In this week's episode of Rap Life Review, Ebro, Lowkey, and Eddie shoutout Art Official Intelligence Radio with De La Soul on Apple Music, react to the announcement of the Dreamville Festival's lineup, and talk through the week's new music.

The group has a heated discussion about what a potential Drake and Lil Wayne collaboration album could sound like. Would we see a different side of Drake? They also ask the question, are heavily marketed artists bordering the line of being industry plants? Are industry plants even real?

The conversation concludes by highlighting the career of Cardi B and her return to her freestyling roots. She also teased a snippet of her next track, which ultimately came with social media speculation amidst continued conversation around when to expect the release of her sop****re album.

LYRICS
I've known faces that have disappeared in time
Find me wrapped in glass and slowly soaked in lime
All my friends have pictures made to make you cry
I've seen this and wondered what I've done to calcify

(I ignore you)
As I close my eyes I feel it all slipping away
(I come toward you)
We all got left behind, we let it all slip away

I can't stand to see your thalidomide robot face
I don't even try it! You had to be a liar
Just to infiltrate me - I'm still drowing

(I ignore you)
As I close my eyes, i feel it all slipping away
(I come toward you)
We all got left behind, we let it all slip away

...Take...this...away...
I can feel it on my mouth
I can taste you on my fingers
I can hear you like the holy ghost
And kill you if you get to close

FULL DISCLOSURE Lyrics

I've been around for too long
Not to know right from wrong
I've been selling myself out for fame on a song

I ain't like them no
I’ve been biting my tongue
But I know what you’ve done

(So I’m done)

Sick of the bullshit they’re feeding me

Not knowing your friends from your enemies
Leading the blind
Blurring the lines of humanity
So you got something to say
Say it to my fucking face
I’m calling you out
Outta the crowd
You can meet me backstage

Full Disclosure
I thought I told ya
I ain't like them other motherfuckers
I’m a warrior

Full disclosure
The joke’s over
You might not know
So I’m giving you Full Disclosure

Now I’m losing my youth
Redefining the truth
Now I'm more than just one
I’m a father, a son
I’m just like you
I’m just trying to find what I’m leaving behind

(Now I know)
Everything’s not what it seems
In this American dream
But I can tell you that it’s worth it just to hear ‘em scream
Someday you’ll know what I mean
Living the lessons you’re learning from me
But I can tell you boy, nothing in this life is free

Sick of the poison they’re feeding me
Not knowing your friends from your enemies
Trying to murder my legacy

Head blowing up like a Kennedy

So you got something to say
Say it to my fucking face

Lyrics:

I wish I could tell you
Wish I could describe it
But I can't contain it
Can't keep it to myself

There aren't enough colors
To paint the whole picture
Not enough words
To ever say what I found

Wonderful and beautiful
And glorious and holy
He is merciful and powerful
Who we talkin' about?
That's my King

We declare the glory
Give Him all the honor
Altogether worthy
Who we talkin' about?
That's my King
There's no one before You
Yes, we will adore You
All of this is for You
Who we talkin' about?
That's my King

I'm not letting the rocks cry
Without joining the chorus
There aren't enough notes
To make the harmony

It's the song of the angels (angels)
Through all of the ages (ages)
It's all of the earth
And heaven's symphony

Wonderful and beautiful
And glorious and holy
He is merciful and powerful
Who we talkin' about?
That's my King

We declare the glory
Give Him all the honor
Altogether worthy
Who we talkin' about?
That's my King
There's no one before You
Yes, we will adore You
All of this is for You
Who we talkin' about?
That's my King
That’s my King
Is He your King tonight

That's my King
That's my God
That's my Shepherd
My protector
That's my King
That's my Rock
That's my Anchor
My Defender

That's my King
That's my God
That's my Shepherd
My protector
That's my King
That's my Rock
That's my Anchor
My Defender

Who we talkin' about?
That's my King

We declare the glory
Give Him all the honor
Altogether worthy
Who we talkin' about?
That's my King
We declare the glory
Give Him all the honor
Altogether worthy
Who we talkin' about?
That's my King

There's no one before You
Yes, we will adore You
All of this is for You
Who we talkin' about?
That's my King

Who we talkin' about?
That's my King
Who we talkin' about?
That's my King
Who we talkin' about?
That's my King
Who we talkin' about?
That's my King
Who we talkin' about?
(King of Kings)
That's my King
Who we talkin' about?
(King forever)
That's my King
Who we talkin' about?
That's my King
Who we talkin' about?
That's my King

This Black Music Month, Tiny Desk is giving the ladies their flowers. We’re releasing nine Tiny Desk concerts from Black women artists, from veterans who’ve paved the way for what we hear today in Black music, to those who are carving out their own paths.

Nikki Birch | June 18, 2024
Experiencing all of the Tiny Desks this Black Music Month has made many of my dreams come true, and Meshell Ndegeocello’s performance was no exception. For 30 years the Grammy-winning artist’s music has cast an unflinching gaze on love, race, sexuality and religion. Her new album out in August, No More Water: The Gospel of James Baldwin, zooms out to focus on the love of humanity as inspired by the writer and civil rights activist.

Her performance includes three songs from that album, starting with “Travel,” which features Kenita Miller’s swirling whispers alongside Jake Sherman’s organ and Ndegeocello’s bass, which ushers us into her church service. “Thus Sayeth The Lorde,” references the writings of Audre Lorde: “If I did not define myself for myself, I’d be crunched into other people’s fantasies for me and eaten alive.” This conviction has been the binding agent of Ndegeocello’s career. Releasing her debut album at a time when many of the women who dominated Black music were singers who adopted an ultra-feminine aesthetic, as a bassist and vocalist she gallantly eschewed that standard for androgyny, fully embracing her ****, two-spirit identity.

“Love” continues this theme, urging you to allow love to take over and accept yourself in the face of existential crisis. The final songs of Ndegeocello’s Tiny Desk Concert are fan favorites. First, we’re sent off into space with the playful “Virgo,” from Ndegeocello’s album The Omnichord Real Book. Then she brings us back to Earth with the yearning “Outside Your Door.”

Common Goes OFF Jennifer Hudson After She Turns Down His Proposal

There is trouble in paradise between Common and Jennifer Hudson, and it looks like there might be a breakup announcement on the horizon between these two.

Y’all know how Common and Jennifer have been all lovey-dovey for the past year or so? Well, things took a different turn when Common popped the big question, and Jennifer said no.

Well, Common didn’t take this well, and he flipped out on Jennifer, accusing her of using him and wasting his time. Chile, it looks like the player got played, and Common is NOT taking the rejection well.
