Mystery Train - Junior Parker Hotney 11 Ansichten • 3 Jahre vor

Little Junior Parker, one of the most prominent blues singers of the 1950s and 60s, was born at Eastover Plantation near Bobo, Coahoma County, Mississippi in 1932. Parker died on Blue Island, Illinois, in 1971. Despite his later fame, he still there is some confusion about the details of Little Junior Parker's kinship and birth (Clarksdale, Mississippi and 1932 are sometimes cited, and his parents' names were cited in various ways as Herman Snr., Willie, Jeanetta or Jeremeter). Admittedly, they were a family of farmers located close enough to West Memphis for Little Junior (who started singing at the church) to get involved in the local music scene from an early age. As a young man, Parker moved with his mother to West Memphis and recorded his first hit, "Feelin 'Good", for Sun Records in Memphis in 1953. In addition to his soft velvety vocals in reverse, Junior Parker was a product of the fertile circuit of postwar Memphis blues, whose wonderfully low-key harp style was personally guided by none other than regional icon Sonny Boy Williamson. He always used Herman Parker Jr. as his legal name, but on his Mississippi birth certificate his name was inserted as Herbert Parker. He was elected to the Blues Hall of Fame in 2001. Junior Parker has already been rated with BB King, Bobby “Blue” Bland and Little Milton as the main blues stars on the African American “chitlin circuit”. He also had many white admirers, including Elvis Presley, who recorded Parker's "Mystery Train" for Sun Records. Parker's singing resonated with warmth and elegance, and he played the harmonica in an equally soft style. He started singing at Mount Moriah Baptist Church in Bobo and spent much of his childhood in his grandfather's twelve-bedroom house here. His main influence on the harmonica was Sonny Boy Williamson No. 2 (Rice Miller), whose radio broadcast “King Biscuit Time” from Helena, Arkansas, could be heard on Bobo. After Parker moved to West Memphis at age 12, he worked with Williamson and Howlin 'Wolf, as well as a circle of young artists, including Bobby Bland, Johnny Ace. Parker made his first records for the Modern and Sun labels, but had his greatest success during his 1953-1966 transition to Duke Records and its associate Buffalo Booking Agency in Houston, Texas. In late 1953, 'Mystery Train' recorded with his own group, the Blues Flames led by Little Junior. 'Mystery Train' was the sequel to 'Feelin' Good ', his debut at Sun, later that year, recorded a fiery "Love My Baby" and a relaxed "Mystery Train" for Sun, thus contributing to some future rockabilly standards to Sun's coffers (Hayden Thompson revived the former, Elvis Presley the latter). The song itself has its roots in an old folk song called 'Worried Man Blues' that the Carter family recorded in 1930, was recorded by Woody Guthrie in 1944 and by Lonnie Donegan in the 1950s. Music historian Colin Escott noted "One of mysteries about 'Mystery Train' is where the title came from; it was not mentioned anywhere in the song ". The song uses lyrics similar to those found in the traditional American folk music group Carter Family, "Worried Man Blues", itself based on an old Celtic ballad and its best-selling album from 1930. RCA Victor re-released "Mystery Train" in November 1955 , after purchasing it as part of a contract with Presley. This edition of the song reached the 11th position on the Billboard national chart. "Mystery Train" is now considered an "enduring classic". It was the first recording that made Elvis Presley a nationally known country music star. In his final days, Parker appeared on labels like Mercury Records, United Artists Records and Capitol Records, enjoying success on the intermittent charts with 'Driving Wheel' (1961), 'Annie Get Your Yo-Yo' (1962) and 'Man Or Mouse '(1966). His premature death in 1971 occurred while he was undergoing brain tumor surgery.
Little Junior Parker was an important figure in R&B development.
His mysterious train was the most comfortable ride ...!

The Beatles - When I'm Sixty Four (Official Video) Hotney 11 Ansichten • 3 Jahre vor

"When I'm Sixty-Four" is a song by the English rock band The Beatles, written by Paul McCartney (credited to Lennon–McCartney) and released on their 1967 album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. McCartney wrote the song when he was about 14, probably in April or May 1956, and it was one of the first songs he ever wrote. The song was recorded in a key different from the final recording; it was sped up at the request of McCartney to make his voice sound younger. It prominently features a trio of clarinets (two regular clarinets and one bass clarinet) throughout.

