B, Grammy Award–winning icon, New York Times bestselling author, and chart-topping phenomenon.
Bobby dives into founding Bobby Brown Foods with his wife and shares his love for cooking—especially his unbeatable fried chicken. He reflects on whether his kids will follow in his entertainment footsteps and reveals his all-time favorite song he’s written.
Bobby breaks down his songwriting process, his dynamic collaborations with producer Teddy Riley, and gives us a front-row seat into the making and legacy of My Prerogative. He even reacts to Britney Spears' controversial remake and opens up about being inspired by icons like Michael Jackson, Prince, Rick James, and Stevie Wonder.
He shares the real story behind MC Hammer asking him to wear parachute pants and reveals how New Edition taught Michael Jackson how to moonwalk sideways, reflecting on his favorite memories of the King of Pop. He also weighs in on Chris Brown vs. Usher as Michael Jackson’s closest successor and recounts meeting Usher for the first time.
From naming his favorite modern artists—SZA, Tems, Jazmine Sullivan, Anthony Hamilton, Bruno Mars—to addressing the hot debate ("Is R&B dead?"), Bobby keeps it real. He drops his Mount Rushmore of R&B singers (Prince, Michael, Marvin, Stevie), reflects on Don’t Be Cruel selling 12 million copies, and gets candid about streaming's impact on artists, the importance of owning your masters, and surviving fame from a young age. He also opens up about being kicked out of New Edition, how predatory music deals cost him $30 million, and why going solo was the best decision of his career.
Bobby names his top four singing groups of all time—Gap Band, Jackson 5, New Edition, and Kool & the Gang—and reveals his best and worst purchases, including the wild story of spending $1 million in a single day. He reflects on the pain of being taken advantage of by family and friends, and the loss of one of his closest friends to gun violence. He also shares the pride of building his own studio—where artists like OutKast recorded.
From Donald Trump’s cameo in his “On Our Own” video to his run-ins with the law—including getting arrested for dancing with a fan in Georgia—Bobby tells it all. He talks about working with Martin Lawrence in A Thin Line Between Love and Hate, starring in Two Can Play That Game, and why he regrets turning down a role in Strictly Business with Halle Berry and Tommy Davidson.
Bobby looks back fondly on his time on Real Husbands of Hollywood with Kevin Hart, Nick Cannon, and Nelly, and opens up about the intense experience of his reality show with Whitney Houston. He also talks about being shot by an ex-boyfriend of his then-girlfriend—and his romance with Janet Jackson in the '80s. The R&B superstar shares his mission with the Bobbi Kristina Serenity House, a charity created in honor of his late daughter.
From the highest highs to the most heartbreaking lows, Bobby Brown proves once again why he’s not just a music icon—he’s a cultural legend. Don’t miss this powerful and unfiltered conversation.

The story of The Black Keys feuds
Podcast on Apple Podcasts
https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/....podcast/the-rock-n-r
My second YouTube Channel
https://www.youtube.com/@RockNRollTrueStories2
From the garage rock revival of the early 2000s to arena-filling, Grammy-winning success, The Black Keys have carved out a unique place in modern music. Created in a basement in Akron, Ohio, Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney built a career on a raw, blues-infused sound that felt both timeless and immediate. They are one of the last big rock success stories of their era.
But their journey is more than a tale of musical triumph. It is also filled with feuds, insults, and burned bridges. From a long-running rivalry with Jack White to public spats with pop stars, classic rock legends, brands, and even streaming services, The Black Keys have a knack for conflict. Are they misunderstood blunt Midwesterners in a fake-smile industry, or rock’s most confrontational band with a chip on their shoulder the size of Ohio?
The story begins in Akron in 2001. Auerbach had a gig but his band did not show, so he asked neighbor Patrick Carney, who was supposed to be recording, to play drums. They recorded a demo in a few hours and realized they had something special. They called themselves The Black Keys, inspired by a local outsider artist who used the phrase “black keys” for people who were not quite right. Their early albums, like The Big Come Up and Thickfreakness, were raw, lo-fi, and critically adored.
From the start, comparisons to The White Stripes followed them. Both were Midwestern guitar-and-drum blues-rock duos, and the press loved the narrative. Jack White drew lines in interviews, and rumors swirled when The Black Keys moved to Nashville. Things exploded when leaked emails from White’s divorce revealed harsh words about Auerbach and accusations of copying. Patrick Carney called the situation embarrassing but sympathized with White’s private comments being exposed. Later, a tense encounter in a New York bar led Carney to claim White tried to start a fight, before both sides publicly made peace.
Carney’s outspoken nature fueled other feuds. When asked about Justin Bieber not getting Grammy nominations, he replied that Grammys are for music, not money, and that Bieber was already very successful. Bieber fired back on social media, and his fans flooded Carney with insults. In later interviews, Carney did not soften his stance, further cementing his reputation as someone who speaks his mind regardless of the fallout.
The band also criticized posthumous Michael Jackson releases as a label-driven move, joked about ICP’s fanbase, and stayed off streaming services for years to protest low payouts. Eventually, they joined streaming platforms but remained critical of the model. More recently, a poorly handled arena tour, disputes with management, and a controversial “America Loves Crypto” performance led them to speak out against what they see as a consolidated, billionaire-driven industry.
So why do The Black Keys seem to fight with everyone? Part of the answer is Patrick Carney’s unfiltered candor. Part of it is the long shadow of the Jack White feud, which pushed them into a defensive posture early on. And part of it is their growing frustration with a music business they view as exploitative. Through it all, they have clung to a stubborn sense of authenticity, even when it costs them allies.

