#wesborland #nineinchnails #limpbizkit

I cite my sources and they may differ than other people's accounts, so I don't guarantee the actual accuracy of my videos.

By 2001 Limp Bizkit were one of the biggest rock bands on the planet. Their first three albums all went platinum with their most two recent records at the time selling 6-7 million copies a piece. Despite riding high on commercial success, it was in 2001 guitarist Wes Borland left the group telling MTV at the time.

‘I could have probably gone on and still played the part of the guitar player of Limp Bizkit, but musically I was kind of bored. If I was to continue, it would have been about the money and not about the true music, and I don't want to lie to myself, or to them or to fans of Limp Bizkit,"

Borland would admit in the same interview that his bandmates soon felt more like business associates or co-workers making his gig in limp bizkit feel more like a job. Then years later in 2015, during an interview with Stereogum, Borland revealed how a tragedy was part of his decision to leave adding "We played the Big Day Out Festival and had a girl die during our set, which was devastating to me and I still haven't really ever gotten over that, but I was like, 'That's enough. I'm done. I don't like all the attention that we're getting. I don't like that we're on 'TRL.' This is not what I thought being in a rock band would be like.'"

Borland would reveal in 2020 on the let there be talk podcast, that timing of him quitting the band couldn’t have been worse. After 9/11, the stock market plunged resulting in him virtually losing all of his money, over a million dollars Despite the financial setback it wasn’t enough to make him reconsider, despite assurances from management, that he’d make millions if he stayed in the band.

Borland would form a new group with his brother called Eat the Day, but the project proved to be unfruitful as the duo couldn’t find a suitable vocalist. Meanwhile, his old bandmates in Limp Bizkit teamed up with Guitar Center to launch a 22 city tour through the US to find a replacement for Borland. Dubbed the “Put Your Guitar Where Your Mouth Is” contest, the band invited anyone who thought they were good enough to audition for the band.

Well, the whole thing was a disaster with many claiming the search was a publicity stunt and soon enough stories circulated online about what was really happening at the auditions. Contestants who partook in the auditions would claim the tryouts had strict rules and conditions including

No guitar solos were to be performed
No cover songs were allowed to be performed including no playing limp bizkit songs so you’re basically playing something you came up with, which didn’t sit well with a lot of people.
Any guitar riffs or ideas the contestants came up with could be used by limp bizkit and the band would not be required to pay compensation and anything they play basically becomes the property of limp bizkit.
The agreement also stated that these contestants images could be used in a forthcoming documentary without compensation.
At the end of the day Limp bizkit wouldn’t hire anyone from the auditions at guitar center, instead enlisting ex- snot guitar mike mike smith to play on their next album , 2003’s results may vary the album. While the album went platinum it sold only 15 percent of the copies of it’s predecessor. If you guys are interested in learning more about the contest, i’ve done a whole video on it, and i even interviewed someone who attended two of the guitar center rehearsals. The link is down below.
Despite being out of Limp Bizkit for several years, Borland would claim in several interviews that being connected to Fred Durst and company hampered his employment opportunities when it came to playing with high profile musicians including Marilyn Manson and Nine Inch Nails. Borland offered his insights into why the Limp Bizkit brand was so toxic telling NME It was too much in people’s faces for too long. I think Fred’s romance with celebrity was really toxic and he realises that now. But you know, when you’re in your 20s and all this shit’s happening, you’re like ‘Yeah, I’m going to do that!’. When everything’s as crazy as it was for us and blowing up, we were fucking kids and we acted like kids. Then this arrested development happens where you stop maturing into an adult and become this complete bozo. And yea

the time Steven Adler of Guns N' Roses fame was kidnsapped by his own brother.

I cite my sources and they may differ than other people's accounts, so I don't guarantee the actual accuracy of my videos.

