Evolution Of Diss Tracks [1986 - 2018] Hotney 6 Streams • 3 years ago

Evolution Of Diss Songs & The Best Diss Song Every Year - Hip-Hop Universe

Evolution Of Hip-Hop. Nothing says rap better than a good feud!
What's beef? Is it when your mom ain't safe up in the street? Or is it actually the fifth element of hip-hop? Dating all of the way back to when Big Bank Hank of the Sugar Hill Gang borrowed Grandmaster Caz's rhyme book and used his lyrics without credit on "Rapper's Delight," MCs have been feuding on and off wax for years.

Hip-hop is a culture built around machismo and bravado, so backing down or losing a battle could be detrimental to an artist's career. One slip-up and you could find yourself with a one-way ticket to obscurity. Certain MCs have built entire careers around beefing with other artists, while others have had their careers d*stroyed with just a couple lines. But what once began as two rappers simply battling over skill has turned into big business, with parody music videos, elaborate stage shows and entire albums dedicated to the coveted battle.

The ante is constantly being upped to keep the fans entertained, so lines will be crossed while artists strive to find unique and creative ways to slander their opponents. Mothers, women and children have all been involved, and in the YouTube era, a rapper just might show up to your house with a camera crew looking for a br*wl.

The best hip-hop songs of all time are those songs that touch our soul. They make us smile, laugh, cry, think, move and shake what our mama (or papa) gave us.

I traveled back four decades and dug through a pile of tunes to compile a list of the greatest songs hip-hop has ever witnessed.

Picking hip-hop's greatest songs is an incredibly difficult (and incredibly fun) undertaking, considering the various styles that have splintered the genre every way imaginable. Now 40 years old, hip-hop no more belongs to Bronx originators than it does to today's kids; its popularity has stretched to all corners, and the various mutations reflect that. Our picks reflect the songs that innovated, enlightened, delighted, and lasted. These are hip-hop tracks that, with any justice, our grandchildren will have on playlists that are implanted into their brains, or whatever.

Green Day - The American Dream Is Killing Me (Official Music Video) Hotney 6 Streams • 3 years ago

Saviors is an invitation into Green Day’s brain, their collective spirit as a band, and an understanding of friendship, culture and legacy of the last 30 plus years.

It's raw and emotional. Funny and disturbing. It’s a laugh at the pain, weep in the happiness kind of record.

Honesty and vulnerability.

What is Saviors about, you ask?

Power pop, punk, rock, indie triumph. disease, war, inequality, influencers, yoga retreats, alt right, dating apps, masks, MENTAL HEALTH, climate change, oligarchs, social media division, free weed, fentanyl, fragility,,..

What would Andy Warhol do?
What would John Waters do?
What would Quentin Tarantino do?

What would GREEN DAY do?

Saviors, out January 19th, 2024 http://GreenDay.lnk.to/saviors
The first single “The American Dream Is Killing Me” is out now http://GreenDay.lnk.to/TADIKM

LYRICS

The American dream is killing me
The American dream is killing me
When it’s all double talk of conspiracy
The American dream is killing me

Send out an SOS
It’s getting serious
Bulldoze your family home
Now it’s a condo

We are not home
Are we not home
God damn I am so grateful
Forever faithful to

The American dream is killing me
The American dream is killing me

People on the street
Unemployed and obsolete
Did you ever learn to read the ransom note

Don’t want no huddled masses
TikTok and taxes
Under the overpass
Sleeping in broken glass

We are not well
Are we not well
Cracked up into the wild
We’re pedophiles for

The American dream is killing me
The American dream is killing me
When it’s all double talk of insanity
The American dream is killing me

From sea to shining sea
Whitewashed upon the beach
My country under siege
On private property

We are not home
Are we not home
Kiss me I’m dead inside
Who needs suicide

When the American dream is killing me
The American dream is killing me
When it’s all double talk of insanity
The American dream is killing me

Lyrics:
You should take it as a compliment
If I were you, I would be more confident
You're lucky that you're pretty
Why are you obsessed with your appearance
I don't wanna hear it, you're fine

It's been my best kept secret for a while now
No one ever sees it but it's all around
Its the dinner conversation no one talks about
Don't know how much longer I can keep this down

Beauty is a knife, I've been holding by the blade
Swallowing my pride so I won't eat anything
It's all a lie
Honestly it's eating me alive
They're all like did you change your hair?
Did you lose a bit of weight?
You should keep it up cause it really looks great
I hate that I
Always look my best
When I'm dying on the inside
When I'm dying on the inside

I wish I could break the mirror
That makes me feel like I should fucking disappear
And drown my demons in a bathtub filled with tears
No matter what I try they always seem to come back to life

What if I didn't do this to my body?
What if I quit and then you don't want me
The dinner conversation no one talks about
Don't know how much longer I can keep this down

Beauty is a knife, I've been holding by the blade
Swallowing my pride so I won't eat anything
It's all a lie
Honestly it's eating me alive
They're all like did you change your hair?
Did you lose a little weight?
You should keep it up cause it really looks great
I hate that I
Always look my best
When I'm dying on the inside
When I'm dying on the inside
When I'm dying on the inside

You should take it as a compliment
If I were you I'd me more confident
You're lucky your pretty
Why are you obsessed?

I don't wanna hear it, You're fine

Pussycat - A Wet Day In September (1978) - Tros Top 50 • TopPop Hotney 6 Streams • 3 years ago

'Wet day in September' is a song by Pussycat. The group released it in 1978 as a single and the album of the same name. The song is written by Werner Theunissen. The single was produced by Eddy Hilberts and the arrangement came from Paul Natte.

Pussycat was a Dutch pop group from Brunssum in Limburg led by the three Kowalczyk sisters: Toni, Betty and Marianne. Other members of the band were Lou Willé (Toni's then-husband), Theo Wetzels, Theo Coumans, and John Theunissen. The band had four international hits in a row in the mid-seventies: Mississippi (1975), Georgia (1976), Smile (1976) and My broken souvenirs (1977) and then a series of hit singles in the Netherlands and Belgium. Mississippi was number 1 the Netherlands and in another 15 countries but was not hit in the US, where that river originates. 'Mississippi' achieved 22 gold records. It is estimated that "Mississippi" sold over five million copies worldwide. Most of of Pussycat's songs were written by Werner Theunissen.
This video was recorded by TROS Top 50 and first broadcast on August 1, 1978. All TROS Top 50 video's are of a lesser quality due to the origin on U-Matic tapes.

Nederlands:
