Sharing my perspective on the Akai MPC platform versus the Roland SP404mk2. I have way more experience with the MPC, but I've owned the SP404mk2 since it came out. I'm hoping this video will help people that are contemplating the two different devices with little to none to experience with either of them.

On 18th July 1996, two days after he had performed a full birthday concert for the Sultan in Brunei, Michael Jackson came to South Afrika. Michael landed in Johannesburg, attended the 78th birthday celebration of back then South African president Nelson Mandela and later laid a wreath at a memorial in the black township of Soweto. On 19th July, Michael gave a speech in Sun City to announce the South African dates of the HIStory Tour in 1997. Before he left the country on 20th July 1996, Michael gave a short press conference together with Nelson Mandela in Pretoria.

A bit more complete transcript of Michael's speech in Sun City (thanks to @deserveMjj at Facebook):
Michael Jackson: "We are behaving like people without compassion and love for the most vulnerable section of society. The children of the universe are without a spokesperson, they are voiceless. We are all touched by the atrocities committed against children: sexual, physical abuse, child slave labor, educational neglect. We feel ashamed, Angry, Appalled. But there is no action No action.", Michael declares. At the press conference also, he gives an emotional discourse to the people of South Africa: “First, I would like to say, sincerely, from the bottom of my heart, you have no idea how happy and honored I am to be here in South Africa. The people here have been so kind to me their love, their generosity, the hospitality has been overwhelming. I mean, I’m saying this from the bottom of my heart, ‘cause I really mean it. And I’m not wearing these glasses to be Mr. Cool, I wear these glasses because they are a facade, so you won’t have to see my tears ... [voice choking with emotions] ... I’m so happy to be here and you all have been so wonderful to me and I want to thank you so much and I thank you for coming to Sun City. I would like to take this opportunity to thank president Nelson Mandela and the wonderful people of South Africa for this gracious, really gracious welcome to your wonderful country. I just love it. I love it so much, I’m looking for a house to buy here [laughs]… I would like to thank the wonderful wonderful (inaudible) and the staff and its hospitality and hosting this conference. And I’m sorry I was not able to play South Africa dates previously, because I was so much looking forward to coming here. But now I am really excited about bringing the HIStory Tour – a brand new show, the HIStory Tour to South Africa. We are in negotiations right now, with promoters now and, but we’re playing South Africa in mid January 1997, in Capetown, in Durban and Johannesburg. My promoter, Mr. Marcel Avram is here today to announce additional dates and answer any questions you may have regarding the HIStory World Tour. I love you from the bottom of my heart and I thank you so much for your wonderful wonderful opportunity. Thank you.”

LYRICS
Pain is easier to remember
Struck dead
Struck dead from within
Struck fucking dead
Pain is easier to remember

I must descend again
I fanned the flames and now they’re fed
I need to fall from grace
And suffer like I do

This calming blackness creeps below
It pulls me down and won’t let go
Why must I fall again
And suffer like I do

Pain is easier to remember
Struck dead
Struck dead from within
Struck fucking dead
Pain is easier to remember

I must descend again
I fanned the flames and now they’re fed
I need to fall from grace
And suffer like I do

This calming blackness creeps below
It pulls me down and won’t let go
Why must I fall again
And suffer like I do

Pain is easier to remember

The wings I’ve grown have atrophied
The vultures have picked my bones clean
This hungry pack of anxieties
Salivates and chews

Back into the nothingness
Swallowed by my fears

FUCK

Back into the nothingness
Swallowed by my fears

Back into the nothingness
Swallowed by my fears

I must descend again
I fanned the flames and now they’re fed
I need to fall from grace
And suffer like I do

Suffer like I do
Suffer like I do
I need to fall from grace
And suffer like I do

This calming blackness creeps below
It pulls me down and won’t let go
Why must I fall again
And suffer like I do

Suffer like I do
Suffer like I do
Why must I fall again
And suffer like I do

Pain is easier to remember
Struck dead
Struck dead from within
Struck fucking dead
Struck fucking dead

Lyrics:
Don’t remind me
I’m minding my own damn business
Don’t try to find me
I’m better left alone than in this
It doesn’t surprise me
Do you really think that I could care
If you really don’t like me
Find somebody else
It could be anyone else out there

Don’t fret
I don’t ever want to see you
And I never want to meet you again
One thing
When you’re angry you’re a jerk
And then you treat me like I’m worth nothing
Don’t fret
I don’t ever want to see you
And I never want to meet you again
It’ll happen again
I watch it happen over and over again

Don’t fret
I don’t ever want to see you
And I never want to meet you again
One thing
When you’re angry you’re a jerk
And then you treat me like I’m worth nothing

Don’t remind me
I’m minding my own damn business
Don’t try to find me
I’m better left alone than in this
It doesn’t surprise me
Do you really think that I could care
If you really don’t like me
Find somebody else

Don’t fret
I don’t ever want to see you
And I never want to meet you again
One thing
When you’re angry you’re a jerk
And then you treat me like I’m worth nothing
Don’t fret
I don’t ever want to see you
And I never want to meet you again
It’ll happen again
I watch it happen over and over again

Don’t fret
I don’t ever want to see you
And I never want to meet you again

When you’re angry you’re a jerk
And then you treat me like I’m worth nothing

Video by Jayla Smith

Lyrics:

After we say goodnight
l smoke another twenty cigarettes
Before I close my eyes
If I’m up past midnight
Might have a chance to say, ‘good morning’
Right before I cut the light
When I wake up at dawn
I reach across the void, just hoping
We can share a moment’s time
And then the evening’s mine
And I can finally say ‘I love you’
Right before I say ‘goodnight’

——————

Oh why oh why
Do i even try?

——————

When I don’t wanna say goodnight
And every day without you
Feels one closer to goodbye
I just need to make this world seem right
You just sleep tight, til I’m on your side
Know you need to go to sleep
There’s comfort knowing that at least you can escape this heat
I’ll sit up and watch, this world burn bright
I’ll be alright
When you’re on my time

——————

They didn’t change the date
That’s another month to wait
Another month to try
To hold onto a lie

——————

Oh why oh why
Do I even try?
Every other girl
We’d just cut the line

——————

But I don’t wanna say goodnight
Cuz every day without you
Feels one closer to goodbye
I just need to make this world seem right
You can sleep tight, til I’m on your side
When you finally go to sleep
There’s comfort knowing that, at least
You can escape this heat
I’ll sit up and watch, this world’s on fire
But I’ll be alright
When you’re on my time

——————

When you’re on my time
When you’re on my time
You’re on my time
You’re on my time
I’ll be alright
When you’re on my time
