Kerry Hilson definitely showed potential back in the late 2000s, early 2010s. I remember when she burst on the scene in 2008 to 2010 with songs like “turning me on” featuring Lil Wayne that went platinum, “pretty girl rock” also a platinum record, and “Knock You Down” featuring Kanye West and Neyo, that went double platinum and became the #1 rnb song in the country. Her only #1 rnb song of her career. In those times Keri was seen as the new face of rnb and it seemed she was poised to carry that tittle, as she had all the qualities to do so, except the one that really mattered most. The ability to deal with the politics of the music industry and being famous in general. Mostly all unwritten ones that may have gotten her blackballed from then on. Her No Boys Allowed album and it’s final single “Lose control” feat Nelly in 2011 marked her final releases until she returned from a 9 year hiatus with information about new music on the horizon, but that new music still has yet to be released. Back then the rnb world were used to Beyonce dominating the genre on the female side all throughout the 2000s, growing into the unofficial gatekeeper of sorts and Queen of that scene, and as fans do, they grow and begin to want something new and fresh to hit the scene. What's an hour of the day
We throw at least one away
And walk the streets for half the year
To try to find a new career
If you get a flu attack
For thirty days you're on your back
Doing not a single dance
Baby give me half a chance
It only takes a minute girl (only takes a minute girl)
To fall in love, to fall in love (to fall in love)
It only takes a minute girl (it only takes a minute girl)
To fall in love, to fall in love
Now in the unemployment lines
You can spend your life reading signs
Waiting for your interview
They can shoot the whole day for you
Now winter's gonna turn to spring
And you haven't accomplished a thing
So baby can't you make me just a little time
'Cause you never know what's on my mind
It only takes a minute girl (only takes a minute girl)
To fall in love, to fall in love (to fall in love)
It only takes a minute girl (it only takes a minute girl)
To fall in love, to fall in love
It only takes a minute girl (that's one minute)
To fall in love (to fall in love, to fall in love (to fall in love)
It only takes a minute girl (just one minute )
To fall in love, to fall in love (to fall in love)
Alright let's go
Dance, come on now
Dance
Dance, come on now
Dance, come on now
Dance
Dance, come on now
It only takes a minute girl (please just one minute)
To fall in love (just one minute) to fall in love (just one minute)
It only takes a minute girl (it only takes a minute, girl)
To fall in love, to fall in love (to fall in love)
It only takes a minute girl (that's one minute)
To fall in love, to fall in love, (just one minute)
It only takes a minute girl (it only takes a minute girl)
To fall in love, to fall in love (to fall in love)
It only takes a minute girl (please just one minute)
To fall in love (to fall in love, to fall in love (to fall in love)

Lyrics

Master of the darkness • Siren of the storm • Whisper in the silence • The king of nevermore • Keeper of the secrets • Reaper in the fall • Reigning here eternal • The king of nevermore
The bells will ring • Virtue extolled • Behold, destiny, thy guidance • Master of dominion, he’s the shadow on the wall • His arms are always open • He’s the name we leave unspoken • He’s the king of nevermore • The harbinger of all • Dark matters • Breaker of the cycle • Seeker of the soul • Shepherd in the ether • Through the gates of nevermore • Look just beyond the pale • The truth is there to see for one and all • The answers that you seek • Lie just beyond his open door
The bells will ring • Virtue extolled • Behold, destiny, thy guidance • Master of dominion, he’s the shadow on the wall • His arms are always open • He’s the name we leave unspoken • He’s the king of nevermore • The harbinger of all • Dark matters • In death we all sing the hymns of nevermore • Nevermore • The promise, the constant • The requiem for every soul • Polaris inside us • We sing the hymns of nevermore • The harbinger of all • Dark matters.