Guns N’ Roses original drummer Steven adler would be with the group from it’s inception in 1985 until 1990, when he was fired. Adler would play on the group’s landmark record Appetite for Destruction and their follow up ep gn’r lies, but it was during the recording of their double album use your illusion 1 and 2 he was fired from the group due to his drug use that hampered the recording of the album. But 20 years after appetite for destruction came out, Adler would be kidnapped by his own brother. Let’s explore what happened in today’s video
It was shortly after his firing from Guns N’ Roses, Adler sued his former bandmates alleging they made him sign away his rights to any royalties from his time in the band. In 1993 the suit would be settled out of court. In the subsequent years he would be involved a bit in music, at one time claiming he auditioned for AC/DC and started a band called The Road Crew, in addition to playing a brief stint with the band bullet boys. The 2 decades following his firing saw Adler involved heavily with drugs and have numerous run ins with the law. In 1996, Adler would suffer a stroke from his drug use that would forever impact his speech
By 2007 things hadn’t improved in his life and he was on death’s doorstep. It would be his younger brother who would kidnap Steven in a last ditch effort to save his life.
Hailing from Cleavland Ohio, the Adler’s were middle class Jewish Family. Steven’s mother Deanna had two sons from two different fathers Deanna would eventually relocate to Los Angeles where she met another ohio native Melvin Adler who adopted both of her sons who were now 10 and 7, one was named Kenny and the other Michael. Michael would eventually be renamed Steven. Then three years later Deanna gave birth to her third son Jamie. Jamie would tell Yahoo entertainment My father was a real street guy, he lived this crazy life,” “He would always tell me stories about Cleveland. … His friends being blown up in cars or murdered. I was like, ‘No way this is all true.’” In 2011 hollywood would put out a film kill the irishman that contained many of the same tales Jamie heard from his dad as a kid.
His Dad’s job weren’t that wholesome either as he worked for Southern pacific railroad before becoming a bookie, where he employed Jamie to answer phones for him. Despite coming from a big family, Jamie admitted to feeling lonely since he was considerably younger than his brothers and Steven was rarely around getting into so much trouble, that he was eventually exiled to his grandparents house in hollywood. Jamie would tell Yahoo
“He was always this wild, crazy guy,”. “Never believed in rules. … He’d just stay out all hours of the night, partying and getting wasted. But my brother in my eyes could do no wrong. Whenever I saw him, he would give me the biggest hug.”
By 1985 Steven Adler became the drummer for Guns N’ Roses who by 1986 bagged a multi-album deal with Geffen Records. The following year they’d release their debut record Appetite for Destruction whose title perfectly encapsulated Steven’s personality. Jamie would reveal to Yahoo that by the end of 1987 he first learned of his brother’s drug addiction. Doug Goldstein who worked as part of Guns N’ Roses management told Steven’s parents about the dangerous behavior and assured his parents Steven was going to rehab in Arizona for a full month.
But by the time Steven’s parents planned on visiting him in arizona at the treatment center, he left after only three days.
By the time Appetite for Destruction blew up the sales charts in 1988 Steven had shut out most of his family from his life with with Jamie telling yahoo “He basically never left the house for the next two years,”. “Steven didn’t talk to us. He disowned us because he was in this downward spiral.” It was over the next several years Steven would reconcile with his family only for it to fall apart. Then in August of 1990 Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose would announce to the world that Steven Adler was fired from Guns n’ Roses during an interview on MTV with Kurt Loder.
It was by the mid 90’s and subsequent decade that JAMI

Song lyrics:

YOU CAN'T TOUCH THIS
YOU CAN'T TOUCH THIS
YOU CAN'T TOUCH THIS
YOU CAN'T TOUCH THIS

MY, MY, MY, MY MUSIC
HITS ME SO HARD
MAKES ME SAY
OH, MY LORD

THANK YOU
FOR BLESSIN' ME
WITH A MIND TO RHYME
AND TWO HYPE FEET
IT FEELS GOOD

WHEN YOU KNOW YOU'RE DOWN
A SUPER DOPE HOMEBOY
FROM THE OAKTOWN
AND I'M KNOWN AS SUCH
AND THIS IS A BEAT
UH, YOU CAN'T TOUCH

I TOLD YOU, HOMEBOY
YOU CAN'T TOUCH THIS
YEAH, THAT'S HOW WE LIVIN'
AND YOU KNOW
YOU CAN'T TOUCH THIS

LOOK IN MY EYES, MAN
YOU CAN'T TOUCH THIS
YO, LET ME BUST
THE FUNKY LYRICS

FRESH NEW KICKS, ADVANCE
YOU GOTTA LIKE THAT
NOW YOU KNOW
YOU WANNA DANCE

SO, MOVE
OUTTA YOUR SEAT
AND GET A FLY GIRL
AND CATCH THIS BEAT
WHILE IT'S ROLLIN'

