Lyrics:
Back when I was a child
Before life removed all the innocence
My father would lift me high
And dance with my mother and me
And then
Spin me around 'till I fell asleep
Then up the stairs he would carry me
And I knew for sure
I was loved
If I could get another chance
Another walk
Another dance with him
I'd play a song that would never ever end
How I'd love love love
To dance with my father again
When I and my mother
Would disagree
To get my way I would run
From her to him
He'd make me laugh just to comfort me
yeah yeah
Then finally make me do
Just what my mama said
Later that night when I was asleep
He left a dollar under my sheet
Never dreamed that he
Would be gone from me
If I could steal one final glance
One final step
One final dance with him
I'd play a song that would never ever end
Cause I'd love love love to
Dance with my father again
Sometimes I'd listen outside her door
And I'd hear how mama would cry for him
I'd pray for her even more than me
I'd pray for her even more than me
I know I'm praying for much to much
But could you send her
The only man she loved
I know you don't do it usually
But Dear Lord
She's dying to dance with my father again
Every night I fall asleep
And this is all I ever dream

Lyrics:
Even when the sky is grey it never rain
Even though I’m miles away I feel your pain
I been tryna find the words but can’t explain
I don’t got the words to say I feel ashamed
Wish I can be there for you in the way you need me
Hope you knowing that my heart ain’t empty

Uh, I’m lost in my thoughts again
Tryna connect the dots from my heart to pen
Hard for me to take another loss again
A part of me don’t even wanna talk to them
‘Cus who knew it’d be you
I never thought
Soon as they told me you know you ripped me apart
You like a brother my homie yeah you my dawg forreal
Got me wishing I could call you still
Just pick up to reminisce
I drop a tear for every call that I missed
We used to sit up at the park and just kick shit
Let me stay over after dark learning kickflips
Just pick up to reminisce
We supposed to link with all the bros and get lit
But Gello even though you gone you’ll be missed
Forever in our hearts cause your soul still exists

And even when the sky is grey it never rain
Even though I’m miles away I feel your pain
I been tryna find the words but can’t explain
I don’t got the words to say I feel ashamed
Wish I can be there for you in the way you need me
Hope you knowing that my heart ain’t empty

It’s heavy when I walk
Stutter when I talk
I can’t even think
Cluttered with my thoughts
I can’t even sit straight
Movin’ at a sick rate
Spendin’ I been running through racks in the vault
Loadin’ up the cart
Retail therapy
I ain’t taking care of me
I’m eating, well barely
Working on my album.. How, with no clarity?
The energy a thousand miles away burry me
I feel for my big sis she a soldier
Just lost her everything
Them nights feel colder
Gotta hit the road again
Even though she need a shoulder
I feel guilty I didn’t hold her
Lost her mom and she kept her composure
To keep going when them walls got closer
A role model in my eyes
Kept the family alive
Holidays got us all comin’ over

So even when the sky is grey it never rain
Even though I’m miles away I feel your pain
I been tryna find the words but can’t explain
I don’t got the words to say I feel ashamed
Wish I can be there for you in the way you need me
Hope you knowing that my heart ain’t empty

Lyrics (English Translated) -

Hook:
Midnight, Dhaka City, Dhaka Drift, vroom vroom
Rickshaw with an engine, mama (uncle) pulling, vroom vroom
Don't teach me violence, Excuse me silence
Step aside, my life's racing, vroom vroom vroom

1st verse:
Spotlight, B roll, camera zoom zoom
Song's like Fatman, scene's like Nagasaki, when I drop it, boom
Stay tuned for the legend of Bangla rap, coming soon
Critical for my foes, for homies, I'm Khaled Mahmood

Cooking bangers, all eyes on me, everyone's a stranger
In this game, they be claiming the best player, but I'm the game changer
All of 'em goat (sheep), call me goat slayer
They call me bro in favour, in reality, they're all backstabbers

Don't waste dad's money, all these chicks want beef
I serve them Kala Bhuna (traditional beef curry)
controversy? I'm the base topic of their discussions
They're all fans bro, no offense bro, stalking and keeping all the updates
Why hire a manager, while they're tracking all my movements

Hook:
Midnight, Dhaka City, Dhaka Drift, vroom vroom
Rickshaw with an engine, mama (uncle) pulling, vroom vroom
Don't teach me violence, Excuse me silence
Step aside, my life's racing, vroom vroom vroom

