What Happened To Da Brat? | First Platinum Solo Female Rapper, Prison, Was Her Sexuality a Secret? Hotney 4 Vues • 3 années depuis

Da Brat, born Shawntae Harris in Chicago, Illinois, was raised primarily on the west side of the city. She went back and forth between two different households since her parents never married. She’s also the paternal half-sister of actress LisaRaye McCoy. Her main introduction to music happened in the Apostolic Pentecostal church she attended several times a week while growing up. She sang in the choir and played the piano and drums. She began rapping at the age of 11 and also learned to play several different instruments at school. Brat’s big break came in 1992 when she won the grand prize in an amateur rap contest held in Chicago and sponsored by the tv music video program Yo! MTV Raps. So, what did she win? The chance to meet the teenage rap duo Kris Kross. But, things didn’t end there. They told her they were going to tell their producer about her. That producer was none other than Jermaine Dupri. Eventually, Brat and Jermaine would meet, at a taping of the Oprah Winfrey show no less, and he would invite her to come to Atlanta. Soon after, he signed her to his So So Def label.

What Happened To Vybz Kartel? | His Mark on Dancehall, Controversies & His 35 Year Prison Senten Hotney 4 Vues • 3 années depuis

Vybz Kartel is said to be responsible for much of the modern look and sound of dancehall music. He achieved great success on the charts in his homeland, created a loyal fan base and weathered the storm dealing with some major controversial moments. Even though he had a difficult time breaking into markets outside of the Caribbean, his influence still managed to capture the attention of many international stars he’s since had the opportunity to work with such as Busta Rhymes, Rihanna and Missy Elliot. Everything would come to a grinding halt however, when he found himself arrested, charged and eventually convicted of a heinous crime he’d pay dearly for with multiple decades of his life behind bars.

Donna Summer | The Life & Death of The Queen of Disco Hotney 4 Vues • 3 années depuis

American singer, songwriter and actress Donna Adrian Gaines, known professionally as Donna Summer, was born on December 31, 1948 in Boston, Massachusetts. At the age of 8, since she wasn’t old enough to join the choir, she got the opportunity to sing a solo one day. Some people started laughing when they saw her up at the front but, their jaws dropped immediately the minute the first note escaped her mouth. Donna admitted even she was shocked by her own talent. She also recounts that God spoke to her, telling her she was going to be famous.

What Happened To Macy Gray? | Insecurities, Drug Use & THAT Dress Hotney 4 Vues • 3 années depuis

Her signature voice not only set her apart from her peers in the music industry but, made her one of those artists that you could automatically identify the moment she opened her mouth. It took her a long time to get her career off the ground but, when she finally did she was off and running. However, just as quickly as she shot to the top of the charts, she came crashing back down. Consequently, the combination of dealing with a failing career and numerous person issues sent her to the lowest place she’d ever been in her life.

Dr. Dre's CRAZY Love Life | 9 Children, 5 Baby Mamas, 1 Wife & 1 Expensive Divorce Hotney 4 Vues • 3 années depuis

American rapper, songwriter, audio engineer, record producer and entrepreneur Andre Romelle Young, better known as Dr. Dre, was born in Compton, California. His first taste of the limelight came as a member of electro hip hop group World Class Wreckin' Cru during the 80’s. He would find even greater fame several years later as a member of hip hop group N.W.A. The group would release two albums before Dre decided to strike out on his own. He released his solo debut studio album titled The Chronic in 1992 on Death Row Records, a label he co-founded and co-owned. Several years after that, he left Death Row to start his own label, Aftermath Entertainment and would go on to sign several future superstars in the hip hop genre such as Eminem and 50 Cent. Even though Dre’s been hard at work since his teens building his empire, he was never too busy for the ladies.