HOLD ON
PUMP A LITTLE BIT AND
LET 'EM KNOW IT'S GOIN' ON
LIKE THAT, LIKE THAT

COLD ON A MISSION
SO, FALL THEM BACK
LET 'EM KNOW
THAT YOU'RE TOO MUCH
AND THIS IS A BEAT, UH
THEY CAN'T TOUCH

YO, I TOLD YOU
YOU CAN'T TOUCH THIS
WHY YOU STANDIN' THERE, MAN
YOU CAN'T TOUCH THIS

YO, SOUND THE BELL
SCHOOL IS IN, SUCKER
YOU CAN'T TOUCH THIS

GIVE ME A SONG
OR RHYTHM
MAKIN' 'EM SWEAT
THAT'S WHAT I'M GIVIN' 'EM NOW
THEY KNOW

YOU TALKIN' 'BOUT THE HAMMER
YOU TALKIN' 'BOUT A SHOW
THAT'S HYPED, AND TIGHT

SINGERS ARE SWEATIN'
SO, PASS THEM A WIPE
OR A TAPE TO LEARN
WHAT'S IT GONNA TAKE
IN THE NINETIES
TO BURN THE CHARTS

LEGIT
EITHER WORK HARD
OR YOU MIGHT AS WELL QUIT

THAT'S WORD
BECAUSE YOU KNOW
YOU CAN'T TOUCH THIS
YOU CAN'T TOUCH THIS
BREAK IT DOWN

STOP, HAMMER TIME
GO WITH THE FLOW, IT IS SAID
IF YOU CAN'T GROOVE TO THIS
THEN YOU PROBABLY ARE DEAD

SO, WAVE YOUR
HANDS IN THE AIR
BUST A FEW MOVES
RUN YOUR FINGERS
THROUGH YOUR HAIR
THIS IS IT

FOR A WINNER
DANCE TO THIS AND
YOU'RE GONNA GET THINNER
MOVE, SLIDE YOUR RUMP

JUST FOR A MINUTE
LET'S ALL DO THE
BUMP, BUMP, BUMP, BUMP
YEAH... YOU CAN'T TOUCH THIS
LOOK, MAN
YOU CAN'T TOUCH THIS

YOU BETTER GET HYPE, BOY
'CAUSE YOU KNOW YOU CAN'T
YOU CAN'T TOUCH THIS
RING THE BELL
SCHOOL'S BACK IN
BREAK IT DOWN

STOP, HAMMER TIME

YOU CAN'T TOUCH THIS
YOU CAN'T TOUCH THIS
YOU CAN'T TOUCH THIS
BREAK IT DOWN

STOP, HAMMER TIME
EVERY TIME YOU SEE ME
THE HAMMER'S JUST SO HYPE
I'M DOPE ON THE FLOOR
AND I'M MAGIC ON THE MIC

NOW WHY WOULD I EVER
STOP DOIN' THIS
WITH OTHERS MAKIN' RECORDS
THAT JUST DON'T HIT

I'VE TOURED AROUND THE WORLD
FROM LONDON TO THE BAY
IT'S HAMMER, GO HAMMER
MC HAMMER, YO HAMMER
AND THE REST CAN GO AND PLAY
YOU CAN'T TOUCH THIS

YOU CAN'T TOUCH THIS
YOU CAN'T TOUCH THIS
YEAH, YOU CAN'T TOUCH THIS
I TOLD YOU
YOU CAN'T TOUCH THIS

TOO HYPE
CAN'T TOUCH THIS
GET ME OUTTA HERE
YOU CAN'T TOUCH THIS

BRATVA// LYRICS

#limpbizkit #freddurst #mtv

I cite my sources and they may differ than other people's accounts, so I don't guarantee the actual accuracy of my videos.

Limp Bizkit were one of the biggest rock bands in 2001. They were all over rock radio and MTV and toured extensively. Limp Bizkit would have the distinct honor of being the last band to shoot on the World Trade Center prior to the attacks on 9/11. That’s what we’re going to discuss in today’s video.

