Lyrics:

You drag the whole world down inside your gravity
I’d rather watch you drown than live inside the flames

I wish I could write you something you could relate to
But with the shit you put me through I’m kinda afraid to
You push all the blame on me like it’s your way to
Escape from the reality that everyone hates you
No one can break through
And all you wanna do is evade truths
Lying through your teeth like you were selling some fake news
Hoping everyone will play your games and embrace you
But all we wanna do is find a way to escape you

So run away
You’ll never escape yourself
With one foot in the grave

You drag the whole world down inside your gravity
It’s a long way down from here
It’s a long way down from here
I’d rather watch you drown than live inside the flames
It’s a long way down from here
It’s a long way down from here

There ya go again always making the worst of it
You push away your friends and you’re always the first to quit
The thoughts in your head ain’t nothing but turbulent
Quit trying to pretend that your life hasn’t turned to shit
How did you forget what being a person is
And how can I respect you when you’re making it hurt like this
Karma’s a bitch, it’s what you deserve to get
If you made the fire then I think you should burn in it

So run away
You’ll never escape yourself
With one foot in the grave

You drag the whole world down inside your gravity
It’s a long way down from here
It’s a long way down from here
I’d rather watch you drown than live inside the flames
It’s a long way down from here
It’s a long way down from here

You feel it sinking in
Underneath the skin
You’re gone
So will you sink or swim
All alone again
So long

So will you sink or swim

So run, run away

You drag the whole world down inside your gravity
It’s a long way down from here
It’s a long way down from here
I’d rather watch you drown than live inside the flames
It’s a long way down from here
It’s a long way down from here

It’s a long way down from here
It’s a long way down from here

Down from here

It’s a long way down from here
It’s a long way down from here

"Silent Winter" Lyrics:

The sky is black
There’s smoke in the air
Imminent threat
Disillusion and fear

Say your prayers
The Heaven’s at stake
The war is here
Make no mistake

This never ending
Circle of death and hatred
Our silence is our enemy

Silent winter and the widowed dreams
The serpent dances to the children’s screams
Silent winter and the widowed dreams
As we all repeat the histories

Drunk with power
Blind with rage
They march the streets
On a killing spree

Stand and fight
Is the only way
Win or lose
You’re just pawns in chess

This never ending
Circle of death and hatred
Conjured by our own mistakes

Silent winter and the widowed Dreams
The serpent dances to the children’s screams
Silent winter and the widowed dreams
As we all repeat the histories

We all are our own enemies

Silent winter and the widowed Dreams
The serpent dances to the children’s screams
Silent winter and the widowed dreams
As we all repeat the histories

Silent winter and the widowed dreams
(Silent winter)
The serpent dances to the children’s screams

Here's what some icons have to say about the book!!!

Ice-T: "Respect to Soren Baker for documenting the history of gangster rap in these pages. Some hate it. Some love it. But you can’t deny its brutal, hardcore honesty."

The D.O.C.: "History has so often been written by the victors, that you very rarely ever get the real story behind anything. So it’s really important to hear from the people that were there, which is exactly what Soren Baker shares in this book. He writes about it and he’s honest about it."

Xzibit: "Hip-hop changed the world. Gangster rap changed the narrative, and then changed the world again. Soren Baker has been a very integral part of documenting hip-hop on the West Coast for as long as I can remember. I don’t think anybody is more qualified to write this book."

Leslie “Big Lez” Segar: "Soren Baker has changed the perspective of gangster rap by putting his pen to paper. He has given hip-hop power, proven its potential, and made non-believers contemplate all of its possibilities. The truth in his writing leaves no stone unturned, something he's done again with The History of Gangster Rap. Soren doesn’t just champion hip-hop. He also reveals its flaws and its truths."

Lyrics
Every time we fight
See it in your eyes
I know that this is wrong, I know it
Even though I try
I never say it right
Been hating for so long, for so long

Ohh tonight I’m leaving
So I can stop us bleeding
Need a little time for healing
Darlin’ I know that this is hard, I know

I will love you better when I’m lovin’ myself
I’ll be back when I’m ready to love someone else
I Promise you in time I’m gonna treat you so well
I’m thinkin’ ‘bout us, thinkin’ bout us

I’m thinkin’ ‘bout us us us us
I’m thinkin’ ‘bout us, ohh
I’m thinkin’ ‘bout us us us us
I’m thinkin’ ‘bout us, thinkin’ ‘bout us, I’m thinkin bout

Gotta walk away
It’s the only way
I hope you understand, I hope
It’s make or break
And it won’t change
Without getting the space that I need

Ohh tonight I’m leaving
So I can stop us bleeding
Need a little time for healing
Darlin’ I know that this is hard, I know

I will love you better when I’m lovin’ myself
I’ll be back when I’m ready to love someone else
I Promise you in time I’m gonna treat you so well
I’m thinkin’ ‘bout us, thinkin’ bout us

I’m thinkin’ ‘bout us us us us
You know I’m thinkin’ ‘bout us, ohh
I’m thinkin’ ‘bout us us us us
I’m thinkin’ ‘bout us, thinkin’ ‘bout us, I’m thinkin bout us

