A new restoration and edit of live footage and high quality audio, from the Roxy Music Siren tour, recorded at Wembley in 1975.

•

The Roxy Music Siren tour commenced in the UK on October 2nd 1975. The tour ran for almost 6 months, including three dates in Scandinavia, and many shows in the US and Canada. Andy MacKay: “(In the States) we played mainly theatres which suited us. In the UK we were playing arenas, but the audience were great in both”.

Roxy’s Siren album was released on October 31st, 1975. Therefore, on many of the early shows of the tour, including all the UK dates, the audience had not heard the new material. Despite that, Roxy played much of the new album, often starting the set with two new songs, Sentimental Fool and Love is the Drug.

Love is the Drug became a hugely successful single for Roxy Music, reaching number 2 in the UK, and number 30 in the US charts. It has been said to have been a progenitor of future new wave and funk sounds and a big influence on acts such as Simple Minds, Gang of Four, Public Image Ltd. and the Human League. Nile Roger’s of Chic was hugely influenced by seeing Roxy on the Siren tour, and has stated that John Gustafson's bassline on Love is the Drug, was a major influence on his Chic classic, "Good Times". Love is the Drug also seems to point the way forward to the future Roxy of the Manifesto and Flesh and Blood eras.

•

It seems apposite timing to put out new Roxy Music videos now, with the band reforming for their upcoming 50th anniversary tour next month. Alas, the band aren’t coming to my part of the world, so I won't get to see one of the shows.

Since making a previous Roxy live at Wembley ‘75 video a few years ago [Both Ends Burning https://youtu.be/EB7z-FxeKyo] I’ve been wanting to create a better version of the Love is the Drug live video. The original clip has been on YouTube for many years, but the sound and edit aren’t that great. And moreover, the uploads have not been in very good quality. I finally found some okay sources to work with, and I have now been able to create something I’m quite satisfied with.

It has often been said that Roxy Music songs are better live than the original studio versions. I think that is very much the case here - the groove that Paul Thompson and John Gustafson lay down is absolutely killer, and Ferry's vocal is wonderful.

And the footage is great! Which begs the question - when will the Roxy powers-that-be release the complete footage from the Wembley ‘75 shows? Treasure such as this must not be left on the shelf! And if the footage needs editing, then Roxy HQ need look no further than Nacho’s Videos!

Anyway, in the meantime here’s one truly golden nugget from those shows.

Thanks for watching, I hope you dig it!

Lyrics:

I guess I’m crazy as you said I was
Been hearing voices I’ve been seeing stuff
Maybe that’s what all this missing you does
It’s messing me up

How you move on like that
Not one look back
On what it was
You got too gone too fast
No brakes all gas
I can’t keep up

You’ve been running through my mind
And you won’t slow down
Everywhere I go now
I’m meeting up with memories
That this Weller whiskey won’t drown
I still see your taillights
Burning through a dust cloud
Ever since you said goodbye
You’ve been running through my mind
And you won’t slow down

I took that faded picture off the dash
I threw out everything of you I had
That bar I met you in I don’t go back
But I still go back

To a Chevy and the moon on your skin in the summer
The midnight’s mixing with the color
Of your eyes looking into mine
After all this time

You’ve been running through my mind
And you won’t slow down
Everywhere I go now
I’m meeting up with memories
That this Weller whiskey won’t drown
I still see your taillights
Burning through a dust cloud
Ever since you said goodbye
You’ve been running through my mind
And you won’t slow down

How you move on like that
Not one look back
On what it was
You got too gone too fast
No brakes all gas
I can’t keep up

You’ve been running through my mind
And you won’t slow down
Everywhere I go now
I’m meeting up with memories
That this Weller whiskey won’t drown
I still see your taillights
Burning through a dust cloud
Ever since you said goodbye
You’ve been running through my mind
And you won’t slow down

Ever since you said goodbye
You’ve been running through my mind
And you won’t slow down

Two of R&B's smoothest leading men are going head-to-head in the ultimate ladies' night VERZUZ, as Grammy winner Tank squares off against actor-turned-platinum crooner Tyrese. Baltimore's own Tank built his reputation on raw vocal runs and slow-burn anthems like "Maybe I Deserve" and "Please Don't Go," while L.A.'s Tyrese had fans melting with silky cuts like "Sweet Lady" and "How You Gonna Act Like That."