Limp Bizkit’s third album, 2000’sChocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water would be the biggest album of the band’s career moving over 8 million copies in America. One of the single’s released from the record would be the song Rollin. . Whenever it hink of Rollin’ NHL Hitz 2002 always comes to my mind. But for the video for Rollin’ Limp Bizkit would shoot part of the video on the the top of the South Tower of the old World Trade Center in New York City. The shoot would happen in September of 2000, nearly a year before the 9/11 attacks. Here’s Wes Borland and Fred Durst talking to New Musical Express discussing the thinking behind the video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I8ocN4EfEVU (0:20 - 1:16)

The music video would win the award for best rock video at the 2001 MTV Video Music Awards which took place on September 6, 2001. Durst would reveal in an interview that the band received a letter from the World Trade Center on September 10, 2001 congratulating the group on winning the VMA and for thanking the band for featuring the towers in the video. Durst would tell MTV years later I had it framed. I found it very ironic, very bizarre that I received that letter on Monday, and Tuesday the [attacks occurred]. For me to have gotten to go to the top of such a great, powerful structure ... to have those people embrace me and let Limp Bizkit spend 22 hours on top of the World Trade Center doing what we do. ... And for it to be taken down? The structure itself means nothing to me. I don't believe in that structure being a symbol of power, of pride, of America. What means something to me is the people that were killed around and in that building innocently, for no reason except hatred. It overwhelms me. I thank God the night we were on the World Trade Center wasn't the night they decided to do that. [RealVideo]

In 2014 guitarist Wes Borland would end up discussing the filming of the song’s video with FHM revealing “Boy, did the video for Rollin’ backfire. It was filmed on top of the World Trade Center. On 6 September 2001 we won an MTV Video Award [‘Best Rock Video’] for it and the staff at WTC sent over a fruit basket to congratulate us. After 9/11 everyone stopped playing it. Nobody wanted to see it. Neither did we.” While the infamous clear channel memorandum flagged the limp bizkit song Break Stuff on radio it seemed like the ban was likely limited to mtv.” that does it for today’s video guys thanks for watching. Limp Bizkit wasn’t

Born in Fort Worth Texas, drummer Taylor Hawkins was the youngest of three siblings having a mother and father who seemed like polar opposites. According to Rolling Stone he would describe his father as and i quote “stony coldness, typical of a Seventies man,”, while mother was and i quote full of love, sweetness, and tenderness, and the total opposite of my dad.” His mother encouraged Taylor to become a musician.

His family would relocate to Laguna beach when he was 5 years old. Hawkins would tell the BBC that at the age of 10 he had a neighbour who had an old drum kit and a few beat up guitars and by this point in his life he didn’t excel at anything including academics and sports. Hawkins would admit that he initially wanted to play guitar but it seemed like too much work to him and his neighbour encouraged him to try the drums. After observing Hawkins play he would tell him and i quote “you’re a drummer.’

In December of 1995 Grohl would meet hawkins for the first time at the KROQ almost acoustic christmas concert where both foo fighters and alanis morisette were on the bill. Grohl would recall meeting hawkins for the first time saying ‘we got along like brothers from the second we met. We were best friends from that moment with taylor hawkins adding in the book ‘this is a call “i was this little dork playing in this back up band and the first thing that struck me was that dave was really nice and fun to hang out with. I’d met some other people from big bands musicians i’d looked up to and when i met them the vibe was oh you’re not important. Hawkins who was a huge fan of nirvana and foo fighters first record noticed a camaraderie and likeness between himself and grohl as they smoked together and talked about their favourite music. They would reconnect the summer of 1996 when they played some shows together in europe.Hawkins would admit that alanis morissette predicted he would join foo fighters at the time telling the Daily Mirror “We met the Foo Fighters when I was still playing with her, and she said, 'Dave [Grohl]’s gonna ask you to join them someday.' She called it a year before it happened."

The following year in 1997, Grohl was now without a drummer. He would call up hawkins to see if he knew any good drummers. Keep in mind foo fighters were still an up and coming band and were nowhere near as popular as they are today . Grohl would recall that conversation with hawkins “he said ‘f*** yeah i’ll do it. I reminded him we weren’t selling out stadiums like alanis and he said ‘i don’t care man i just want to be in a f***** rock band. To Hawkins alanis was a solo act and he wanted to play more hard rock music. The move surprised Grohl who told entertainment weekly I thought he would never leave Alanis’ band. At the time, they were packing stadiums around the world. And what, he’s going to jump in our red Dodge van and play the f**** Viper Room again?”