Recording:
The Beatles recorded two takes of the song on 6 December 1966, during one of the first sessions for the as-yet-unnamed album that became Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. Martin produced, supported by engineers Geoff Emerick and Phil McDonald. McCartney overdubbed his lead vocal onto take two without the other Beatles present on 8 December. On 20 December, McCartney, Lennon and George Harrison overdubbed backing vocals and Ringo Starr added the sound of bells.

Martin made two reduction mixes (takes three and four) with the latter best. On 21 December, session musicians Robert Burns, Henry MacKenzie and Frank Reidy overdubbed two clarinets and a bass clarinet onto take four. Emerick later explained, "The clarinets on that track became a very personal sound for me; I recorded them so far forward that they became one of the main focal points." Martin recalled, "I remember recording it in the cavernous Number One studio at Abbey Road and thinking how the three clarinet players looked as lost as a referee and two linesmen alone in the middle of Wembley Stadium." On the same day, Martin remixed the song for mono three times, although this was only a demo version. He made four new mono mixes on 29 December.

On 30 December, unsatisfied with all of these attempts, McCartney suggested speeding up the track to raise it by around a semitone from its original key of C major to D♭ major. Martin remembers that McCartney suggested this change to make his voice sound younger. McCartney says, "I wanted to appear younger, but that was just to make it more rooty-tooty; just lift the key because it was starting to sound turgid." Martin, Emerick and Richard Lush made the sped-up remix from take four on 17 April 1967. Musicologist Michael Hannan comments on the completed track: "The rich timbres of the clarinets give the mix a fuller, fatter sound than many of the other tracks on the album."

Release:
The song was nearly released on a single as the B-side of either "Strawberry Fields Forever" or "Penny Lane". It was instead held over to be included as an album track for Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. Everett comments that the protagonist of "When I'm Sixty-Four" is sometimes associated with the Lonely Hearts Club Band concept, but in his opinion the song is thematically unconnected to others on the album.

According to author George Case, all of the songs on Sgt. Pepper were perceived by contemporary listeners as being drug-inspired, with 1967 marking the pinnacle of LSD's influence on pop music. Some fans viewed the lyric "digging the weeds" from "When I'm Sixty-Four" as a possible drug allusion. In August 1967, The Beatles Book published an article discussing whether the album was "too advanced for the average pop fan". One reader complained that all the songs except "Sgt. Pepper" and "When I'm Sixty-Four" were "over our heads", adding, "The Beatles ought to stop being so clever and give us tunes we can enjoy."

"When I'm Sixty-Four" was included in the Beatles' 1968 animated film Yellow Submarine. It was also used over the opening credits of the 1982 film The World According to Garp.

Giles Martin remixed the song for inclusion on the album's 50th anniversary release in 2017. Martin mixed the song from the original tapes rather than their subsequent mixdowns. Take 2 of the song was included as a bonus track on the deluxe edition.

Turning Japanese [Official video] - The Vapors (HD/HQ) Hotney 11 Ansichten • 3 Jahre vor

Turning Japanese, 80's hit by David Fenton (The Vapors band), official music video (1980). Full video restored, HQ audio.

No. 3 in the UK Singles Chart in 1980 and No. 36 in the US Billboard Hot 100.

℗ Razor & Tie Industries LLC. Distributed by Concord Music Group, Inc.

