Amber Mark: Tiny Desk (Home) Concert Hotney 5 Vues • 4 années depuis

The Tiny Desk is working from home for the foreseeable future. Introducing NPR Music's Tiny Desk (home) concerts, bringing you performances from across the country and the world. It's the same spirit — stripped-down sets, an intimate setting — just a different space.

Bobby Carter | January 31, 2022
In her Tiny Desk (home) concert, singer-songwriter and producer Amber Mark expresses more than once that performing for the series is a "bucket list" moment for her. Upon our first meeting, she came with the concept for her performance entirely laid out. "The band is gonna sing backup, and we can cut to my family in the audience at the restaurant," she said. "We'll make it beautiful." With details that evoked excitement and nervousness all at once, the ideas felt massive to me. And what she delivers here is pretty grand, yet deeply intimate.

For her concert, Mark stuck to the script, shooting her session at Palma restaurant in New York, a place she's called home since her high school days. This Tiny Desk (home) concert is a celebration of her stunning debut album, Three Dimensions Deep, and is handled with the same intricate attention to detail as she did for the album itself.

The dimensions Mark explored on the project are what she calls "without," "withheld," and "within." We're taken with her on a quest for answers to questions tied to her personal struggles with self-doubt, loss and heartbreak. She starts her concert with "On & On," which carries us from the "withheld" portion of the album right into a revelation of inner peace in songs like "Bliss" and "Worth It." Mark also slows it down and plays "Waiting" from her 2020 "COVERED-19" series.

Unique Mecca Audio on Being Drug Kingpin, Michael Jackson, Biggie, Rich & Azie (Full Interview) Hotney 5 Vues • 4 années depuis

In this full-length interview, Unique Mecca Audio starts by speaking to a VladTV correspondent about being the cousin of famed activist Marcus Garvey. Hall explained that while he saw photos of Marcus at his grandparents’ home in Jamaica, he didn’t put the pieces together until he came to the U.S. From there, Hall spoke about growing up in Kingston, Jamaica. He explained that he didn’t get his first pair of shoes until he moved to America. Unique then shared stories about seeing police in Jamaica riding on horseback and handcuffing people with rope, like in the Western movies he was watching as a kid. He then explained that the only people to look up to when he was a kid were the criminals.

Moving along, Unique Mecca Audio spoke about getting in the streets, and he explained that when he was in Jamaica, he didn’t realize that the street guys were making money illegally. Unique explained that he was being told that money was literally growing on trees, and he added that he was a “child soldier.” He went on to speak about seeing violence with his "posse" in the USA. Later, Unique Mecca Audio details the dangerous political environment while growing up in Jamaica. He explained to Cavario that in the 1970s, former Prime Minister Michael Manley was “building up” Jamaica with shanty houses. When there were two parties in Jamaica, Hall explained that things got violent as the two sides faced off.

As the Q&A session moves along, Unique Mecca Audio goes in-depth about his criminal empire, working with his brothers in the drug game, and expanding his business from New York to places such as Virginia and Florida. He also talks about the street politics involved with various territories in NYC between his empire, the Cali Cartel, and Dominican criminal organizations.

Moving along, Unique's brother, Big Boosie, makes an appearance to reflect on what he learned from the drug game and the rap game before previewing his upcoming documentary. Lastly, Unique Mecca Audio touches on his connection to the music industry, his friendship with the late 2Pac, working with Pete Rock for the first time, and how he started the "hey-ho" chant that Naughty By Nature Made Famous. He also speaks on doing business with Diddy and Biggie's passing before reflecting on the clothing line and record label he started before he got locked up. Aerosmith - America's Greatest Rock and Roll Band - Music Documentaries Hotney 5 Vues • 4 années depuis

Aerosmith - America's Greatest Rock and Roll Band - Music Documentaries.

Welcome to DOCUMENTARIES - home of the best documentary movies and documentary films.

Aerosmith is an American rock band, sometimes referred to as "the Bad Boys from Boston"[4] and "America's Greatest Rock and Roll Band".[5][6][7][8] Their style, which is rooted in blues-based hard rock,[9][10] has come to also incorporate elements of pop,[11] heavy metal,[9] and rhythm and blues,[12] and has inspired many subsequent rock artists.[13] They were formed in Boston, Massachusetts in 1970.[14] Guitarist Joe Perry and bassist Tom Hamilton, originally in a band together called the Jam Band, met up with vocalist/pianist/harmonicist Steven Tyler, drummer Joey Kramer, and guitarist Ray Tabano, and formed Aerosmith. In 1971, Tabano was replaced by Brad Whitford, and the band began developing a following in Boston.

They were signed to Columbia Records in 1972, and released a string of gold and platinum albums, beginning with their 1973 eponymous debut album, followed by Get Your Wings in 1974.[15] In 1975, the band broke into the mainstream with the album Toys in the Attic, and their 1976 follow-up Rocks cemented their status as hard rock superstars.[16] Two additional albums followed in 1977 and 1979. Their first five albums have since attained multi-platinum status. Throughout the 1970s, the band toured extensively and charted a dozen Hot 100 singles. By the end of the decade, they were among the most popular hard rock bands in the world and developed a loyal following of fans, often referred to as the "Blue Army".[17] However, drug addiction and internal conflict took their toll on the band, which led to the departures of Perry and Whitford in 1979 and 1981, respectively; they were replaced by Jimmy Crespo and Rick Dufay.[10] The band did not fare well between 1980 and 1984, releasing the album Rock in a Hard Place, which was certified gold but failed to match their previous successes.

Perry and Whitford returned to Aerosmith in 1984 and the band signed a new deal with Geffen Records. After a comeback tour, the band recorded Done with Mirrors (1985), which won some critical praise but failed to come close to commercial expectations. It was not until the band's collaboration with rap group Run–D.M.C. in 1986, and the 1987 multi-platinum release Permanent Vacation, that they regained the level of popularity they had experienced in the 1970s.[18] In the late 1980s and 1990s, the band scored several hits and won numerous awards for music from the multi-platinum albums Pump (1989), Get a Grip (1993), and Nine Lives (1997), and embarked on their most extensive concert tours to date. The band also became a pop culture phenomenon with popular music videos and notable appearances in television, film, and video games. Their comeback has been described as one of the most remarkable and spectacular in rock 'n' roll history.[9][10] Additional albums followed in 2001, 2004, and 2012. After 48 years of performing, the band continues to tour and record music, but is embarking on a farewell tour[19] that will likely last several years.[20]

Aerosmith is the best-selling American hard rock band of all time, having sold more than 150 million records worldwide, including over 70 million records in the United States alone.[21][22] With 25 gold albums, 18 platinum albums, and 12 multi-platinum albums, they hold the record for the most total certifications by an American band and are tied for the most multi-platinum albums by an American band. The band has scored 21 Top 40 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, nine number-one Mainstream Rock hits, four Grammy Awards, six American Music Awards, and ten MTV Video Music Awards. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001, and were included among both Rolling Stone's and VH1's lists of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time.[23] In 2013, the band's principal songwriters, Tyler and Perry, were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