The on-boarding process for Hawkins wasn’t smooth though. The first day of rehearsals guitarist Pat Smear announced he was quitting the band telling Grohl and company they should consider being a three piece. The band was in a tough spot having already booked a tour and having their second album to promote.. For Smear he was tired of life on the road and was eldest band member. The band managed to talk smear to stay in the band for another six months until they found a replacement which they did in Grohl’s old scream bandmate Franz Stahl. ’ Taylor’s first show with foo fighters would happen on april 19, 1997 at a secret gig in santa monica at the alligator lounge. The band would spend the next year and a half on the road.

The band would get off the road in 1998 and Grohl gave some insights into where the band’s third record could go in the book this is a call “now i’m looking forward to our next record more than i ever have been. For a while i was thinking. God what are we gonna do for our next record. Taylor plays piano and guitar and writes songs and sings. Nate writes stuff. It’s just gonna be the frea

#thedeftones #aroundthefur

I cite my sources and they may differ than other people's accounts, so I don't guarantee the actual accuracy of my videos.

I’ve covered a few stories on people who appeared on some pretty memorable albums or album covers and the stories behind the shoots and where those subjects are at today. One of my subscribers suggested doing the story on the scantily clad woman on the front cover of the Deftones sop****re record around the fur. And here were are today. So let’s find out the story behind the album cover and who the woman is and what she’s up to today.

Released in 1997 by the alternative metal, act The Deftones their record Around the Fur would be put out on madonna’s label Maverick records. Another act I talked about who was signed to Maverick was candlebox. I’ve done a whole video on their career, the link is down below. Around the Fur would produce two hits in My Own Summer (Shove it) and Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away). The album would go platinum nearly 14 years after its release. Revolver magazine wrote a pretty great piece on the story of the album cover and the website Pousta interviewed the photographer and model who appeared in the photo.

The cover would be shot by photographer Rick Kosick, whose credits included MTV’s jackass and wild boyz. Both The Deftones vocalist Chino Moreno and guitarist Stephen Carpenter were fans of the photographer. Kosick would tell Revolver how he got the gig I know Chino was really into skateboarding at the time, and Steph has always been into BMX," Kosick tells Revolver. "At the time, I was doing a lot of rock shots, too. They thought I was the right guy for the job, so everything fell into place.

Kosick would fly up to seattle to shoot the band in the studio, but he always also invited to a party with the band and some groupies. Kosick would tell revolver"They were having this after-hours party with all these chicks hanging out in the Jacuzzi," he explains. "I just happened to take a photo of a girl at, like, 4 o'clock in the morning. I don't even know who she is—she was just a groupie, I think. I just saw herand was like, Damn, I gotta photograph this. Kosick would only take one shot of the woman with a fish eye lens and it’s his feet you see on the album cover next to her. Kosick would claim the woman on the cover wasn’t happy with the photographer with him recalling to revolver She made some comment about being too close to her boobs. So I took the photo, walked away, and never spoke to her again. I know they found her and got her to sign a release, though." For his work Kosick would get a gold record from the band.

As for the woman her named is Lisa Hughes. She would give her first interview since appearing on the album cover in 2017. During the interview she would claim to be really proud of being on the album cover telling Pousta a little about herself saying and i quote
She would recall how she first heard about the band wanting to use her photo recalling “Well funny thing, I didn’t have a computer at the time and I received a call from Stephen (Carpenter) asking if I would allow them to use the photo for the cover. I wanted to see it first, but had a hard time getting a good copy, so I had Maverick Records fax it to me. It was a little dark and hard to see. But I said yes for sure use it. I didn’t have doubts, I was excited!”

There would be rumors that she was upset that the photographer was invading her space by taking the top down photo but she brushed these assertions off in the same interview.

Since appearing on the album cover Hughes would stay in touch with STephen from the Deftones but in more recent years lost touch with him.

