To mark the release of her two new Sound Therapy collections on Apple Music and reflect on the 10 year anniversary of her album Revival, Selena Gomez sat down with Zane Lowe for a vulnerable and candid conversation about the power of music, her sense of mission, and the beauty of empathy and human connection.

Selena sees her life purpose as connecting with people, through shared experiences, meeting them where they are to support them. This purpose is brought to life through the Rare Impact Fund, which Selena founded in 2020 to expand access to mental health resources for young people around the world.

Whether it’s championing mental health care and awareness for young people with the Rare Impact Fund, releasing new music, or joining Sound Therapy on Apple Music, this purpose is what drives her.

Today Selena has released two exclusive collections on Apple Music’s Sound Therapy — one to help reduce stress and improve mood, and one to support concentration and attention. As she says in the interview: “Music plays a huge part in what happens mentally”.

Powered by Sollos at Universal Music Group, the mixes are made from Selena’s instrumentals, curated and blended with monaural beats to support mental wellbeing by audio technologists, cognitive scientists and producers.

Selena’s Sound Therapy collections another example of her living her purpose, connecting with people and providing accessible, effective support for anxiety and stress, low mood, and poor concentration.

When Amerie arrived at the Tiny Desk, her enthusiastic energy and bright smile was an instant mood boost. The warm entrance felt fitting for an artist whose music embodies the soul of summer: bold percussion, breezy vocals and the feeling of endless possibilities.

When her sop****re album Touch dropped in 2005, it introduced a national audience to the infectious rhythms of go-go. Rooted in Washington, D.C., go-go is known for its layered percussion, funky basslines and live instrumentation made to hype the crowd. These sounds pulse through Amerie's music and helped to make "1 Thing" a standout in a year overflowing with R&B hits.

Amerie, who once lived in Washington, D.C. for several years, returns to the city with a reimagined set accompanied by go-go legends Backyard Band. Together, they open the show with songs from her debut album All I Have, including "Talkin' to Me" and the quintessential summer anthem "Why Don't We Fall in Love." She eases into her latest single, "Mine," and delivers a fan-favorite "I Just Died," before introducing a new rendition of "Rolling Down My Face" that you'll want to hear all the time from now on. By the time "Talkin' About" kicks in, Amerie is in full dance mode. When "1 Thing" closes out the set, she steps from behind the Desk to join the dance party, turning the performance into a celebration.