2nd verse:
Cry babies screaming, trying anything for some clout
Without variation, same topic, same flow, getting bored
See, I got no competitor, only competing with myself
We get it, you're the big dawg, now stop being desperate, it's been too long

I'm the ring master, running this circus
You're a puppet of entertainment, I'm the culture
Not saying I'm perfect, but keeping it proper
Not like these part time rappers, being full-time jokers

My country's S****y (National news channel) tried to stop me
And my S****y (time) gave me a chance to stand up
Got all the blessings and prayers from my parents
That's why the fake news couldn't stop me

Visions are solid, love being cursed by haters and claps from my listeners
Fighting like Khalid Bin Walid, walking on quicksand (can't hold me down)
Vroom Vroom, my life is on top gear
Vroom Vroom, trying to boycott critical for fear

Hook:
Midnight, Dhaka City, Dhaka Drift, vroom vroom
Rickshaw with an engine, mama (uncle) pulling, vroom vroom
Don't teach me violence, Excuse me silence
Step aside, my life's racing, vroom vroom vroom

Lyrics
It’s August first in a parking lot
And there’s a guy with a radio
He’s sure got a lot to say
Got a lot to sell
So I’ll look the other way
And there’s a girl with a cigarette in her mouth
She’s on the phone I can tell she’s from the south
She’s walking backwards wants to be an actor
Why am I listening

It's so much easier to focus on the things
That don’t involve me

This is the hottest summer I can ever remember
Cuz the world is on fire
And hey if we’re all dying
Then what does it matter?
We’re a natural disaster

There’s a preacher and he's on the tv
He says the world is ending
And you can get free if you want to
Another useless breakthrough
Closer to the truth

It's so much easier to focus on the things
That don’t involve me
This is the hottest summer I can ever remember
Cuz the world is on fire
And hey if we’re all dying
Then what does it matter?
We’re a natural disaster

And what if I don’t wanna give up yet
I haven't seen enough of it?
And what if we just listened for a change
Instead of acting like we know it all?
Cuz we know nothing at all
Yeah we know nothing at all
This is the summer of our discontent
And baby we’ve gotta change it

This is the hottest summer I can ever remember
Cuz the world is on fire
And hey if we’re all dying
Then what does it matter?
We’re a natural disaster
This is the hottest summer I can ever remember
And hey if we’re all dying
Then what does it matter?

Lyrics:
Feelin’ like a wreck, finna’ to jump
Ain’t stressin’ no more (Jump) x2 (Jumping)
Hate me but you hurt me
So I say that I don’t love you no more (Sad) x2 (Let down)

Higher, I am laying in the clouds where I like to be
I know you’re mad, but only at yourself
Cause it wasn’t me

You keep loving yourself (Keep loving yourself)
Cause you never could love somebody else

Live fast, stay numb, is all I ever wanted to be
Sharp teeth, sharp tongue, is the only way you’re treating me
I’m wasted, Im drinking, I’m blacking out
This road that I’m taking, no backing down
Live fast, stay numb, is all I ever wanted to be

I hate to love you now, I hate the feeling I get when you come around
It’s funny that you thought that you could really hold me down
Say you love me, then you turned my world upside down
The only person that can hold me is me

I bet you hate it now
Even though you really thought you had me figured out
It turns out that I’ve been better off alone, without ya
Oh, I’ve been better off alone

You keep loving yourself (Keep loving yourself)
Cause you never could love somebody else
I keep hating my self (Keep hating myself)
Cause I never could love somebody else

Live fast, stay numb, is all I ever wanted to be
Sharp teeth, sharp tongue, is the only way you’re treating me
I’m wasted, Im drinking, I’m blacking out
This road that I’m taking, no backing down
Live fast, stay numb, is all I ever wanted to be

Ohhhh, it’s all I ever wanted to be
Ohhhh, it’s Thats all I ever wanted to be
Live fast, stay numb, is all I ever wanted to be

Sukiyaki (Ue o Muite Arukou) - Kyu Sakamoto (English Translation and Lyrics) Hotney 11 Streams • 3 years ago

I uploaded this video a few years ago, because it's one of my father's favourite songs and it reminds me of my childhood when he would play it on the cassette player. It's wonderful to read the daily comments people leave on how they are connected to this song. It's no wonder that this song is played every single day by so many people.

