Flau’jae Johnson On Angel Reese, Caitlin Clark, Megan Thee Stallion, Klay Thompson, & LaMelo Bal Hotney 261 Просмотры • 1 год тому назад

On this episode of Club Shay Shay, Shannon Sharpe sits down with LSU basketball star, rapper, and Roc Nation signee Flau’jae Johnson — a true force in both sports and music.

She reflects on being discovered on Lifetime’s The Rap Game with Jermaine Dupri, seeing Latto on the show before her own rise, and meeting legends like Queen Latifah, Da Brat, Fabolous, and Rick Ross. She reveals her dream collabs — Missy Elliott, Nicki Minaj, Megan Thee Stallion, Cardi B — and shares her Female Rapper Mount Rushmore.

Flau’jae dives into her unforgettable America’s Got Talent moment and the impact of Simon Cowell’s words: “You’re going to be a star.” She gets emotional discussing the loss of her father before she was born, the pain of hearing stories she never got to live, and his unsolved case — including the powerful dream that brought her closer to him.

From performing in clubs at 8 years old to touring with Mindless Behavior, Flau’jae explains how music was always in her blood. She shares how Boosie, Birdman, and Jeezy respected her father, and how Boosie looked out for her early on.

She speaks on her respect for Coach Dawn Staley, while showing love to other coaches like Yolett McPhee-McCuin. Though her dream school was originally Georgia, LSU gave her the chance to shine — and under Coach Kim Mulkey, she never had to dim her light.

She breaks down winning the national championship, the bond with Angel Reese, Jasmine Carson, and LaDaziah Williams, and her take on women’s sports rising, Caitlin Clark, and whether there’s real tension in the WNBA. She addresses the media pitting Caitlin and Angel against each other, and celebrates Angel’s WNBA 2K26 cover.

In the second half of Flau'jae's conversation on Club Shay Shay, she reflects on playing against Coach Staley, what it would’ve meant to team up with Aliyah Boston, and her goal to beat South Carolina before she leaves LSU. She shares the viral story of her brother rushing the court, and sets her sights on another national title — she’s tired of Elite 8 exits.

She keeps it real about the financial realities of going pro — making less in the WNBA than with NIL — and offers powerful advice to college athletes and parents: invest your NIL money. She’s trained with stars like Paige Bueckers, played against Juju Watkins, and recently bought 20 acres of land.

Opening up about survivor’s guilt, she discusses feeling conflicted about “making it,” and shares her only job ever outside of hoops: DoorDash. She runs down her brand partnerships — Puma, Meta, JBL, Taco Bell, Doritos, Tinder, Invisalign, TurboTax, Raising Cane’s, Amazon, Samsung, Oreos, and more.

Flau’jae shares her thoughts on Ja Morant’s shoes, the launch of WNBA’s 3-on-3 Unrivaled with Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier, and how Napheesa is investing in women’s sports. She shouts out her mom and manager, while showing love to Jayden Daniels’ mom Regina.

She also reveals her plans to build a community center in Savannah, opens up about privately dating her LSU WR boyfriend. Now signed to Roc Nation, she’s in the same roster as Rihanna, J. Cole, Lil Uzi Vert, Megan Thee Stallion, and more.

From flying on LaMelo Ball’s private jet to performing with Lil Wayne at the ESPYs, Flau’jae is proving that you really can do it all. She even picks her dream WNBA starting five and shares why she’d love to play with the legendary Maya Moore.

This is more than a conversation — it’s a blueprint for how to be iconic in your own lane. Don’t miss it.

Lyrics
It’s always the loudmouths that can’t count
The right price, I put the AR in the saint’s mouth (talk about it)
Bring all the watches and the chains out
Heat come, I’m De Niro, I got the safe house
(This is culturally inappropriate)
Surrounded by * with tears that don’t drip
(Talk about it)
That ain’t the ghost that you appear to go get
Finally got the courage but you still a whole *
The rest of y’all on my six year ago *
Every move intentional, the links is atypical
Like baseball in D.R., you know what the stick’ll do
(This is culturally inappropriate)
We got the drop on your shadow
You know we can get to you
The pen to express my dreams and expertise
And TEC’s I squeeze
Coke spots all over like leprosy
It’s a dark spirit tucked behind the flesh you see
Got every single word of the hex I need
The death I breathe, the death I see
Looks so good on ya, the coffin wood on ya
Closed casket cause I’m only siccing wolves on ya
Berlinetta horse power, put them hooves on ya
Blow a half a mil in LV leather goods on ya
We been doing this for eons
While you thirsty trying to figure out who you can spill the tea on
I’m in coffee fields making mil’s
You get the chills ‘cause this * is real
Now let me ribbon bowtie your surprise
The feeling that you get when you realize
It was really you that died and we are so alive
Conspiracy theory, you can’t believe it’s us
Soul leave your body like a fentanyl rush
Dead on your back with your eyes looking up
Chandeliers
(This is culturally inappropriate)

Single-handedly boosted rap to its truest place
* speaking candidly, I alone did rejuvenate
Hip-hip into its newest place
Made it cool for Grammy nominated LP’s from previous generation MC’s
And that rings loud and reverberates
It’s not fair to them, I’m thinking I deserve the hate
Bring it, the only thing you killing is precious time
Used to clash with Decepticons, I was dumb, deaf and blind
So cancel me before I unleash the “Panther” me
The pantheon is a family, we some upstanding G’s
The difference between regular spitters and bosses
My principles’ high
You need a glimpse of me from satellites in orbit
Tape sabbaticals on avenues
Bring AK’s on vacay’s when we paddle canoes
Follow the leader, Terminator
Hasta la vista, man of the year
Nasir, rockin' chandeliers

M HUNCHO: On Faith, Fatherhood & Why He Will Never Reveal His Face | ON A LEVEL Hotney 5 Просмотры • 1 год тому назад

Masked UK rapper / singer M Huncho opens up in this rare ON A LEVEL interview with Complex UK's Editor-in-Chief Joseph 'JP' Patterson. Filmed in September 2023, the North West London artist speaks on fatherhood, faith, and the creative freedom that comes with staying anonymous—including why he’ll never reveal his face, and how MF DOOM inspired him to embrace mystery over fame.

Known for pioneering the trap-wave sound, Huncho breaks down his journey from Get Out to My Neighbours Don’t Know to Chasing Euphoria, and why authenticity matters more than numbers. He also reflects on his evolution as a man and artist, balancing family life with independence in a small but competitive UK scene.

In this exclusive sit-down, M Huncho talks:
🎭 Why he’ll never show his face — and the MF DOOM influence
🙏🏻 How religion and spirituality shape his creativity
👑 Fatherhood and priorities beyond the music
📀 Building his catalogue without compromising
📈 Views on stats, success, and being self-sufficient
🧢 Launching his clothing brand MYB (Mind Your Business)
🌍 Dreaming beyond the UK: international goals
🌱 Shouting out talent like Nippa, Kamal, and Steve Drive

Whether you've followed Huncho from Utopia or you're just discovering his world, this is a raw and honest conversation with one of the UK’s most unique and uncompromising voices.
