Documentary about the rise of Jungle music in the UK. Originally aired on BBC2 in 1994 featuring Shy Fx, Uk Apache, LTJ Bukem, Fabio, DJ Rap, Mc Lenny and Mc Gunsmoke.

Over 15 years in the making, the world of improvisational rap, is explosively explored in this award wining and critically acclaimed authentic look into the life, music and history of 1990's underground hip hop culture! Packed with rare and archival footage of some of the most amazing MC's ever to bless the mic, the film features the story of MC Supernatural and his quest to become a champion, battling many in his way including his arch nemesis Craig G of the famed Marley Marl Juice Crew. Made by a grass roots co-operative of independent local community filmmakers, b-boys, DJ's, and MC's, this documentary takes us on a journey through the previously unexamined dimensions of hip hop as a spiritual and community based art form. Combining the best of independent art house cinema within the hip hop mix tape format, the film features legendary battles from New York to LA, including The Lyricist Lounge, Project Blowed, and The Wake Up Show! The artists featured in the film, from Mos Def to Notorious BIG provide insight into one of the least seen faces present in the music: improvisation and creativity. Structured with insights from the Last Poet's esteemed Abioudun Oyweole and jazz & rap historians Freestyle connects the dots from the pain and love of yesterday's poets to today's hip hop inovators. Revealing the art forms stunningly emotional outlet, whether sharing energy in a street corner cipher for block cred or a stadium's commercial rap performance full of 1,000s of paying fans. Like the Griots of Africa or the wail of Coltrane's saxophone, today's hip hop MCs all have a similar purpose: to share their experience with others hungry for truth, community and healing.

We spent 9 days here in Iceland! At the beginning this was just an impossible project even to think about, but after these 9 days we can finally say we molded it into reality!
We brought all our team here in Iceland, but more than a team they really are true friends and special people for us. They helped us make our dream possible with supporting our crazyness every single day; without sleeping, eating, making long hikes, and putting all their effort!
Nothing was taken for granted!
We toured most of Iceland, experiencing the most beautiful sunrises, coloring our eyes with joy after long runs, filled our lungs and souls breathing the purest air in the middle of huge canyons, drinking water from glaciers, and danced under the coldest rain and laid on greenest grass just simply looking at the stars!
This trip really made an impact in our lives, and we’ll be always grateful for it!
We chose the craziest, remote, pure, raw and surreal locations to shoot all our new album videos! Let us say this, you’re not ready for it!!! You’re not ready for this album!

⁣Piers Morgan's Life Stories - Barry Gibb - 3rd Feb 2017

Lebensmelodien, or ‘Melodies of Life’, is a concert series of works written by Jewish composers between 1933 and 1945. The musical pieces are connected by stories of the most inhuman of lived realities; of deadly fear, of destruction – but also of survival. Sung by people who joined together and passed on to provide hope, the Lebensmelodien concert series aims to reintroduce the works – many of which were at risk of fading into obscurity – to the modern public. Not only that: The melodies serve as witness to the mass murder of the European Jews, keeping the memory alive.

Artistic director of the two-year project is Nur Ben Shalom, who researched around the globe in his search for the composers and pieces. He not only performs the music, he also tells the stories of its Jewish creators.

This documentation contains excerpts of one of the concerts – on January 27, 2021, in Berlin’s Synagogue Pestalozzistraße – performed by the Nimrod Ensemble, in which Nur Ben Shalom plays clarinet. The Lebensmelodien are sung by Isidoro Abramowicz, cantor of the synagogue.

The musicians are also accompanied in a rehearsal for a concert at Berlin’s Apostel-Paulus-Kirche. The Apostel Paulus church is a project partner. The Lebensmelodien concert opened the ‘1,700 years of Jewish life in Germany’ anniversary festivities.

"Tears Are Not Enough" is a 1985 charity single recorded by a supergroup of Canadian artists, under the name Northern Lights, to raise funds for relief of the 1983–85 famine in Ethiopia. It was one of a number of such supergroup singles recorded between December 1984 and April 1985, along with Band Aid's "Do They Know It's Christmas?" in the United Kingdom, USA for Africa's "We Are the World" in the United States, "Cantaré, cantarás" by a supergroup of Latin American and Spanish singers, and "Les Yeux de la faim" in French Canada.

Although recorded independently of the USA for Africa project, it was included on the full-length We Are the World album.

The project was organized by Bruce Allen, who brought together a large group of artists to record a song written by David Foster, Jim Vallance, Bryan Adams, Rachel Paiement, Paul Hyde and Bob Rock. Foster and Vallance wrote the music and initial lyrics, Adams completed the English lyrics, Paiement wrote the one French verse, Rock & Hyde contributed the song title. The song was recorded on February 10, 1985 at Manta Sound studios in Toronto.

The song was issued as a single by CBS Records in March of that year, and quickly reached number one on the Canadian Top 40 chart. It also finished number one on the year-end Canadian charts for 1985. The song's video also received extensive airplay on MuchMusic.

On December 22, 1985, CBC Television aired a 90-minute documentary on the song's creation, which was subsequently released on videocassette. A CBC reporter, Brian Stewart, had been the first Western journalist to bring the famine in Ethiopia to worldwide attention.

By 1990, the project had raised $3.2 million for famine relief projects in Africa. Ten percent of the funds raised were kept in Canada to assist Canadian food banks.