You burden me with your questions
You'd have me tell no lies
You're always asking what it's all about, darlin' listen to my replies
You say to me I don't talk enough
But when I do I'm a fool
These times I've spent, I've realized
I'm going to shoot through and leave you
The things, you say
Your purple prose just gives you away
The things, you say
You're unbelievable (what the fuck?)
You burden me with your problems
By telling me more about mine
I'm always so concerned
With the way you say you've always go to stop to think of us
Being one is more than I ever know
But this time, I realize I'm going to shoot through and leave you
The things, you say
Your purple prose just gives you away
The things, you say
You're unbelievable (what the fuck?)
Seemingly lastless, don't mean you can ask us
Pushing down the relative, bringing out your higher self
Think of the fine times, pushing down the better few
Instead of bringing out the clues
To what the world and everything you answer to
Brace yourself with the grace of ease
I know this world ain't what it seems (what the fuck? Whoa man!)
It's unbelievable
You burden me with your questions
You'd have me tell no lies
You're always asking what it's all about, darlin' listen to my replies
You say to me I don't talk enough
But when I do I'm a fool
These times I've spent, I've realized
I'm going to shoot through and leave you
The things you say
Your purple prose just gives you away
The things you say
Is for what I love you more
The things you say
Your purple prose just gives you away
The things, you say
You're unbelievable (what the fuck?)
You're so unbelievable! (what the fuck?)
You're unbelievable
It's unbelievable (what the fuck?)
You're unbelievable

This is a video for the song Smokin' in the Boys Room by Brownsville Station. I had the honor of meeting Cub Koda back in the mid 80's, when he was in the Boston area to record on an album with The Rugbeaters called Pay to Play. He stayed overnight at my house during the recording so I truly saw him on a personal/off stage level. He was super cool but it was a brief visit overall, & I got to bump into him again in 1991 while he was doing a gig in Wakefield, Ma(just north of Boston). Cub passed on over 13 years ago but I never forgot the anthem he left. I hope you like the video. Enjoy!!!

Song lyrics:

WHEN I FIND MYSELF
IN TIMES OF TROUBLE
MOTHER MARY COMES TO ME
SPEAKING WORDS OF WISDOM
LET IT BE

AND IN MY HOUR OF DARKNESS
SHE IS STANDING
RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME
SPEAKING WORDS OF WISDOM
LET IT BE

LET IT BE, LET IT BE
LET IT BE, LET IT BE
WHISPER WORDS OF WISDOM
LET IT BE

AND WHEN THE
BROKEN-HEARTED PEOPLE
LIVING IN THE WORLD AGREE
THERE WILL BE AN ANSWER
LET IT BE

FOR THOUGH THEY
MAY BE PARTED
THERE IS STILL A CHANCE
THAT THEY WILL SEE
THERE WILL BE AN ANSWER
LET IT BE

LET IT BE, LET IT BE
LET IT BE, LET IT BE
YEAH, THERE WILL BE
AN ANSWER, LET IT BE

LET IT BE, LET IT BE
LET IT BE, LET IT BE
WHISPER WORDS OF WISDOM
LET IT BE

LET IT BE, LET IT BE
LET IT BE, YEAH, LET IT BE
WHISPER WORDS OF WISDOM
LET IT BE

AND WHEN THE
NIGHT IS CLOUDY
THERE IS STILL A LIGHT
THAT SHINES ON ME
SHINE UNTIL TOMORROW
LET IT BE

I WAKE UP TO
THE SOUND OF MUSIC
MOTHER MARY COMES TO ME
SPEAKING WORDS OF WISDOM
LET IT BE, HEE

YEAH, LET IT BE, LET IT BE
LET IT BE, YEAH, LET IT BE
OH, THERE WILL BE AN ANSWER
LET IT BE, HEE

LET IT BE, LET IT BE
LET IT BE, YEAH, LET IT BE
WHISPER WORDS OF WISDOM
LET IT BE...

