Kurzbeschreibung
Nicht nur die Big Bands haben eine lange Tradition, auch das Singen mit den Big Bands. Ob es die alten Stars sind, wie Sinatra oder Ella, oder die aktuellen wie Michael Bublé, Jamie Cullum oder der viel zu früh verstorbene Roger Cicero, nahezu jeder Künstler empfindet es als Highlight seines Künstlerlebens, mit der ungeheuren Kraft und Agilität einer Big Band im Rücken auf der Bühne zu stehen und sich von deren Sound tragen zu lassen.

Dieser Konzertabend steht unter dem Motto des „Big Band Singing" und die Thilo Wolf Big Band empfängt eine illustre Reihe an Solisten. VOX 5 ist eine fünfstimmige Vocal Group aus Künstlern der Metropolregion Nürnberg, die besonders zu Corona-Zeiten mit eindrucksvollen A-cappella-Videos Aufsehen erregt hat und nun zum ersten Mal mit ganz neuen Arrangements vor einer Big Band steht.

Die „Swing Sisters" aus dem Nordwesten der Republik sind die Entdeckung im Musical „The Famous Door On Swing Street", das der amerikanische Entertainer, Regisseur und Choreograf Gaines Hall erfolgreich im vergangen Herbst am Fürther Theater inszeniert hat. Umso schöner, dass er selbst auch zu den Solisten dieses Abends gehört und als Sänger wie auch als Steptänzer zu hören sein wird.

Und dann gibt es noch einen ganz besonderen Gast aus Berlin: Claudia Herr. Die Sopranistin und Vertreterin zeitgenössischer Musik, die gerne auch mal mit Walen im Ozean singt, wird eine ganz eigene Farbe in diesen Abend bringen. Und ihre erste Begegnung mit einer Jazz-Big-Band wird dabei besonders spannend sein, zumal Erfolgsautor Thomas Pigor für sie eine besondere Uraufführung zum "Super-Wa(h)l-Jahr schrieb.

April 30th is International Jazz Day and we are highlighting another of the Airmen of Note's special collaboration with American jazz trombone virtuoso, composer and arranger, Wycliffe Gordon!

Mr. Gordon is a prolific recording artist and is extremely popular for his unmatched signature sound, plunger technique and unique vocals. The Airmen of Note recorded some of Mr. Gordon's fast moving charts for our fourth video in the 2022 Jazz Heritage Series.

In November 2011, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) officially designated April 30th as International Jazz Day in order to highlight jazz and its diplomatic role of uniting people in all corners of the globe. Using music to connect with people is precisely one of the three pillars of The United States Air Force Band's mission.

Gedurende deze 17 jaar muziekgeschiedenis zijn er opnames gemaakt met talloze internationale sterren, zoals Paul McCartney, David Bowie, Tina Turner, Janet Jackson, Stevie Wonder, The Rolling Stones, George Harrison, U2, The Police, Eric Clapton, Bruce Springsteen, Lenny Kravitz, Depeche Mode, New Order, Whitney Houston, Duran Duran, R.E.M., Frankie Goes To Hollywood, The Cure, Run DMC, Cyndi Lauper, Iron Maiden, New Kids On The Block, LL Cool J.

Uiteraard kwamen Nederlandse top-acts als Doe Maar, Andre Hazes, Herman Brood, Frank Boeijen, Spargo, Golden Earring, Time Bandits, De Dijk, De Raggende Manne, Hans de Booij, Gerard Joling, Drukwerk ook langs voor een optreden in Bussum.

Countdown werd gepresenteerd door oa Lex Harding, Erik de Zwart, Adam Curry, Simone Walraven Wessel van Diepen, Jeroen van Inkel, Rob Stenders, Simone Angel en Jasper Faber.

Moondance is the third studio album by Northern Irish singer-songwriter Van Morrison. It was released on 27 January 1970 by Warner Bros. Records. After the commercial failure of his first Warner Bros. album Astral Weeks (1968), Morrison moved to upstate New York with his wife and began writing songs for Moondance. There, he met the musicians that would record the album with him at New York City's A & R Studios in August and September 1969.

The album found Morrison abandoning the abstract folk jazz compositions of Astral Weeks in favour of more formally composed songs, which he wrote and produced entirely himself. Its lively rhythm and blues/rock music was the style he would become most known for in his career. The music incorporated soul, jazz, pop, and Irish folk sounds into songs about finding spiritual renewal and redemption in worldly matters such as nature, music, romantic love, and self-affirmation.

Moondance was an immediate critical and commercial success. It helped establish Morrison as a major artist in popular music, while several of its songs became staples on FM radio in the early 1970s. Among the most acclaimed records in history, Moondance frequently ranks in professional listings of the greatest albums. In 2013, the album's remastered deluxe edition was released to similar acclaim.