Sukiyaki (Ue o Muite Arukou)- Kyu Sakamoto (English Translation and Lyrics)

About the Lyrics

The lyrics tell the story of a man who looks up and whistles while he is walking so that his tears won't fall. The verses of the song describe his memories and feelings. The English-language lyrics of the version recorded by A Taste of Honey are not a translation of the original Japanese lyrics but a completely different set of lyrics set to the same basic melody.

The title Sukiyaki, a Japanese hot pot dish, has nothing to do with the lyrics or the meaning of the song; the word served the purpose only because it was short, catchy, recognizably Japanese, and more familiar to most English speakers. A Newsweek columnist noted that the re-titling was like issuing "Moon River" in Japan under the title "Beef Stew."

About the song:

"Ue o Muite Arukō" (上を向いて歩こう?, literally "[I] shall walk looking up") is a Japanese-language song that was performed by Japanese crooner Kyu Sakamoto, and written by lyricist Rokusuke Ei and composer Hachidai Nakamura. It is best known under the alternative title "Sukiyaki" in English-speaking parts of the world. The song reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100 charts in the United States in 1963, and was the only Japanese-language song to do so. In total it sold over 13 million copies internationally. The original Kyu Sakamoto recording also went to number eighteen on the R&B chart.[3] In addition, the single spent five weeks at number one on the Middle of the Road charts. The recording was originally released in Japan by Toshiba in 1961. It topped the Popular Music Selling Record chart in the Japanese magazine Music Life for three months, and was ranked as the number one song of 1961 in Japan.
Well-known English-language cover versions include a 1981 cover under the title "Sukiyaki" by A Taste of Honey and a 1995 cover by 4 P.M.. There is also an English language version with altogether different lyrics by Jewel Akens under the title "My First Lonely Night" recorded in 1966. There are many other language versions of the song as well.

About Kyu Sakamoto:

Kyu Sakamoto (坂本九 Sakamoto Kyū?, born Hisashi Oshima (大島九 Ōshima Hisashi?), 10 December 1941 -- 12 August 1985) was a Japanese singer and actor, best known outside of Japan for his international hit song "Sukiyaki", which was sung in Japanese and sold over 13 million copies. It reached number one in the United States Billboard Hot 100 in June 1963.

Lyrics:

Did I really just forget that melody?
Naw, na, na, banananananana
Alright, dada dadadada

When I popped off, then your girl gave me just a little bit of lockjaw
Baby so cold, he from the north, he from the Canada
Bankroll so low, I got nothing else that I can withdraw
Ran out the door
I shine my wrist, it go like shashasha, shashasha
I got your bitch singing like lalala, lalala
I shine my wrist, it go like shashasha, shashasha
I got your bitch singing like lalala, lalala
How I stride like that

Amex, no cap, eight hundred score
They wonder how, how I guap like that
I rap my lyrics when I perform
They wonder how, how I stride like that
Married to the grind, I brought my ring
I'm corny, but your girly want the dick
Modest with my jewels, but check the bank
Finally got the money, say my thanks

When I popped off, then your girl gave me just a little bit of lockjaw
Baby so cold, he from the north, he from the Canada
Bankroll so low, I got nothing else that I can withdraw
Ran out the door
I shine my wrist, it go like shashasha, shashasha
I got your bitch singing like lalala, lalala
I shine my wrist, it go like shashasha, shashasha
I got your bitch singing like lalala, lalala
How I stride like that

Haha, I'm at the bank again
They wonder how, how I guap like that
Pink whip with flames all on the side
They wonder how, how I stride like that
Got that Gucci on my body, now she tryna pipe me, woo
Popped a Lucy Loosey Goosey, sussy boy, I keep you cool
Got the paper, went to school
Be careful who you callin' a fool
Ayy, ha, ayy

When I popped off, then your girl gave me just a little bit of lockjaw
Baby so cold, he from the north, he from the Canada
Bankroll so low, I got nothing else that I can withdraw
Ran out the door
I shine my wrist, it go like shashasha, shashasha
I got your bitch singing like lalala, lalala
I shine my wrist, it go like shashasha, shashasha
I got your bitch singing like lalala, lalala
How I stride like that
