Was FIELD MOB Blackballed By LUDACRIS? Here's Why Their Growth Was Stunted Hotney 3 المشاهدات • منذ 3 سنوات

One of the most difficult realities that’s hard to accept as a good artist is not being properly compensated for their creation. Whether monetarily, or in the form of praise that leads to accolades. Today’s feature knows that all too well. As far as being good artist, Shawn J and Smoke of Field Mob were more than that. The Grammy nominated group were on fire in the early 2000s with their creative, witty, fun, but real way of displaying their music, known for touching on real topics like slavery and inequality. They had songs about love like every other male artist, but theirs gave a different and interesting perspective, like how does the woman feel about you out all night and not paying attention to her after the relationship get stale and comfortable. Or how does your lady feel having to hear the people whisper around her about all the negative things connected to your name. They were aware of how country people were looked at and made fun of for sounding a certain way, or eating this or that off animals considered unclean, or the way they dressed and danced. They took that and made themselves the mascot for it, proud of the field they came from and showed it. Two talented individuals from a small town that made classic records in their era, just couldn’t survive the hurdles they had to get over, and by 2006 they were gone as we knew them when they first began to create their buzz in 99-00. It’s not often you see a rap group from the south, go to a New York based record label and put out a single and it become a top 20 billboard hit, an album that goes gold and become their biggest album to date, and be nominated for one of the biggest awards you can get as an entertainer. A Grammy. What is often is we see too many rappers or rap groups complain about being unfairly compensated for their work from a label, that leads two you never hearing for those artist again. It’s a travesty we didn’t get more field mob in the early 2000s, and even today, where their lyrical prowess and melodic sound could still be relevant today had Ludacris not apparently Blackball them. The Police: Regatta De Blanc | Music Documentary | Henry Padovani | Chris Welch | Hugh Fielder Hotney 3 المشاهدات • منذ 4 سنوات

This unique critical review of a classic pop album features superb performance footage from their sensational 1980 Rockpalast-Nacht show in Germany. It also includes an all-new interview with original guitarist Henry Padovani, in which he gives a candid appraisal of the album and the band.

Reggatta de Blanc is the second studio album by British rock band the Police, released on 2 October 1979 by A&M Records. It was the band's first release to top the UK Albums Chart and features their first two UK number-one singles: "Message in a Bottle" and "Walking on the Moon". In early 1980, the album was reissued in the United States on two 10" discs, one album side per disc, and as a collector's edition with a poster of the band.

The music features the Police's distinctive appropriation of reggae and frontman Sting's Caribbean vocal inflections. The album's title loosely translates in French to "White Reggae". It was the band's second album to bear a Franglais title, after their 1978 debut album Outlandos d'Amour. Reggatta de Blanc proved more popular and successful than its predecessor. The title track earned the band its first Grammy Award for Best Rock Instrumental Performance.

Reggatta de Blanc continued to build on the success of Outlandos d'Amour, hitting number one on the British, Australian, and Dutch album charts upon its release in October 1979. "Message in a Bottle" and "Walking on the Moon" were released as singles and both reached number one in the UK, the band's first singles to do so. According to rock journalist Tim Peacock, with its success, the album transformed the Police "into one of the post-punk era's defining bands".

The album was met with positive reviews from magazines such as Smash Hits, People, and Rolling Stone. Writing for the latter in December 1979, Debra Rae Cohen said that objections to the band's stylistic appropriations of new wave and reggae are "rendered moot by the sheer energy of the band's rhythmic counter-punching". In The Village Voice's year-end Pazz & Jop poll of American critics nationwide, Reggatta de Blanc was voted the 35th best album of 1979. Robert Christgau, the poll's creator and the Voice's chief critic, was lukewarm about the album in Christgau's Record Guide: Rock Albums of the Seventies (1981): "The idea is to fuse Sting's ringing rock voice and the trio's aggressive, hard-edged rock attack with a less eccentric version of reggae's groove and a saner version of reggae's mix. To me the result sounds half-assed. And though I suppose I might find the 'synthesis' innovative if I heard as much reggae as they do in England, it's more likely I'd find it infuriating." In 1981, the album's title track earned the band a Grammy Award for Best Rock Instrumental Performance. In a retrospective review for AllMusic, Greg Prato said that the band's intense touring schedule leading up to the album had made their unique reggae rock fusion sharper, leading to a work that was "much more polished production-wise and fully developed from a songwriting standpoint", but also "more sedate" than their first album.

Reggatta de Blanc has appeared frequently on professional listings of the greatest albums. In 2003, Rolling Stone ranked the record at number 369 on its list of the 500 greatest albums of all time; on an updated version of the list published in 2012, it placed at number 372. In 2006, it was included in the book 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die. In 2014, Spin cited it as one of the major moments in the history of white reggae. Based on such rankings, the aggregate website Acclaimed Music lists Reggatta de Blanc as the 418th-most acclaimed album in history. In an interview with Modern Drummer, Stewart Copeland named it his favorite Police album.

The Darkchild instinctively knows how to showcase the best attributes of each artist that he works with. CEO of his Darkchild Productions, Inc., Jerkins has been responsible, through his numerous hit productions, for over 170 million in record sales worldwide.

Born the youngest son of a minister father and choir director mother in Pleasantville, New Jersey in 1977, Jerkins began taking classical piano lessons as a child and combined that with the gospel music that he heard in church. Rodney's God‐given gifts quickly blossomed, as the young phenomenon diligently worked on his music and began recording demos for local talent. When New Jack Swing's Teddy Riley came across one of those early demos and opened the first door, Rodney's career took off like a rocket. Subsequently, his first professional writing and producing job came in 1994, for an artist named Casserine and at the tender age of 15, he and his brother, Fred Jerkins III, wrote and produced his gospel rap album, "On The Move." Since that time and continuously into present day, the Jerkins discography reads like a Who's Who of Hit Music.

In 1997, Jerkins continued his ascent to legend status by working with Mary J. Blige; he co‐wrote, arranged and produced five songs for her four‐time platinum CD, "Share My World," including the hit single "I Can Love You." That year, Billboard magazine touted him as one of the hottest R&B producers in the country, and again bestowed that moniker on him in 1999. He re‐teamed with Blige in 2006, with his production of her huge hit, "Enough Cryin," from her record‐setting CD, "The Breakthrough."

Rodney's 2006 production of Beyoncé’s Number One smash "Deja Vu," dominated the airwaves and garnered him another Grammy nod in the process. A testament to its greatness and his genius, the perennial, memorable tune was highlighted during Beyoncé’s 2008 Grammy Awards telecast performance.

Happily married to Lifestyle Music artist, Joy Enriquez, Rodney is also the father of four children, Rodney David Jerkins III, Heavenly Joy, Hannah Joy and Royal David Jerkins in Los Angeles. Jerkins also produced her latest Contemporary Christian album and debut of his Christian label, Lifestyle Music, titled “The Call” in partnership with Capitol Christian. He says "this is what the world needs right now, and we are happy to be the ones that God is using to deliver it."

A devout Christian with strong moral values, Rodney has not forgotten his roots in the church, nor does he compromise in order to conform to today's music landscape; instead, he consistently uses his myriad talents to shape groundbreaking music on his own terms.

Recently, Rodney has completed work on Rihanna, Ariana Grande, Jessi J, Justin Bieber, Ciara, Keyshia Cole, Alicia Keys, and Sam Smith.
