Fado is the most well known popular folkloric music of the Portuguese peoples. Full to the brim with emotion, fado is a cultural representation of Portugal's sentiment, and how the country prides itself on its melancholy.

Fado music is Portugal's musical pride. The musical genre, which hides the history of Lisbon and Coimbra, is the most recognised music of Portugal and is considered a national treasure.

In Porto, they all have good artists and good conditions to listen to Fado.

Canto do Camões is a traditional fado restaurant, with daily live fado shows starting at 8.30pm. Lights are dimmed while the fadista accompanied by one or two Portuguese guitarists perform.

On June 27th, I went to New York City right after the Pride Parade, and I asked random people to sing--all day for about 10 hours. I do this just to give people a chance to express themselves musically and hopefully feel happier and more free as a result. Just when I was about to leave for the night, after having dozens of people sing with me, I met the woman in this video. I don't know her name (I never asked her). But I'm glad her sister brought her to me to sing with me. See, this woman was able to sing a song that really connected with the people around us, and she gave us all a great experience listening to her sing "Dangerously In Love" (originally sung by Destiny's Child, of which Beyonce Knowles was the lead singer). I'm glad I met her and I'm glad that we were able to make an impact on other people together.