Cure For Paranoia wants you to believe in yourself. Perseverance, plus a whole lot of talent, is what got the Dallas hip-hop collective to our space after submitting to the Tiny Desk Contest four years in a row.
Here, between laying down clever verses alongside his ten-piece band, frontperson Cameron McCloud introduces the group and their mission. “Ten years ago, I was placed on medication for bipolar depression and paranoid schizophrenia — but it turned out that music was way more therapeutic than medication was, so I created this band, this brand, this movement, called Cure For Paranoia,” he shares. “Making music with these people is my therapy, so hopefully the music we create can be therapy for other people as well.”
No matter how many major names have stopped by the Desk, discovery is still the heart of the series. The Tiny Desk Contest, which we host annually in search of the next great undiscovered artist, is a perfect example of that. This year, we received more than 6,000 entries from independent artists across the country, but one act had undeniable star power. Among our judges, the decision to crown Cure For Paranoia was unanimous.
Each song performed here was once a Contest submission. And each verse in the group’s winning song, “No Brainer,” comes from a project where McCloud posted a new rap verse on Instagram every day of 2025. The last song — called “That Kid Cam,” which is what McCloud went by when he was selling CDs at the mall as a kid — is a set highlight that showcases McCloud’s magnetism, the group’s dynamism and just how far they’ve come since they started believing in the power of their music together.

Lil Rel slides to Club Shay Shay and takes us on a hilarious and heartfelt journey through his life, starting from the tough streets of the Westside of Chicago. He reflects on the impact of A Different World on his desire to pursue entertainment while recounting high school days filled with tragedy, dodging the pitfalls of gang life through the guidance of his dad. Lil Rel shares his parents’ economic strategy of Payless shoes over Nikes which lead to a private school education that transformed his dialect. With humor and humility, Lil Rel dives into the roots of his comedy passion, inspired by friends and late-night TV. He opens up about his mother's unwavering support, tackling bullying, and discovering his comedic calling in high school. The episode explores Chicago's comedy environment, citing comedic legends like Bernie Mac, while Lil Rel shares intriguing encounters with Katt Williams and R. Kelly. Lil Rel offers reflections on Kanye West's artistic impact, the struggle of losing a mother which both Chicago natives share and the turbulence of Ye’s personal and public lives. As Lil Rel unveils his Mount Rushmore of Chicago rappers, the conversation turns into a comedic congressional assembly because just four names is too limiting for Lil Rel’s list. Lil Rel continues the laughs and insights as he delves into his remarkable journey in the comedy world by discussing the multiple “big breaks” he’s had in Hollywood. Lil Rel discusses the reality of doing ComicView in New Orleans right before Hurricane Katrina. Lil Rel goes on to talk about building friendships with comedy giants like Kevin Hart and Cedric the Entertainer and gives his top 5 current comedians of all time. He fearlessly addresses the generational gap in comedy, spills the tea on his beef with Katt Williams, and what it took to impress Keenan Ivory Wayans and secure a role on the In Living Color reboot. Lil Rel also explains why the reboot never made it to air. Lil Rel's deep bonds with Jerrod Carmichael and Tiffany Haddish take center stage, providing a glimpse into the positivity and camaraderie that fuels his success. He opens up about Hollywood's pay disparities for Black entertainers, his role in Jordan Peele's Get Out, and the unexpected turns in his career, from Free Guy with Ryan Reynolds to Bird Box with Sandra Bullock. With humor and candor, Lil Rel reflects on his personal life, from proposal antics at a Beyoncé concert to navigating the complexities of blended families. Don't miss this captivating continuation, filled with laughter, behind-the-scenes tales, and Lil Rel's unfiltered perspective on fame, friendship, and family dynamics.