LYRICS
Watching light through water
I want to bend the way it bends
You slice like a knife through the surface
But what a thrill to see it mend
With no scar, no memory
I’m envious
Why pretend I’m not

Wading in up to the ankles
The cold speaks straight to my bones
Whole body and soul hesitation
I am a coward turned to stone
Stay there for centuries
So all of history knows about it

But hey hey
We made it to the longest day
And the sun, the wind the earth
Are wearing me away

The shame!
I wish that I was brave enough to dive in
But I never have been and never will be
I’m coming in hot then freezing completely
The shame!
I wish that I could say what I’ve been thinking
But I never have done and never will do
Still only knees deep
I’ll never be brave like you

Lighten up like a candle
I’m as likely to go out
You can sigh from the bottom of your lungs
Until the house gets blown down
One step, then two, then three
‘Til I’ve forgotten how to count them

But hey hey
We made it to the longest day
And the river’s ready current
Can carry me away

The shame!
I wish that I was brave enough to dive in
But I never have been and never will be
I’m coming in hot then freezing completely
The shame!
I wish that I could say what I’ve been thinking
But I never have done and never will do
Still only knees deep
I’ll never be brave like you

Otherside Lyrics:

[Chorus]
How long, how long will I slide?
Well, separate my side
I don't, I don't believe it's bad
Slittin' my throat, it's all I ever

[Verse 1]
I heard your voice through a photograph
I thought it up it brought up the past
Once you know you can never go back
I gotta take it on the otherside

[Verse 2]
Well, centuries are what it meant to me
A cemetery where I marry the sea
A stranger thing could never change my mind
I gotta take it on the otherside

[Pre-Chorus]
Take it on the otherside
Take it on, take it on

[Chorus]
How long, how long will I slide?
A-separate my side
I don't, I don't believe it's bad
A-slittin' my throat, it's all I ever

[Verse 3]
Pour my life into a paper cup
The ashtray's full and I'm spillin' my guts
She want to know am I still a slut?
I gotta take it on the otherside

[Verse 4]
A scarlet starlet and she's in my bed
A candidature for the soul mate bled
Mmm, push the trigger and I pull the thread
I gotta take it on the otherside

[Pre-Chorus]
Take it on the otherside
Take it on, take it on

[Chorus]
How long, how long will I slide?
Separate my side
I don't, I don't believe it's bad
A-slittin' my throat, it's all I ever

[Instrumental Break]

[Bridge]
Turn me on, take me for a hard ride
Burn me out, leave me on the otherside
I yell and tell it that it's not my friend
I tear it down, I tear it down, and then it's born again

[Instrumental Break]

[Chorus]
How long, how long will I slide?
Separate my side
I don't, I don't believe it's bad
A-slittin' my throat, it's all I ever had

[Outro]
(How long?)
I don't, I don't believe it’s sad
A-slittin' my throat, is all I ever

The Offspring's April Fool's Day prank against Axl Rose and Guns N' Roses over their album 'Chinese Democracy'

#theoffspring #axlrose #gunsnroses

I cite my sources and they may differ than other people's accounts, so I don't guarantee the actual accuracy of my videos.

Back in December of 2003 The Offspring would be releasing their seventh studio album named Splinter. But going back to April of the same year the band was getting ready to announce the name of the album and as an april fools joke got on the nerves of Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose. So much so, it resulted in the threat of legal action. Let’s explore what happened in today’s video.

Guns N’ Roses classic early 90’s lineup of frontman Axl Rose, Guitarist Slash, bassist Duff McKagan, Gilby Clarke and keyboardist Dizzy Reed would slowly fall apart by the mid 90’s. While there was no big explosion or nasty breakup, members with the exception Rose and Reed left the group or were fired by 1997. This resulted in frontman Axl Rose owning the Guns n’ Roses name and being at the helm of their new album. Years had passed since the band’s last studio album and by 1998 it appeared that Rose had assembled a new lineup of Guns N’ Roses. The following year the album had a name Chinese Democracy after Rose was interviewed by Kurt Loder over the phone and said the following “There's a lot of Chinese democracy movements, and it's something that there's a lot of talk about, and it's something that will be nice to see,” “It could also just be like an ironic statement. I don't know, I just like the sound of it.” Years would go by and while Rose and his new lineup of Guns N’ Roses would play some live shows and tour there new album was a no show. By 2003 The Offspring decided to have some fun with the whole situation when it came time to name their seventh studio record.

