Lyrics:
Flying through the city with the speakers up loud
Speedin’ by with the top down
Fast lane livin’ til they put me in the ground and I don’t wanna stop now
I’ll be gone with the click of a finger
Say the word the give a call I’ll be comin’ back around
Flying through the city I got God on my side
But the real world is not far
Push to the limit I’ll be burning all night gettin’ tailed by a cop car
Pull away wind blowin’ now I’m cruisin’
Put the past in the past, a new day is comin’

Ha-la-lay-la
We can ride
Four wheels you and I
Gotta get out of here Ha-la-lay-la
My savior
Ha-la-lay-la
We can fly
Out of this burning fire
Just take me anywhere
Ha-la-lay-la
My savior
Pedal down and drive
Drive
Pedal down and
Drive
Just drive

Out of the city now we’re switchin’ four lanes
Got our eyes on a fresh start
The world as we knew it that was caught up in flames
Get ready for the next part
You know I’m good if I’m back in the gutter
‘Cause this life it was never ‘bout the money

Ha-la-lay-la
We can ride
Four wheels you and I
Gotta get out of here
Ha-la-lay-la
My savior
Ha-la-lay-la
We can fly
Out of this burning fire
Just take me anywhere
Ha-la-lay-la
My savior
Pedal down and drive
Drive
Pedal down and drive
Drive
Pedal down and
Drive
Just drive
Pedal down and
Drive
Just drive
Pedal down and drive

This Sept. 15 to Oct. 15, NPR Music celebrates artists from all corners of Latinidad with an 'El Tiny' takeover.

Felix Contreras | September 23, 2025
Imagine the burden of not only being a well known and respected musician but also an indelible icon of your country's folk tradition. That is the mantle that Carlos Vives carries for his native Colombia. During his turn behind the Tiny Desk, he takes on the role with a deep sense of pride and musical mastery.

In 1995, Vives released La Tierra del Olvido, a landmark recording that introduced the world to Colombia's vallenato style. Thirty years later, this performance revisits some of those songs with a 12-piece band that barely fits in our space. The instrumentation of this band — featuring several members who have been with Vives for decades — reflects the influence of Europe (accordions), Africa (alegre drums) and Indigenous cultures (gaita). There's history in this music, all of which gets equal space during the fiery opener "La Cachucha Bacana" — there's even an electric guitar solo! Even when the music slows down, the deep-seated groove is impossible to resist.

#Alienantfarm #michaeljackson #smoothcriminal

Alien Ant Farm exploded into the mainstream in the summer of 2001 thanks to a song they never meant to rely on: their cover of Michael Jackson’s Smooth Criminal. The track became inescapable on radio and MTV, but it came with unintended consequences. The band spent years wrestling with being known primarily for a joke cover that was never meant to be a single, even briefly refusing to play it live. Behind that song sat Anthology, a diverse, ambitious record whose history reveals how four misfit musicians from Riverside clawed their way into the nu‑metal era without ever really fitting in.

I cite my sources and they may differ than other people's accounts, so I don't guarantee the actual accuracy of my videos.
