Because if we allow our fatalism or our negativity to really take over, we will crumble. It’s about a city, in my case, Los Angeles, but it could be anywhere where bad stuff is happening. After the George Floyd murder, which is one of few things in my life that I wish I’d never seen: I was changed entirely by seeing the footage of that cop kneeling on George Floyd’s neck. In Los Angeles there were huge protests and a lot of upheaval after that. Above our house in Hollywood, there were helicopters all day long, for days on end. "I Got You (I Feel Good)" is a song by American singer James Brown. Recorded and released as a single in 1965, it was his highest charting song and is arguably his best-known recording.

This is the second performance of James Brown and his band, that he did during the North Sea Jazz Festival on 11 July 1981, held in the Congress center in The Hague.

This second concert is extraordinary and sees a James Brown that really gives everything to get the audience to their feet. The first concert that we published on 5 October 2017 which was recorded by AVRO Television earlier that 11th July 1981 saw a lame audience that did not know how to react. In this fantastic video we see what James Brown could do with any audience. Also this concert has a different tracklisting including a sensational 'It's A Man's World' (also on our channel) in which he pays tribute to great artists who died such as Otis Redding, Sam Cooke, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix and especially to John Lennon, who died some 6 months earlier.

James Joseph Brown (May 3, 1933 – December 25, 2006) was an American singer, dancer, musician, record producer, and bandleader. The central progenitor of funk music and a major figure of 20th century music, he is often referred to by the honorific nicknames "Godfather of Soul", "Mr. Dynamite", and "Soul Brother No. 1". In a career that lasted over 50 years, he influenced the development of several music genres. Brown was one of the first 10 inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame at its inaugural induction in New York on January 23, 1986.

Brown began his career as a gospel singer in Toccoa, Georgia. He came to national public attention in the mid-1950s as the lead singer of the Famous Flames, a rhythm and blues vocal group founded by Bobby Byrd. With the hit ballads "Please, Please, Please" and "Try Me", Brown built a reputation as a dynamic live performer with the Famous Flames and his backing band, sometimes known as the James Brown Band or the James Brown Orchestra. When used correctly, it adds an exclamation point to just the right note; rest assured, Illuminati Hotties punctuates this Tiny Desk with a burst of color… and, yes, an actual confetti cannon.

Illuminati Hotties’ punky indie-rock songs are silly, sophisticated and scrappy — Sarah Tudzin affectionately calls this music “tenderpunk.” There’s always a catchy hook underpinned by a sweetly devastating lyric, or a clever turn of phrase subverted by some stank-faced skronk. Tudzin, who leads Illuminati Hotties, elevates the band’s sound design through her job as a recording engineer and producer. If you’ve listened to recent albums by Speedy Ortiz, Weyes Blood and boygenius and wondered how they sound so good, Tudzin is part of the reason why.

Tudzin and her band hop, skip and jump through the Illuminati Hotties catalog, rearranging her songs along the way. “Pool Hopping” features a 10-second ska riff. Free I.H. mixtape favorite “freequent letdown” gets a little twang singalong. POWER’s “Didn't,” originally a Weezer-indebted rocker, becomes a banjo-led hoedown. It all speaks to the malleability of Tudzin’s songwriting. “We’re here to share joy. We’re here to inspire resistance,” Tudzin says in a mission statement before the satirical and sneering “MMMOOOAAAAAYAYA,” which gets a pointed last-minute lyric change of its own. “That’s the least we can do with our art.”
