A masterclass from Samantha Togni in foot-stomping, gyrating techno.
The Lab is brought to you by Mixmag & Coors and powered by Pioneer PRO AUDIO system.
Samantha Togni is playing on the Pioneer DJ DJM-A9

Italy-born, London-based producer and mix engineer Samantha Togni makes her debut in The Lab LDN this Friday as part of a very special Pioneer DJ takeover. Breaking out in the mid-'10s with her supercharged fusion of industrial techno and hard dance, Samantha Togni has celebrated some big wins in a very short space of time, hopping from stage to stage in Ibiza, Berlin, Tokyo, and beyond.

Togni is the brains behind London music platform Boudica showcasing women, trans+ and non-binary artists in the harder edge of dance music, and is a resident DJ at Gegen Berlin, a club night built around **** narratives.

Mixmag & Coors took The Lab on Location to The Grain Store, Wolverhampton, UK. where rising star Sosa delivered his signature brand of rolling tech house.

The Grain Store Wolverhampton is an award winning multi complex venue with an adaptive outdoor arena space as well as multiple indoor event spaces. We host an array of events of renowned artists, DJ’s and brands. Each space boasts state of the art technology and visuals.

Next up: Nastia

We couldn't have asked for a better name than Nastia, the Ukranian techno heavyweight that has etched her mark in the world of dance music, one feat at a time. She started her career in 2005, with residencies and weekly live radio shows. She has founded two record labels - Propaganda and NECHTO.

In addition to house and techno, Nastia is a true fan of jungle and drum and bass music and has included these genres in her performances since 2007. .All these years, Nastia's activities have always aimed at popularizing Ukrainian culture and local artists, which has made her the face of the
Ukrainian electronic music scene on the global stage.

Nastia is a rare example of how great success can be achieved solely by DJing, ideas and hard work - so far she is the most touring and popular DJ in the history of Ukraine. She performs at key venues around the world and takes an active social and political position in all her endeavours.

Next up: Amotik

After moving to Berlin in 2014, Amotik has steadily built a base in the city that significantly inspired him. Starting in 2015 with a series of EPs on his self-titled imprint and later following with guest appearances on 47, BPitch Control, and Figure.

Having developed a unique style of hypnotic/atmospheric techno with a relentless, raw undertone - his consistency as both a DJ and producer has seen him regularly perform at some of the most exciting clubs and festivals around the globe, whilst maintaining a residency at the renowned venue Goethebunker in Essen.

In late 2019, Amotik released his debut album ‘Vistār’. The album was given the accolade ‘Album of the Month’ in Mixmag and featured as an ‘Essential Album’ in Groove Magazine. The release was accompanied by a debut live tour with performances at Berghain, Fabric, Fuse, The Block, Rex Club, Awakenings and a whole host of venues along the way.

Tune in to this driving journey with elements of ambient, broken beats and textured soundscapes.

Another Life Lyrics:
In another life
In another life
In another life
Where time flies by
I shed my tears
Every night
My heart is aching
I promised myself I wouldn’t break it
This time you can’t play around oohhh
Don’t let me find it all out
Again
Love is a wicked game
But still we play it, still we play it
Love is a wicked game
But still we play it, still we play it
In another life
I’ll kiss the days good bye
And I’ll carry on
There’s more on the other side
My heart is aching
I promised myself I wouldn’t break it
This time you can’t play around oohh
Don’t let me find it all out
Again
Love is a wicked game
But still we play it, still we play it
Love is a wicked game
But still we play it, still we play it
Love
Don’t let your love run out
Don’t let your love run out
Don’t let your love run out
Don’t let your love run out
Don’t let your love run out
Don’t let your love run out
Don’t let your love run out
Don’t let your love run out
Don’t let your love run out (Love)
Don’t let your love run out
Don’t let your love run out
Don’t let your love run out
Don’t let your love run out
Don’t let your love run out
Don’t let your love run out
Don’t let your love run out
Don’t let your love run out (Love)
Don’t let your love run out
Don’t let your love run out
Don’t let your love run out
Don’t let your love run out
Don’t let your love run out
Don’t let your love run out
Don’t let your love run out

Sept. 27, 2017 | Abby O'Neill -- Reggae has long been the most vivid musical escape for me. Its soul-cleansing riddims always feel familiar and cozy, like rushing into your lover's arms after a significant time away. This is especially true for roots reggae, whose staccato guitar licks, billowing bass, and sonic splashes on a canvas of negative space, are like salve for the soul. The mid-tempo pulse varnishes heads with Kool-Aid grins and daydreams of living beachside amid nature's unrestricted beauty.

Given all that, you can understand why I've been obsessed with Chronixx lately. At a time when dancehall has been dominating the Jamaican soundscape, its refreshing to hear the man born Jamar McNaughton carrying the roots-revival torch for a younger generation and expanding upon the footprint left by his world-renowned predecessors.

Chronixx and his band Zincfence Redemption paid a long-awaited visit to the Tiny Desk to perform three songs from his sop****re album, Chronology.

Set List:

"Skankin' Sweet"
"Majesty"
"Spanish Town Rocking"

Musicians:

Jamar McNaughton "Chronixx" (vocals); Evan Mason (keys); Stephen Coore (guitar); N'Namdi Robinson (guitar); Hector Lewis (percussion); Adrian Henry (bass); Oliver Thompson (drums)

Lyrics:
I’m feeling on your baba treesha Shorty said she like my demeanor And she look like a eater
I’m off the perky geekin

(x2)
Wait, wait, oh wait Oooh, Ooohh

Fish bowl send shots
Bend blocks in the back
Earthquakes and selling cracks
All my niggas into that
You send a shot we send it back
All facts no cap
Put my hat to the back
100,000 in the bag
$11 an hour ain’t enough to live
So I’ma go in every store and I’ma swipe this shit They try to lock a nigga up and I’m like fuck a bid Cause either way, mommy still gon’ love her kid
I just took 20 from the city they like who is you
A lot of niggas talking shit that they don’t really do
I’m bout to turn my Air Force ones into a Gucci shoe
I’m about to turn my Timberlands into a Yeezy boot
My president black, bandana is blue
Yeah I’m dripping got me glistening like I came out the pool I’m so exotic like I came out the zoo, but I shot out the coupe I got a scope with a clear eye view, woo
I’m feeling on your baba treesha Shorty said she like my demeanor And she look like a eater
I’m off the perky geekin

(x2)
Wait, wait, oh wait
My Demeanor is meaner than yours Oooh, Ooohh
Female alpha and I practice what I preach I devour, tell me can you take the heat You can touch with your eyes only
I know you like what you see
That Je Ne Sais Quoi energy Baby get on your knees
You can’t say Pop without Smoke

So fill up your lungs my diamonds will make ya choke
You like the way I move my demeanor is meaner than yours So clap for the encore
You can’t say Pop without Smoke
So fill up your lungs my diamonds will make ya choke
You like the way I move my demeanor is meaner than yours So clap for the encore
I’m feeling on your baba treesha Shorty said she like my demeanor And she look like a eater
I’m off the perky geekin

(x2)
Wait, wait, oh wait
My Demeanor is meaner than yours Oooh, Ooohh
