Tyla - To Last (Live) | Vevo DSCVR Hotney 7 Görünümler • 3 yıl önce

Tyla - To Last (Live). An exclusive performance for Vevo DSCVR, the channel for the best in new music.

There’s a new genre coming out of South Africa, and Tyla is one of its most promising young talents. “Amapiano, it’s the sound right now,” she explained to us after gliding through her DSCVR performances, where she put the emerging blend of house, R&B, and African dance genres such as Kwaito in the spotlight. In Zulu dialects, Amapiano means “the pianos,” a reference to the lounge keys usually weaved into its dembow and four-to-the-floor rhythms. Tyla herself is a master of taking its glossiest elements and imbuing them with the sensuality of American R&B. “Getting Late,” her breakout debut, was all about making the most of a night’s final hours. Considering she designs her songs in the shower, it makes sense that a certain steaminess and nonchalance runs through recent bops “Been Thinking” and “Girl Next Door.” But like a rose garden, there’s thorns nestled between those Tyla’s delicate sonic petals and romantic aromas. “My first love was not my first heartbreak,” the Aaliyah and Rihanna disciple whispers in “To Last,” which she performed for us on DSCVR. Ouch. Clearly, she’s learned how to pack punches from her pop-R&B heroes. “Water” is a particularly fetching track. “It’s kind of a naughty song,” she confessed, before adding, “It’s a summer song.” What else is there to say: dive in, but don’t expect to cool off.

An icon of 20th and 21st century music, the voice of the civil rights movement, and the undisputed Queen of Soul—there is only one Aretha Franklin. In her incredible six-decade career, Aretha evolved from teenage gospel star to reigning pop and R&B diva, recording classics like “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman,” “Chain Of Fools”, “Think” (lyrics by Aretha Franklin), definitive versions of the songs “Respect” and “I Say a Little Prayer”, and global hits like “Freeway Of Love,” “I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me)”, and “A Rose Is Still A Rose.”

Altogether, 112 of her singles reached the charts, with 20 No. 1 R&B singles, the most ever by a female artist. She won 18 Grammy Awards (including the first eight trophies for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance) and, out of recognition for her for indelible contribution to American music and culture, received both the Presidential Medal Of Freedom and a Pulitzer Prize.

Lyrics:

Don’t ever say it’s over if I’m breathing
Racing to the moonlight and I’m speeding
I’m headed to the stars, ready to go far
I’m star walkin’
Don’t ever say it’s over if I’m breathing
Racing to the moonlight and I’m speeding
I’m headed to the stars, ready to go far
I’m star walkin’

On a mission to get high up I know that Imma die reachin for a life that I don’t really need at all
Never listened to replies learned a lesson from the wise you should never take advice from somebody
That ain’t try
They said I wouldn't make it out alive
They told me I would never see the rise
That’s why I gotta get ‘em every time
Gotta watch ‘em bleed too

Don’t ever say it’s over if I’m breathing
Racing to the moonlight and I’m speeding
I’m headed to the stars, ready to go far
I’m star walkin’
Don’t ever say it’s over if I’m breathing
Racing to the moonlight and I’m speeding
I’m headed to the stars, ready to go far
I’m star walkin’

Been that ha since I came out my mama
Thanking g-d daddy never wore a
Prove ‘em wrong every time til it’s normal
Why worship legends when you know that you can join ‘em
These demons don’t like me, they don’t like me
Likely, they wanna fight me
Come on try it out, try me
They put me down but I never cried out
Why me, words from the wise
Don’t put worth inside somebody

That ain’t try
They said I wouldn't make it out alive
They told me I would never see the rise
That’s why I gotta get ‘em every time
Gotta watch ‘em bleed too

Don’t ever say it’s over if I’m breathing
Racing to the moonlight and I’m speeding
I’m headed to the stars, ready to go far
I’m star walkin’
Don’t ever say it’s over if I’m breathing
Racing to the moonlight and I’m speeding
I’m headed to the stars, ready to go far
I’m star walkin’

star walkin’

Don’t ever say it’s over if I’m breathing
Racing to the moonlight and I’m speeding
I’m headed to the stars, ready to go far
I’m star walkin’

Rust In Peace - The Megadeth Story ┃ Documentary Hotney 7 Görünümler • 4 yıl önce

Dave Mustaine was born in La Mesa, California in 1961. He was brought into a family that already had 3 sisters, but a failing marriage between his parents. During 1983 and 1984, Dave Mustaine and David Ellefson would spend months looking for a drummer and second guitar player as Greg had left the band. Megadeth had already started to play shows in the San Francisco Bay Area and Kerry King from Slayer even joined the band for a brief time, but soon returned to Slayer.

More on Megadeth:
On April 11, 1983, Dave Mustaine was officially fired from Metallica. He said he was given “No warning” and “No second chance”.

On the bus journey back home to Los Angeles, Dave Mustaine vowed that one day he would take revenge against Metallica. He vowed to start his own band, faster and heavier than anything anyone had ever heard before.

Angry and filled with fury, Mustaine was out for blood. And he would change the course of Metal music forever with his band, Megadeth. And this is their story.
