24 horas con Myke Towers justo antes del lanzamiento de “La vida es una” | GQ España Hotney 7 Streams • 3 years ago

‘Playa del inglés’, la canción de Quevedo con Myke Towers, sigue ahora mismo en el Top 3 de las canciones más escuchadas en España. Cuenta Myke que estaba en un concierto y vio al cantante canario entre el público. “Yo lo conocía por la sesión con Bizarrap, claro, y quise hablar con él. Desde el primer momento él me abrió los ojos, quise hacer algo con él. Y cuando escuché esa canción dije ‘es esta”. La canción, sí, fue un éxito, Myke acertó.

Y justo cuando el artista lanza su nuevo disco, el cuarto ya, ‘La vida es una’, nos vamos con él para pasar un día entero en su Puerto Rico natal para darnos cuenta de que aquella visión con Quevedo no fue casual: Myke es un músico intuitivo que está siempre del lado de las cosas que funcionan. La vida es una es, según el propia cantante y letrista, “un nuevo nivel”, “música refrescante y necesaria”. 23 temas -seguramente ya has escuchado Ulala con Daddy Yankee- y un vídeo que se presenta junto al álbum y la canción ‘Mi droga’ (¡con base de guitarra!)

Pero ¿cómo es un día en la vida de Myke?. Empieza por el gimnasio, porque “lo necesito para afrontar los shows, romper noches, tener días ajetreados; veía entrenar solo para atletas, pero no”. Y también para poner la mente en blanco y enfocarse en trabajar. “Sabes, no quiero esperar a tener cierta edad para estar donde quiero, quiero tenerlo ya. Por eso me llamo Young Kingz”, cuenta a GQ España.

Después comida (“una lasaña bien hecha es mi favorita”), pensar en la posibilidad, por qué no, de vivir en España (“me encanta Barcelona, Madrid es como Nueva York, no te van a ver si quieres… pero estaría una temporada en Barcelona”), y sobre todo hablar y hacer música. “Quise escuchar los discos que pusieron el reggaeton en juego, la raíz, porque hacer un álbum es otra cosa, una pieza de colección”, nos cuenta hablando de su proceso de creación. “También la salsa es fundamental… siento que los salseros nos abrieron todas las puertas, me encantan sus letras, cómo cuentan lo que pasa pero de forma fina”.

Hay incluso tiempo para cortarse el pelo porque, nos revela, “el barbero es el que sabe todo, ahí está el filtro… en las barberías huelen la música” y para contarnos su mayor secreto musical: “por la mañana, la mente está fresca, la primera reacción es la que me vale para la música, si me gusta o no. Soy más nocturno, pero voy al estudio a ejecutar… mañana pensar y noche hacer. Y en menos de 20 minutos han salido las mejores canciones de mi colección”.