LYRICS:
One last time

An old design aimed to sort the immune from those
Born into ivory and gold mined by the rest
An iron war, diamond campaign
The lungs of men in their dying machine

Ghosts
Empty the reserves
And premeditate
Ground these bones into dust

Slowly morphing, I distort
In higher suffering, we are born
Wraiths of land and beasts of sea
Tower over their adversaries

The rest is easy, cut the cord
God abandons and so will your elders
I can’t shut my eyes, I can’t ask them why
Or put a bullet in between their eyes

Ground these bones into dust

An eyeless dog in the desert we roam
I, of infidel, pray when I’m told
We’re serving those whose mouth never foams
We’ll die for nothing, drilling for fool’s gold

Ghosts
Empty the reserves
And premeditate
Ground these bones into dust

Slowly morphing, I distort
In higher suffering, we are born
Wraiths of land and beasts of sea
Tower over their adversaries

The rest is easy, cut the cord
God abandons and so will your elders
I can’t shut my eyes, I can’t ask them why
Or put a bullet in between my eyes

I put a bullet in between their eyes
I put a bullet in between my eyes

Slowly morphing, I distort

So put a bullet in between my eyes

Lyrics:
I am not a woman, I’m a god
I am not a martyr, I’m a problem
I am not a legend, I’m a fraud
keep your heart, cause I already

Everyday I’ve got a smile where my frown goes
a couple bodies in the garden where the grass grows
I take em with me to the grave in a suitcase
maybe I could be a different human in a new place

oh
I just wanna feel something, tell me where to go
Cause everybody knows something I don’t wanna know
So I’ll stay right here cause I’m better all alone
I’m better all alone

I am not a woman, I’m a god
I am not a martyr, I’m a problem
I am not a legend, I’m a fraud
keep your heart, cause I already got one

I am not a woman, I’m a god
I am not a martyr, I’m a problem
I am not a legend, I’m a fraud
keep your heart, cause I already

Every morning, got a hollow where my heart goes.
I never listen but I see it with my eyes closed
I know you, I remember from the grass stain
maybe I could be a better human with a new name

oh
I just wanna feel something, tell me where to go
Cause everybody knows something I don’t wanna know
So I’ll stay right here cause I’m better all alone
Yeah, I’m better all alone

I am not a woman, I’m a god
I am not a martyr, I’m a problem
I am not a legend, I’m a fraud
keep your heart, cause I already got one

I am not a woman, I’m a god
I am not a martyr, I’m a problem
I am not a legend, I’m a fraud
keep your heart, cause I already

I’m ready to leave it
I’ll go when I feel it
Got caught both hands on the smoking gun
I try but I need it
It’s hard but I feel it
And it really does hurt when you love someone

So keep your heart, cause I already got one

I am not a woman, I’m a god
I am not a martyr, I’m a problem
I am not a legend, I’m a fraud
So keep your heart, cause I already got one

Lyrics:
Everything's been so messed up here lately
Pretty sure he don't wanna be my baby
Oh, he don't love me, he don't love me
He don't love me, he don't love me, but that's okay
'Cause I love me, yeah, I love me
Yeah, I love me, yeah, I love myself anyway, hey

Everything's gonna be alright
Everything's gonna be okay
It's gonna be a good, good life
That's what my therapists say
Everything's gonna be alright
Everything's gonna be just fine
It's gonna be a good, good life

I'm a mess, I'm a loser
I'm a hater, I'm a user
I'm a mess for your love, it ain't new
I'm obsessed, I'm embarrassed
I don't trust no one around us
I'm a mess for your love, it ain't new

Nobody shows up unless I'm paying
Have a drink on me, cheers to the failing
Oh, he don't love me, he don't love me
He don't love me, he don't love me, but that's okay
'Cause I love me, yeah, I love me
Yeah, I love me, yeah, I love myself anyway, hey

Everything's gonna be alright
Everything's gonna be okay
It's gonna be a good, good life
That's what my therapists say
Everything's gonna be alright
Everything's gonna be just fine
It's gonna be a good, good life