Frontman Dexter Holland would tell Spinner what happened saying “When the record’s coming together, you try to seriously think of a title for ten minutes and then everyone in the band jokes around for the next two hours with ideas like Offspring Bloody Offspring," "One day, somebody suggested Chinese Democracy and we couldn’t stop laughing about it." Frontman Dexter Holland would issue a statement to commemorate the Offspring’s seventh album being announced saying

You snooze, you lose,”“Axl ripped-off my braids, so I ripped-off his album title.” Some news stories claimed the offspring’s seventh album would be called chinese democracy while other stories claimed it was chinese democracy and in parentheses you snooze you lose)

So was the whole stunt legal? Well Rolling Stone Magazine would cite Greg Victoroff who is a co0yright lawyer who stated at the time “Trademark law does not come into existence
unless the title is used in interstate commerce,” adding that copyright law
does not extend to titles.

“[Right now], they’re just two ordinary words,”.
“Under that analysis, it would seem that Guns n’ Roses have no
right to that title and the Offspring are free to use it in any
purpose they wish.”

The lawyer would go on to tell Rolling Stone that while Guns N’ Roses had referred to the name CHinese Democracy in press releases and part of their failed 2002 tour it never had an official release date. Even then Victoroff would tell Rolling Stone that if both albums shared the same name as long as the name of each band was clearly labeled on the album there wouldn’t be an issue for the Offspring. In fact it’s pretty common to see albums share same names in the past and songs.

It was reported at the time that Guns N’ Roses lawyers had sent the OffSpring a cease and desist letter, something which was disputed by the Offspring’s camp.

Coincidentally, Josh Freese, would play with the Offspring in 2003 and had originally worked and wrote some of the material on Chinese Democracy from 1998-2000.

Lately I’ve been losing my mind
Certain things I can’t find
In the Middle of the night
I’m still up I’m still trying to decide

Should I drink up
Smoke up
I need some
freedom
Freedom ah!
In my life

Should I drink up
Smoke up
I need some
freedom
Freedom

Show me a little attention
a little attention
Show me attention
Show me a little attention yeah
Show me a little attention

little love and some affection on the side
little trust and some passion would be nice
Its all I desire
I need it I cannot deny

Oh a
I don see something
For my eyes only
Ain’t no emoji
Can tell how I feel
Ah
Ain’t no emoji
For my eyes only

Show me a little attention

Show me attention
Show me a little attention yeah
Show me a little attention

Lyrics:

Last night you were so into it
You told me secrets that
You've never told a soul
You were so nervous and
yet oh so comfortable
As we explored your image of love
I drank your wine
As you taste mine
I kissed your lips
You felt my body slip
Into your soul
I almost cried 'cause it was so beautiful

Last night
I was inside of you
Last night
While making love to you
I saw the sun , the moon
The mountains and the rivers
I saw heaven when I made sweet love to you

Lyrics:
Necking everyone in the pub
I guess you thought that it was just some easy fun
And now the bouncers, they’re not letting you in the club
It's Friday night that's what you get for acting up

And did you shuffle over here?
Take your arm off me
The punches just appear
Raining down
I said my boyfriend's over there
Thought the fight was fair and square

Puking into the wall
What did I think was gonna happen after all?
Why am I even here?
You’re literally 6 feet tall
Of course your head was gonna hit the ceiling in the hall

And you can run away if you want
We’re not the same as how we were
HA
Growing up
Do you remember how we sat outside the dump
Everyday and now it’s meant to be closing up?

Underneath the light
(you look so pretty)
And I think the smoke screen might
(have got your asthma)
All kinds of twisted upI hope you brought your blue in-
(-haler to the club)

Meet at MOT
(We got some noodles and some)
Cubicles to see
(You should have rang me up and)
Organised these things
(Before you turned up with)
Nothing more than skins

Try to catch the bus
You know I never ever run for anyone
So chances are we probably won't be home till sun
I'm very sorry but I’m staying out for fun

And if you wanted more
I hope that someday you can find what you came here for
There were like 20 people waiting outside the door
I'm pushing through I’m meant to be on the first floor

Underneath the light
(you look so pretty)
And I think the smoke screen might
(have got your asthma)
All kinds of twisted upI hope you brought your blue in-
(-haler to the club)

Meet at MOT
We got some noodles and some

Lyrics:
So here we go
An all-pervading sadness unfolds its wings
You have no idea how bottomless hell is
It will eat away at you to feed you agonies
Never happy never full until you're on your knees