You know I’m thinkin’ ‘bout us,
I’m thinkin’ ‘bout us
I’m thinkin’ ‘bout us, thinkin’ ‘bout us

I will love you better when I’m lovin’ myself

Lyrics:

We had a plan
Move out of this town baby
West to the sand We had a
It’s all we talked about lately
I’d pack the car, bring your guitar and Jane for smoking
First thing at dawn you’d cue the songs and we’d get going

But you weren’t home
Waited on the porch for ya
Sat there alone
All throughout the morn till I
Got a hunch, down in my gut
And snuck around the back
Empty cans and I’ll be damned
Your shit was never packed

Did your boots stop workin?
Did your truck break down?
Did you burn through the money?
Did your ex find out?
Where there’s a will then there’s a way and I’m damn sure you lost it
Didn’t even say goodbye
Just wish I knew what caused it

Was the whiskey flowing?
Were you in a fight?
Did the nerves come get ya?
What’s your alibi?
I made my way back to LA, and that’s where you’ll be forgotten
In 40 years you’ll still be here, drunk, washed up in Austin

A hell of bluff
You had me believin’
How many months
Did you plan on leaving
What happened, bad habits
Did you go back,
Go batshit
I loved you, how tragic

Did your boots stop workin?
Did your truck break down?
Did you burn through the money?
Did your ex find out?
Where there’s a will then there’s a way and I’m damn sure you lost it
Didn’t even say goodbye
Just wish I knew what caused it

Was the whiskey flowing?
Were you in a fight?
Did the nerves come get ya?
What’s your alibi?
I made my way back to LA, and that’s where you’ll be forgotten

What happened, didn’t you forget about me?
What brought you back here?
Yeah before, you were my love
But now, I dont want it anymore
Come back? No
Leave you? No
And I dont know, my head is spinning
And I’m always like “yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah”

Make me crazy, make me crazy
When the beat drops, invite me to dance
Make me crazy, make me crazy
When he's near or far, it makes me tired
Make me crazy, make me crazy
When the beat drops, invite me to dance
Make me crazy, make me crazy
When he's near or far, it makes me tired
Yeah yeah, yeah yeah, yeah yeah, yeah yeah

My love, my intentions aren't there anymore
You don't know how to play with us
The music plays like this
But it plays drums and flute
Come back, no
Think about you, no
Leave you, no
And I don’t know, my head is spinning
And I’m always like “yeah yeah yeah yeah”

Make me crazy, make me crazy
When the beat drops, invite me to dance
Make me crazy, make me crazy
When he's near or far, it makes me tired
Make me crazy, make me crazy
When the beat drops, invite me to dance
Make me crazy, make me crazy
When he's near or far, it makes me tired
Yeah yeah, yeah yeah, yeah yeah, yeah yeah

The one who makes me crazy
The one who tortures me
What is it you're doing to me?
One day you take me, one day you leave me
But that’s it, I don’t want it anymore
Come back? No
Think about it? No
But this is what my hearts wants
My brain is on the side, I’m leaning on it

Make me crazy, make me crazy
When the beat drops, invite me to dance
Make me crazy, make me crazy
When he's near or far, it makes me tired
Make me crazy, make me crazy
When the beat drops, invite me to dance
Make me crazy, make me crazy
When he's near or far, it makes me tired
Yeah yeah, yeah yeah, yeah yeah, yeah yeah

Commenting on the track, the band explains: "Our upcoming album 'Sounds Of The Forgotten' is our defining statement, a testament to what we in Witherfall hold sacred in the Rock and Metal Zeitgeist. We delve into many forms on 'Sounds Of The Forgotten' and one of the truly lost art-forms becoming ever more rare is the 'Power Ballad'. Forgoing cheesy and sometimes hallow tropes about unrequited love we chose to write about our love of music. This ballad is an ode for anyone that finds themselves on their journey (whatever it may be) and fearing that their dream may be slipping away from them. Where do i begin? is a call to find your passion again and revisit those initial reasons for all of your sacrifices."

WITHERFALL

Where Do I Begin?
Once upon a time, before all of our ties were broken
We used to try to hide our prejudice and lies unspoken
Now we long for days and revisit our pasts abandoned
They’re falling away, left to tell the story of our lives…

If our dream dies, will I be awake enough to save it?
If I have a choice, tell me Where do I begin?
Time after time, given everything I had for nothing
To find an answer, deny the sin. Tell me, Where do I Begin?

Our reality unwinds, bring in all the wasted years in focus
Though we try to justify, those memories will not console us
Here we stand today, as witness to our fading seasons
The years drift away, to sail across the river lost in time

If our dream dies, will I be awake enough to save it?
If I have a choice, tell me Where do I begin?
Time after time, given everything I had for nothing
To find an answer, deny the sin. Tell me, Where do I Begin?

Will no one here, pose the question? We all want answers.
Time is not our friend, though we will surely meet tonight.
Waiting in a small room, locked beyond the door as it closes forever.
Forever…

If our dream dies, will I be awake enough to save it?
If I have a choice, tell me Where do I begin?
Time after time, given everything I had for nothing
To find an answer, deny the sin. Tell me, Where do I Begin?

(c) 2023 Deathwave Records & Nocturnes and Requiems ASCAP

Witherfall was formed in Los Angeles in 2013.