►”Cake By The Ocean" Lyrics

Nah, nah, yeah
(Cake by the ocean)

Oh, no
See you walkin' 'round like it's a funeral
Not so serious, girl, why those feet cold?
We just gettin' started, don't you tiptoe, tiptoe (ah)

Waste time with a masterpiece, don't waste time with a masterpiece (huh)
You should be rollin' with me, you should be rollin' with me (ah-ah-ah)
You're a real-life fantasy, you're a real-life fantasy (huh)
But you're movin' so carefully, let's start livin' dangerously

Talk to me, baby
I'm goin' blind from this sweet-sweet cravin', whoa-oh
Let's lose our minds and go fuckin' crazy
I-I-I-I-I-I keep on hopin' we'll eat cake by the ocean (uh)
Walk for me, baby
I'll be Diddy, you'll be Naomi, whoa-oh
Let's lose our minds and go fuckin' crazy
I-I-I-I-I-I keep on hopin' we'll eat cake by the ocean (uh)

Goddamn
See you lickin' frostin' from your own hands
Want another taste, I'm beggin', "Yes, ma'am"
I'm tired of all this candy on the dry land, dry land, ooh

Waste time with a masterpiece, don't waste time with a masterpiece (huh)
You should be rollin' with me, you should be rollin' with me (ah-ah-ah)
You're a real-life fantasy, you're a real-life fantasy (huh)
But you're movin' so carefully, let's start livin' dangerously (whoa-oh)

Talk to me, baby
I'm goin' blind from this sweet-sweet cravin', whoa-oh
Let's lose our minds and go fuckin' crazy (ah)
I-I-I-I-I-I keep on hopin' we'll eat cake by the ocean (uh)
Walk for me, baby (walk for me now)
I'll be Diddy, you'll be Naomi, whoa-oh
Let's lose our minds and go fuckin' crazy
I-I-I-I-I-I keep on hopin' we'll eat cake by the ocean

Ooh, ah-ah
I-I-I-I-I-I keep on hopin' we'll eat cake by the ocean (uh)
Ooh, ah-ah
I-I-I-I-I-I keep on hopin' we'll eat cake by the ocean (uh)

Hey, you're fuckin' delicious
Talk to me, girl

Talk to me, baby (talk to me, baby)
I'm goin' blind from this sweet-sweet cravin', whoa-oh
Let's lose our minds and go fuckin' crazy
I-I-I-I-I-I keep on hopin' we'll eat cake by the ocean (hey) (uh)
Walk for me, baby (walk for me now)
I'll be Diddy, you'll be Naomi, whoa-oh
Let's lose our minds and go (and go what?), fuckin' crazy (that's right)
I-I-I-I-I-I keep on hopin' (I'm ready), we'll eat cake by the ocean (ah, yeah)

Red velvet, vanilla, chocolate in my life
Funfetti, I'm ready, I need it every night
Red velvet, vanilla, chocolate in my life
I-I-I-I-I-I keep on hopin' we'll eat cake by the ocean (uh)

Like I was Shula in king of diamonds like I’m a jeweler
Hallelujah
From Hollygrove to Honolulu (Hallelujah)
Me Shabba Buju, the holy ghost will probably spook you
It’s kinda coo coo, it’s New Orleans a lot of voodoo (Hallelujah)
Pour holy water in my codeine sippin’ like yoo hoo
Goodness gracious I look at faces they look like satans (Heaven)
They look like hatred, I look no different it’s just the matrix
Them gold bullets come out the pistol they look like Dathan (Heaven say hallelujah)
Is this the pearly gates or the cages incarceration (Hallelujah)
My congregation no operate like a corporation (Hallelujah)
I want my flowers and flower vases I want carnations
I want begonias I want petunias and flower groomers (Hallelujah)
Cause I’m a god so when you see me say Hallelujah
Lalalalalalalala