►Letra:

Me siento emocionado

Si te burlas, no me enojo

Me siento emocionado

Si te burlas, no me enojo

Motörhead to release Under Cöver in September 2017
Covers compilation to include new version of David Bowie’s “Heroes”, (above)

ONE THING Lemmy Kilmister, Phil Campbell and Mikkey Dee liked to do over their years together in Motörhead, was grab a favourite song by another artist and give it a good old fashioned ‘Motörheading’. To run them through the Motörizer if you will. To rock them, roll them and even give them an extra twist and edge.

In celebration of some of those finest moments, the band will release Under Cöver, a collection of some of their best covers, and a collection which will include the previously unreleased version of David Bowie’s timeless classic “Heroes”. Recorded during the Bad Magic sessions in 2015 by Cameron Webb, and was one of the last songs the band recorded together.
“It’s such a great Bowie song, one of his best, and I could only see great things coming out of it from us, and so it proved to be,” says Phil Campbell, “and Lemmy ended up loving our version.”
“He was very, very proud of it,” says Mikkey Dee, “not only because it turned out so well but because it was fun! Which is what projects like this should be – fun!”

To that ethic, the rest of the album contains loud and proud, raucous and raging Rock ‘N’ Roll takes on the likes of “God Save The Queen” (Sex Pistols), “Cat Scratch Fever” (Ted Nugent), “Rockaway Beach,” (The Ramones), Breaking The Law” (Judas Priest) and “Whiplash” (Metallica) which earned the band a Grammy in 2005 for Best Metal Performance.
“We were happy with them at the time and we’re happy with them now!” affirms Campbell, whilst Dee says, “We should remember that it’s about having some fun with songs that we all loved.”

So there you are. If that doesn’t have you scrambling for your music delivery device, then check your pulse pronto. Or just start scrambling for a copy of Under Cöver immediately. You won’t be sorry.

LYRICS
Oh, her eyes, her eyes, make the stars look like they're not shining
Her hair, her hair, falls perfectly without her trying
She's so beautiful, and I tell her every day

Yeah, I know, I know, when I compliment her she won't believe me
And it's so, it's so, sad to think that she don't see what I see
But every time she asks me do I look ok, I say

When I see your face, there's not a thing that I would change
Cause you're amazing, just the way you are
And when you smile, the whole world stops and stares for a while
Because girl you're amazing, just the way you are. Yeah.

Her lips, her lips, I could kiss them all day if she let me
Her laugh, her laugh, she hates but I think it's so sexy
She's so beautiful, and I tell her every day

Oh, you know, you know, you know, I'd never ask you to change
If perfect's what you're searching for then just stay the same
So, don't even bother asking if you look ok
You know I'll say

When I see your face, there's not a thing that I would change
Cause you're amazing, just the way you are
And when you smile, the whole world stops and stares for a while
Because girl you're amazing, just the way you are
The way you are, the way you are
Girl you're amazing, just the way you are

When I see your face, there's not a thing that I would change
Cause you're amazing, just the way you are
And when you smile, the whole world stops and stares for a while
Cause girl you're amazing, just the way you are. Yeah.

Darell

2x Chorus
Te voy a meter caliente

2x Chorus
Te voy a meter caliente

Lyrics:
Giving Up:

Yesterday I woke up wanting to die
Haven’t seen the sunlight in some time
Seems like all the plants around me grow to the sky
All my roots are torn up all my leaves run dry
I’m not breathing unless it’s raining
Yea I found saving
In the cracks of the pavement
And I’m done with the misery
Yea I’m done faking tragedies
Cause I’m not giving up on me
I’m not giving up on me
And from dirt even flowers grow
In the dark night the moon still glows

I’m not giving up on me
I’m not giving up on me
I’m not giving up on me
I’m not giving up on me

Yesterday I woke up wanting to leave
Learning how to stand tall looking up to the trees
Maybe heaven has a halo waiting for me
Even fallen angels get to find their peace

I’m not breathing unless it’s raining
Yea I found saving
In the cracks of the pavement
And I’m done with the misery
Yea I’m done faking tragedies
Cause I’m not giving up on me
I’m not giving up on me
And from dirt even flowers grow
In the dark night the moon still glows

I’m not giving up on me
I’m not giving up on me
I’m not giving up on me
I’m not giving up on me
I’m not giving up on me
I’m not giving up on me
I’m not giving up on me
I’m not giving up on me
