Bang Em Smurf: How 50 Cent sent Him Back to The Hood & Bought Him Out Hotney 4 Streams • 3 years ago

Today we are talking about a man fairly well known within the Hip-Hop community but not necessarily for being an artist. A self-proclaimed gangster; Bang ‘em Smurf is quite an elusive character with very little in the way of a paper trail – but that’s probably due to his shady after-work activities. He grew up with 50 Cent and formed part of the original G-Unit posse before it was a rap group; messing with the rapper in the years before he took off. However the two had a falling out after 50 cleaned up his street image and signed with Shady Records; leaving his homies in Queens and ignoring Smurf when he was in jail. This led to a fairly-well publicized beef between the duo after Smurf got out with diss tracks coming from both sides. Bang ‘em teamed up with fellow former G-Unit artist Domination and they formed their own duo; founding a label and building it in an effort to rival G-Unit Records. Unfortunately while things were going well for him and it seemed Bang ‘em might become notorious and successful – perhaps the next Suge Knight but more on the low and less blacklisted; it all came crashing down after he was sent to jail to serve a 3.5 year bid. After serving his time; Smurf was immediately deported to Trinidad and Tobago; stalling his career once and for all. So with such a beef-feuled story; I hope you’re hungry – lets get into the video!

Lyrics:

I heard you calling, now my eyes are open
The day is breaking into powder blue
Sunlight is framing our every moment
What a way to start off the day with you

Flick a finger
Start a discussion to pick a singer
This one you’ll love it
I had to bring her
Just let the speakers take you away

And drop the needle on Dusty
Frost on the leaves like a lake
The moment came out of nothing
A beautiful smile on your face
Yesterday was a long night
But I got a feeling that the future is so bright
All of the pressure washed away in the low tide
But we got to wait ‘til our clothes are bone dry
So I’ll drop the needle on Dusty

We were lost within a stormy ocean
Nobody knew what we’re going through
We talk about it as we dip our toes in
Take a breath and brace for the waves with you

Flick a finger
Wait for the magic to do its thing yeah
There’s more than sadness we got within us
Let’s put some colour into the grey

And drop the needle on Dusty
Frost on the leaves like a lake
The moment came out of nothing
A beautiful smile on your face
Yesterday was a long night
But I got a feeling that the future is so bright
All of the pressure washed away in the low tide
But we got to wait ‘til our clothes are bone dry
So I’ll drop the needle on Dusty

Nothing static on the stereo before today
Both on the edge to throw it all away
I used to think that every situation stayed the same
But I can see it start to change, okay

Drop the needle on Dusty
Frost on the leaves like a lake
The moment came out of nothing
A beautiful smile on your face
Yesterday was a long night
But I got a feeling that the future is so bright
All of the pressure washed away in the low tide
But we got to wait ‘til our clothes are bone dry
So I’ll drop the needle on Dusty
Drop the needle on Dusty
Drop the needle on Dusty

About The Big Push: Brighton based band The Big Push consists of three front men Ren, Romain Axisa and Gorran Kendall and drummer Glenn Chambers. Drawing elements from classic brit-bands like The Beatles or The Police, they craft their clever modern arrangements into catchy pop tunes.

Playing rock n roll, with a crazed kind of energy and authentic sound, The Big Push met busking in Brighton. Coming from four fairly different backgrounds, they have managed to create an authentic and original sound.

The four-piece sold out their first ever official hometown show at Chalk last October, and followed up with a full-capacity o2 Academy Islington headline in March 2020, just before lockdown hit the UK. Over the last year the boys have created quite a buzz both nationally and to more worldwide acclaim amassing over 1.2 Million streams on Spotify and 12 Million views on YouTube. Having achieved such staggering success online, their fanbase now reaches across the world.