Lalalalalalalala
I’m a god so when you see me say hallelujah
Lalalalalalalala
Hallelujah
Lalalalalalalala
I’m a god so when you see me say hallelujah
Lalalalalalalala
Lalalalalalalala
All praises to the most high
Savior Devine
With many great men you have blessed mankind
Many worked hard, others they destroyed
Many were martyred for the good works tortured
But the saints kept marching on
We know that the Earth is the Lord and the fullness thereof
The world and they that dwell there in
We know there are so many kingdoms but let me tell you only one king of kings
Glory to jah in the highest children let’s praise him
Repel all evil and sin
Hallelujah (aye)
Hallelujah (aye)
Hallelujah
Shabba!
God give mi di strength, mi give him di glory
Shouting hallelujah
Glory glory to the father shouting hallelujah
God give mi di strength, mi give him di glory
Shouting hallelujah
Glory glory to the father shouting hallelujah
Now the devil is a beast, unleash distress no peace
Among wicked he leave destruction, death and grief
So contrary to whatever the pagan believe
God ago break dem horn and pop out dem teeth
Before they take our life and drink blood at their feast
Mek dem know the righteous is elite (shabba)
None can treat us, just like the least
If you touch what the lord anoint
Outta life you be delete
My soul is well and my life complete
God almighty keep me outta dem reach
Pagan a fight a battle, a you must get defeats
Wickedness ina darkness, mi know god see it
Hypocritical yo god nah sleep
I am a son of god, listen when I speak
Righteousness I seek, his precept I keep
God nah slumber, God nah sleep
God give mi di strength, mi give him di glory
Shouting hallelujah

1989 Young MC Interview on The Arsenio Hall Show
Young MC (born Marvin Young) was interviewed by Arsenio Hall on October 3, 1989' During the interview, Young MC discussed his writing of the hit rap songs 'Funky Cold Medina' & 'Wild Thing', songs which were ultimately recorded and released as singles by Tone Loc. Arsenio asked Young MC why did he give away hit songs like 'Wild Thing' (and Funky Cold Medina) to Tone Loc to record instead of just recording and releasing the song for himself as his own single. Arsenio also asked Young MC exactly what is a 'Funky Cold Medina', and Young explained. Young also discusses his new rap song 'Bust a Move' and explains what it means to "bust a move". He then performed the single, but unfortunately, due to copyright reasons, the audio had to be muted for this YouTube video...but the interview is all there.

Listen to the single "MISS BIG BRUH". Out now!

August 1, 2016 by BOB BOILEN • The music of Kevin Morby is fairly straightforward and acoustic for the most part, with traditional, folk-based rock at its core. The mystery and intensity lies in the lyrics. His biting song "I Have Been To The Mountain," performed here at the Tiny Desk and on his 2016 album Singing Saw, was inspired by the 2014 chokehold death of Eric Garner at the hands of a New York City police officer.

That man lived in this town
Till that pig took him down
And have you heard the sound
Of a man stop breathing, pleading?

In this set, Meg Duffy's guitar provides a strong example of the care and craft that goes into these songs — and there's even more of that on Singing Saw, the album that finally hooked me on Morby's music even after good records he'd made with the bands Woods and The Babies, as well as two other solo albums. If you're a latecomer like me, dig in here. If you're already a convert, you'll likely love the clarity of these songs and their stark arrangements.

The wait is over, Jay Z protege' rapper Tru Life finally gets to address all rumors, and most importantly share his incarceration experience in prison, when he was at the peak of his career.

One night in 2022, Destinee Govan, better known by her stage name as Lotta Cash Desto, was driving to a club with her friend. Sadly, this was the last time she would ever be seen alive, for that same night, she would be hunted down and assassinated in cold blood by two gunmen.

It was the night of September 24th, 2022, and Memphis rapper Lotta Cash Desto was driving from the Spire night club to another night club in Houston, Texas, where the rapper was living at the time.
