"Losing My Mind" by Falling In Reverse

Lyrics

I’ve got the motherfucking world in my palm now
Don’t tell me to calm down
Strikin’ a match, ignitin’ the track, while I’m typin’ in caps, it’s on now
The rap Casanova with cash in a sofa in the back of a Rover
Six pack in a backpack, and I’m crackin’ ‘em open, sippin’ I’m trapped in a moment
Open your eyes
Cause you’re never gonna know if your next move might be your last
Living a lie
Everybody’s always gonna bring up my past
Well I’m past that, my interest up and my bag’s packed
I’m the NASDAQ with a bad rap so

I’m not ready to change
I’m doing my thing
You’re pointing the blame
You know I’m not ready to choose
So don’t get confused and stay the hell out of my way
So why do you believe
You’re losing your mind, losing your mind again
In everyone but me?
I’m losing my mind, losing my mind again

I’ve seen the hardships, lived in darkness, through the mud into the marshes
My reputation is tarnished but regardless I am awesome
Saw the gossip from my lockup go colossal then I blossomed to the boss of this rock stuff
And I’m never gonna stop till the cops come
What I’m really trying to say
Is say it to my face and if you won’t then stay the fuck out my way
Rocking shows, lock and load, stop me no, I’m reppin’ the new shit
The essence of music I’m blessed with the fusion of both

I’m not ready to change
I’m doing my thing
You’re pointing the blame
You know I’m not ready to choose
So don’t get confused and stay the hell out of my way
So why do you believe
You’re losing your mind, losing your mind again
In everyone but me?
I’m losing my mind, losing my mind again

Ever since I was a little boy I always thought that the world was going to end in my lifetime
So I tried to seize every opportunity as it came to me
Because I believed it might stop the sky from falling down one more day
But the older I got the more I realized that I cannot save the world
I’m not a superhero, I’m not perfect, I’m just me, a human being

So let’s take take take the throne and break the cycle
So why do you believe in everyone but me?
Every single day we kill our idols
But you won’t break me down
You’re losing your mind, losing your mind again
You’re losing your mind, losing your mind again
We’re losing our minds, losing our minds

That’s on my baby
They block like a drive thru
Ask the opps How much we slide through
Ain’t beefing but you they family you get caught then
You gone die to
Hold on hold on hold on hold on hold on
Stop the whip
Let me out this chopstick
Gone leave em open like a zip
Zip em up
Tell buddy nem ass to come & pick em up
Niggas faking acting like they thug life
till we hit em up
A lotta niggas don’t like me
For what I ain’t een did shit
Make his bitch take dick to the head
I ain’t een hit yet
How you mad she choosing me
I like what she do to me
She say she feel safer over here this where the shooters be
She say ain’t no pape up over
Shit she barely eaten
Can barely feed hisself
She told me help
This Nigga barely feed me

How you mad she choosing me
You would die if you know what she was doin to me
We been swappin spit for a lil while this shit ain’t new to me
Actin like I’m chasing her or som’n, she be pursuin me
Can’t hold you she be telling me all the time she wish that you was me
I ain’t with that messy shit
I barely a text a bitch
I can’t even brag about these thots, that shit be effortless
Red and white Ferrari I come thru fresh as a peppermint
Ain’t caught up in that other shit, they trippin I’m black excellence
Hold up, hold up, hold up, hold up, hold up
Hold the jet
750 for a show – I gotta go, can’t miss this check
Travel all around the globe doin what I want with no regrets
She feel safe with us, whenever she with gang it make her wet

We don’t do social tweak
These niggas to Internet
Going live tryna talk bout who got shot
We dont get into that
Can you leave it up in the streets for me
I ain’t tryna go to jail
Keep Mention my name in all on yo post
It ain’t hard to tell
If you get smoked they gone come looking for me
Niggas you dumb as hell
This bitch think I love her oweee
She must be drunk as hell
I can’t love no slut bitch
I love how they suck dick
Once I get my nut off bitch I’m skating like some truckfit

Tower of Power: NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert Hotney 6 Streams • 4 years ago

Aug. 13, 2018 | Felix Contreras -- When the 10 members of Tower of Power were in place behind Bob Boilen's desk, strategically positioned around the band's famous five-piece horn section, their first collective blast three beats into the sound check literally made the video crew jump. It was more a force of nature than a sound, and an impressive display of the "five fingers operating as one hand" concept of band cohesiveness.

From the group's beginning in Oakland in 1968, its soul disciples stood out from the peace-and-love scene in the San Francisco Bay. Their dedication to the horn-driven soul heard on recordings from the Stax and Atlantic record labels evolved to such a sophisticated level as to make the Tower of Power Horns an entity unto themselves. Eventually artists as diverse as Santana, the Grateful Dead and even Elton John enlisted them to give their music an authentic connection to the scene.