Lyrics:

I've got your picture
Of me and you
You wrote "I love you"
I wrote "Me too"
I sit there staring, and there's nothing else to do
Oh, it's in colour
Your hair is brown
Your eyes are hazel
And soft as clouds
I often kiss you when there's no one else around

I've got your picture, I've got your picture
I'd like a million of you, all 'round my cell
I want a doctor to take your picture
So I can look at you from inside as well
You've got me turning up and turning down
And turning in and turning 'round

I'm turning Japanese, I think I'm turning Japanese
I really think so
Turning Japanese, I think I'm turning Japanese
I really think so
I'm turning Japanese, I think I'm turning Japanese
I really think so
Turning Japanese, I think I'm turning Japanese
I really think so

I've got your picture, I've got your picture
I'd like a million of you, all 'round my cell
I want a doctor to take your picture
So I can look at you from inside as well
You've got me turning up and turning down
And turning in and turning 'round

I'm turning Japanese, I think I'm turning Japanese
I really think so
Turning Japanese, I think I'm turning Japanese
I really think so
I'm turning Japanese, I think I'm turning Japanese
I really think so
Turning Japanese, I think I'm turning Japanese
I really think so

No sex, no drugs, no wine, no women
No fun, no sin, no you, no wonder it's dark
Everyone around me is a total stranger
Everyone avoids me like a psyched Lone Ranger, everyone

That's why I'm turning Japanese, I think I'm turning Japanese
I really think so
Turning Japanese, I think I'm turning Japanese
I really think so
I'm turning Japanese, I think I'm turning Japanese
I really think so
Turning Japanese, I think I'm turning Japanese
I really think so

Turning Japanese, I think I'm turning Japanese
I really think so
Turning Japanese, I think I'm turning Japanese
I really think so (Think so, think so, think so)
I'm turning Japanese, I think I'm turning Japanese
I really think so
Turning Japanese, I think I'm turning Japanese
I really think so (Think so, think so, think so)

Lyrics:

Growing up in a prison is
Nothing different than the town I’m used to living in
It had me feeling like I’m someone insignificant
But now I know why I’m the one who wasn’t fitting in

I’m living in a land of broken hearts
Abandoned in a part
Of the planet that’s panicking and vanishing in the stars
Been damaged from the start
And stranded miles apart
From the break of dawn but I made it out of the dark
Now here we are, I’m fighting with nothing to lose now
Just a vision and ambitions of burning the room down
The walls are closing in and the voices are too loud
Everybody’s on a mission they getting the noose out

You can daydream, but you can’t erase or replace me
You’re crazy, to think you can relate to what made me
And lately, you been pushing me and it’s not safe
I won’t break cause I’m made from the Heartache

You’re never gonna break me
Down
Go ahead and hate me
Now
Cuz I came from a dark place, yeah
And I’m made from the Heartache
You’re never gonna make me
Drown
Never gonna change me
Now
Cuz I came from a dark place, yeah
I’m made from the Heartache

I’ve been to hell and back a thousand times
So if ya thinking that I’m quitting then you’re out your mind
And just forget it, I ain’t tripping somewhere down the line
And you’re the one without a vision still you’re doubting mine

Now I’m becoming your nightmare
You run and I’m right there
And suddenly your wondering if you’re gonna die here
You’re stuck in a timeshare
And breathing on my air
Welcome to the darkness where the demons don’t fight fair
Nothing compares to how
I’m planning to tear you down
Destroying your psyche until you question your whereabouts
I’m feeling I’m paramount
It’s scary how
I’ll spend a day in your shoes and I’m fucking wearin’ ‘em out

You can daydream, but you can’t erase or replace me
You’re crazy, to think you can relate to what made me
And lately, you been pushing me and it’s not safe
I won’t break cause I’m made from the Heartache

You’re never gonna break me
Down
Go ahead and hate me
Now
Cuz I came from a dark place, yeah
And I’m made from the Heartache
You’re never gonna make me
Drown
Never gonna change me
Now
Cuz I came from a dark place, yeah
I’m made from the Heartache

I put my heart in this
Born where the darkness lives

I’ve gone beyond the edge
Won’t stop until I’m dead

Cuz I came from a dark place, yeah
And I’m made from the Heartache…

You’re never gonna break me
Down
Go ahead and hate me
Now
Cuz I came from a dark place, yeah
And I’m made from the Heartache
You’re never gonna make me
Drown
Never gonna change me
Now
Cuz I came from a dark place, yeah
I’m made from the Heartache

I’m made from the Heartache