Doom doom
It'll leave you shattered broken and forlorn
Doom doom
It will feed you with a million thorns
Doom doom
It's blowing its hunting horn
Doom doom
It will shake you to the core

A whirlwind of doom is coming for you
And you don't have a clue
A whirlwind of doom is coming for you
And you don't have a clue

Doom doom doom
A whirlwind of doom
A whirlwind of doom
Is coming for you
Doom doom doom
See the shadows creeping in
The shadows creeping in
It's coming for you
Doom doom doom
A whirlwind of doom
A whirlwind of doom
Is coming for you
Doom doom doom
See the shadows creeping in
A whirlwind of doom
Is coming for you

You're in its grip

It's coming for you with no mercy like a machete
Its forerunners seeking you appearing like a banshee
As they are riding on the waves of prophecy
Your mind is drifting towards insanity

Doom doom
A symphony of sorrow is rushing through your veins
Doom doom
The anthem of the damned echoes in your head
Doom doom
Are you ready to face the pain
Doom doom
To bleed and suffer insanely

A whirlwind of doom is coming for you
And you don't have a clue
A whirlwind of doom is coming for you
And you don't have a clue

Doom doom doom
A whirlwind of doom
A whirlwind of doom
Is coming for you
Doom doom doom
See the shadows creeping in
The shadows creeping in
It's coming for you
Doom doom doom
A whirlwind of doom
A whirlwind of doom
Is coming for you
Doom doom doom
See the shadows creeping in
A whirlwind of doom
Is coming for you

You're in its grip
It's coming for you
You're in its grip

A whirlwind of doom is coming for you
And you don't have a clue

Doom doom doom
A whirlwind of doom
A whirlwind of doom
Is coming for you
Doom doom doom
See the shadows creeping in
The shadows creeping in
It's coming for you
Doom doom doom
A whirlwind of doom
A whirlwind of doom
Is coming for you
Doom doom doom
See the shadows creeping in
A whirlwind of doom
Is coming for you

You're in its grip

LYRICS:

You can’t beat God’s giving, no matter how you try.
And just as sure as you are living
and the Lord is in heaven on high.
The more you give, the more He give to you,
but keep on giving because it’s really true
that you can’t beat God’s giving, no matter how you try.

Should we receive and never give,
the Savior died that we might live.
His life on Calvary, He gladly gave,
our sinful souls to save.

He gives me health, He keeps me strong,
He guides me when I would go wrong,
He gives me everything that I need,
my ever hunger feeds.

He gave me peace, He made me whole,
and when in sin He saved my soul.
And what I gave would never be compared
with the blessing that I share

Music video by Mavens Picture & Saults performing Only Place To Hide. (C) Kuroneko / KIF Music / Foo Manchu / Koala Management.

Verse 1 :

Those days are gone, I feel so alone
You know I’ve tried so hard to keep my fears inside
Who’s this man in the mirror ?
My bed’s the only place to hide

Verse 2 :

Will you show me the way?
Coz I’ve been waiting for ur call since you ran away
Take me through the great unknown
(cuz) My bed’s the only place to hide

Verse 3 :

See your face, and you haven’t changed
(U) used to say that time’s the one that heals the pain
All I fear it’s when we meet again
And I hope you won’t forget my name

Coda :

Would you let me see?
Coz I’ve been waiting
After all these years
That u show me the way
When we meet again
Will u know my name?

Bump, bump, bump, bump lettin' off shots

It don't stop in that Dirty South
Burn up the whole block, that's what this here be bout
Livin lawless, labeled hardest
Gonna see who's life is shortest
Regardless this whole world to me is garbage
Tryin' to reap my harvest
I'm starvin' less than a life of ballin'
Yet still tryin' to find my callin'
And make a change, look into my eyes all you see is pain
Look up in the skies all I see is rain, ain't no sunshine
Call me a monkey, but look I got King Nine bloodlines
With P-9's and semi-autos, ain't guaranteed tomorrow
Name all I borrow
I represent the slums, ate the crumbs
Now I'm reachin' for a new height
Nothin' but love and we grew tight
Played and renew sight
Hustlin' for food tight
Who the dopest on the planet Chyna Whyte
