I’m at a party I don’t wanna be at
And I don’t ever wear a suit and tie
Wondering if I can sneak out of the back
Nobodies is even looking at me in my eyes
And then you take my hand, finish my drink, say shall we dance (hell yeah)
y’know i love you did I ever tell you, you make it better like that

Don’t think I fit in at this party
Everyone’s got so much to say
I always feel like I’m nobody
Who wants to fit in anyway

Coz I don’t care when I’m with my baby yeah
All the bad things disappear
And you making me feel that maybe I am somebody
I can deal with the bad nights when I’m with my baby yeah (ooh, ooh, ooh)
Coz I don’t care
As long as you just hold me near
You can take me anywhere and you making me feel like I’m loved by somebody
I can deal with the bad nights when I’m with my baby yeah

We at a party we don’t wanna be at
Trying to talk but we can’t hear ourselves
Read your lips I’d rather kiss ‘em right back
With all these people all around, I’m crippled with anxiety
But I’m told its where I’m supposed to be
You know what? It’s kind of crazy coz I really don’t mind
When you make it better like that

Don’t think I fit in at this party
Everyone’s got so much to say
When we walked in I said I’m sorry
But now I think that we should stay

Coz I don’t care when I’m with my baby yeah
All the bad things disappear
And you making me feel that maybe I am somebody
I can deal with the bad nights when I’m with my baby yeah (ooh, ooh, ooh, oh yeah yeah yeah)
Coz I don’t care, as long as you just hold me near
You can take me anywhere and you making me feel like I’m loved by somebody
I can deal with the bad nights when I’m with my baby yeah (oh oh oh oh, no)

I don’t like ‘bout nobody but you
It’s like you’re the only one here
I don’t like ‘bout nobody but you baby I don’t care

I don’t like ‘bout nobody but you
I hate everyone here
I don’t like ‘bout nobody but you baby yeah

Coz I don’t care (don’t care) when I’m with my baby yeah (oh yeah)
All the bad things disappear (disappear)
And you making me feel that maybe I am somebody (maybe I’m somebody)
I can deal with the bad nights (with the bad nights) when I’m with my baby yeah (ooh, ooh, ooh, oh yeah yeah yeah)
Coz I don’t care, as long as you just hold me near (me near)
You can take me anywhere (anywhere, anywhere) and you making me feel like I’m loved by somebody (loved by somebody yeah)
I can deal with the bad nights when I’m with my baby yeah (oh oh oh oh, no)

[Intro: Diddy and Mario Winans]
Hold up, let me answer my phone. Some bitch callin' me about some bullshit probably. I'ma call you right back, I'm doin' this mixtape right now. Now back to what I was sayin'...

I just can't believe this, man
It's just another night of these thoughts
Can't get this out of my head
Yeah

[Verse 1: Mario Winans]
Somebody said they saw you
The person you were kissing wasn't me
And I would never ask you
I just kept it to myself
[Chorus: Mario Winans]
I don't wanna know
If you're playin' me, keep it on the low
'Cause my heart can't take it anymore
And if you're creepin', please don't let it show
Oh, baby, I don't wanna know
Oh, oh, baby

[Verse 2: Mario Winans]
I think about it when I hold you
When lookin' in your eyes, I can't believe
I don't need to know the truth
Baby, keep it to yourself

[Chorus: Mario Winans]
I don't wanna know
If you're playin' me, keep it on the low
'Cause my heart can't take it anymore
And if you're creepin', please don't let it show
Oh, baby, I don't wanna know

[Bridge: Mario Winans]
Did he touch you better than me? (Touch you better than me)
Did he watch you fall asleep? (Watch you fall asleep, baby)
Did you show him all those things, that you used to do to me (Oh
Do to me, baby)
If you're better off that way (Better off that way)
Baby, all that I can say (All that I can say)
Just go on and do your thing and don't come back to me
(Oh, stay away from me, baby)
[Verse 3: Diddy]
I don't wanna know where your whereabouts or how you're movin'
I know when you in the house or when you cruisin' (That's right)
It's been proven, my love you're abusin'
And I can't understand how a man got you choosin' (Yeah)
Undecided, I came and provided
My undivided, you came and denied it (Why?)
Don't even try it, I know when you lyin' (I know when you lyin')
Don't even do that, I know why you cryin' (Stop cryin')
I'm not applyin' no pressure, just wanna let you know
That I don't wanna let you go (I don't wanna let you go)
And I don't wanna let you leave
Can't say I didn't let you breathe
Gave you extra cheese (C'mon), put you in the SUV
You wanted ice so I made you freeze
Made you hot like the West Indies (That's right)
Now it's time you invest in me
'Cause if not, then it's best you leave
Holla, yeah

[Chorus: Mario Winans]
I don't wanna know
If you're playin' me, keep it on the low
'Cause my heart can't take it anymore
And if you're creepin', please don't let it show
Oh, baby, I don't wanna know
If you're playin' me, keep it on the low
'Cause my heart can't take it anymore
And if you're creepin', please don't let it show
Oh, baby, I don't wanna know

If you're playin' me, keep it on the low
'Cause my heart can't take it anymore
And if you're creepin', please don't let it show
Oh, baby, I don't wanna know

Mustang Sally Guitar Lesson (Wilson Pickett) Hotney 7 Streams • 3 years ago

How to Play Mustang Sally on Guitar

THIS is a song that I struggled with learning for a while. It wasn’t the chords that I struggled with or the song form, those are both very common patterns. Where I got stuck was with the actual guitar part to play from the recording.

It sounded like one guitar but I couldn’t quite get my part to sound like the recording. So for years, I played this song on gigs with just a common rhythm accompaniment that wasn’t like the guitar part on the recording. It wasn’t until later I finally went back and figured it out from the recording. It’s actually TWO guitars.

In this “Mustang Sally” guitar lesson, I want to share with you the chords, rhythms, and scales to start jamming it with ease today! I’ll break down the guitar parts from the recording and share how you can combine them to play a great pattern for this song on one guitar.

Also, it’s a valuable song to know because it comes up at many jam sessions and parties. A lot of people play it!

So with that said make sure you’re tuned up and let’s dive in!

What is the meaning behind Mustang Sally?
“Mustang Sally” was originally written and first recorded by Mack Rice. Rice recorded it in 1965 and it was released under the artist name “Sir Mack Rice”.

The legend is that Rice had originally written the song as a joke for a fellow gospel singer he knew from Della Reese’s band who wanted a new Ford Mustang car.

Apparently, the original title of the song was “Mustang Mama”, but was later changed to “Mustang Sally” at the suggestion of Aretha Franklin.

I think that actually deserves songwriting credit if it’s true. That’s a nice contribution and makes the song pull more because it’s more specific. Unfortunately, from my research, it looks like she didn’t get credit.

The song later became more popular after Wilson Pickett covered it the following year. It was first released as a single, and then later included on his album The Wicked Pickett released in 1966.

Plus in 1966, John Lee Hooker also recorded an entirely different song with a very similar title “Mustang Sally & GTO”

Mustang Sally Chords
“Mustang Sally” only uses 3 chords. The song is in the key of C major and uses the I, IV, and V chords, C, F, and G.