I have to confess that this show was mostly a labor of self-indulgent love, since I've been a fan since about 1972. So it was a joy to listen to the unmistakable sounds of my youth as the band delivered both "What Is Hip" and "So Very Hard to Go" with so much vitality, it sounded as if they were just written last week. During the performance of the title track from their new album, "The Soul Side of Town," the playing, the passion and the precision remains unchanged after all the years.

1968 was one hell of a year musically, as we've seen from this year's many anniversary celebrations of albums, events and bands. Add Tower of Power to that shortlist of artists for whom that moment was an early rehearsal for what would become a five decade career. A band this big will inevitably have some members come and go, but it's important to note that the original songwriting nucleus of bari saxophonist Stephen "Funky Doctor" Kupa and bandleader/tenor saxophonist Emilio Castillo continue to write and perform, as does original drummer David Garibaldi.

I want to write that the band has become an institution. But that conjures images of stuffy old men looking down professorially on youthful funksters, occasionally showing them how it was done in a long-lost golden era. Instead, Tower of Power remains as vital and full of life-affirming funk and soul, if not more, as they were in 1968. The band's dedication, hard work and connection to us long-time fans prove that a good idea is timeless. If you need proof, just watch this video.

Congrats, fellas. It's been a very soulful 50 years.

Yeah yeah yeah, yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah, yeah yeah yeah Get your eardrum de-virginzed by the…
Eardrums de-virginized from the words of mine
Just a word of advice you can’t murder Nas
All my n*ggas certified, we got certain ties
Streets was the office we didn’t need a shirt and tie
M-I-A-M-I weather like the Virgin Isles
I ain’t got no jewelry on ‘cuz I’m made of ice
Element surprised, move with the Passion of Christ

To Portofino sittin’ high on the cliff
From a younger dude with a crew we was working the shift Y’all South Park cartoon characters I’m convinced
They never been scared to death while stayin’ calm in a twist I creeped in a jean jacket, headband, and Nikes
I ain’t like to dodge fights, as I rode my bike
And I was lookin’ at these people thinkin’ they just might
Make me come out my cool character, break through the smooth barriers Go Crazy, Cee-Lo Green, Gnarls Barkley
Before I even pulled to the spot, they tried to park me
I’m used to dark scene’s that’s why I spark green
Why I pour wine, they don’t stock these, I gotta order mine Malcolm X departed at The Audubon
Seen so many slaughtered I’m numb never mortified
All black Audemars, you claim yours was 1-of-1
We timepiece monsters, every season we be on the hunt
Jeepers creepers, America’s a baby that’s teething
Sh*tting on his-self, crying for its next feeding
As odd as it gets, it’s not even a toddler yet
Gang members got nothing on these congressmen
Plus, Ray Liotta and James Caan died
Iconic actors who were redemption for these mob guys
We easin’ on down the road for the third win
Who’s Bad, it’s up and it’s stuck, feel the whirlwind
Like young Quincy Jones stuck outside the club ‘til Ray Charles snuck him in Aah to be young again
But right now it’s like I got the power of a hundred men
Nas and Hit like Michael and Quincy on a run again

Eardrums de-virginized from the words of mine
Just a word of advice you can’t murder Nas
All my n*ggas certified, we got certain ties

I’m activated, my hair might spark flames
Aviator frames, bandages, laminates for stage
From a stretcher I wave
Even if I never had two arms full of Grammys
Or a sponsor from Pepsi, I’d still be honorary
Like Quincy on a trumpet, Hit-Boy on a drum kit
Nasty like Mike on the vocals, I overdub it
Bouncin’ Off the Wall, always Startin’ Somethin’
Behind the scenes of the Thriller video, big budgets
Moonwalkin’ Smooth Criminal talkin’
I’m changing colors right now ‘til I’m dark skinned
Adam Clayton Powell’s complexion to Baldwins
Annie are you OK? Watching me transforming
Pinky ring glitter like the socks and the glove
Know some money gettin’ thugs that can buy the Beatles pub That’s what I really call coppin’ white, re’in up, haha

Stormzy Revisits His Most Iconic Performances So Far | Behind The Curtain Hotney 6 Streams • 4 years ago

British Vogue invited Stormzy to chat with his stylist Melissa Holdbrook-Akposoe (Melissa’s Wardrobe) and review his most iconic performances so far: from Stormzy’s breakout track ‘Shut Up’ and the headline-making 2018 Brit Awards performance, to his recent hit ‘Mel Made Me Do It’ — a tribute to his long-term friend & stylist.

The pair discuss the outfits that he’s worn during his rise to fame, alongside Stormzy’s newfound appreciation for fashion. “It’s sick to see that as much as I’ve grown, there are still things that are exactly the same,” Stormzy says as he reflects back. “I started in a black tracksuit with all the mandem, but we’ve ended in a hot-pink suit with the mandem… The same people that were there from the beginning”. Watch the full episode of Behind The Curtain with Stormzy and Melissa Holdbrook-Akposoe, as they delve into 11 tentpole moments in Stormzy’s career so far.
