Lyrics:
Do you get enough, get enough, get enough, get enough love
I wanna know
Baby, do you, do you, get enough, get enough, get enough, get enough love
Oooh

If the answer's no, you're not by yourself
There's others out there like you going through it too
Some are luckier than others when it comes to romance
Nothing is guaranteed
We're all taking a chance

Baby, do you, do you get enough, get enough, get enough, get enough love
I wanna know, I gotta know, I wanna know
Baby, do you, do you get enough, get enough, get enough, get enough love

If you know something's wrong with you
You better come see me, 'cause I'm ready, willing and able
To give you what you need, when you need, and oh, how you need it
Baby, anytime you need my love, you know I'm gonna give it to you

Sarah is accompanied by
Carl Schroeder - piano
Walter Booker - bass
Jimmy Cobb - drums

Let someone start believing in you,
let him hold out his hand
Let him touch you and watch what happens
One someone who can look in your eyes,
and see into your heart
Let him find you and watch what happens
Cold, no I won't believe your heart is cold
Maybe just afraid to be broken again
Let someone with a deep love to give
Give that deep love to you,
and what magic you'll see
Let someone with a deep love to give
Give that deep love to you.
and what magic you'll see
Let someone give his heart,
someone who cares like me
Let someone give his heart who cares like me

Pia Beck - Goody Goody - 1968 • World of Jazz Hotney 2 Streams • 3 years ago

Pia Beck was a natural on the piano. Without significant musical training she was asked in May 1945 as a pianist and vocalist in the Miller Sextet, with which she performed in Belgium, Germany, Sweden and the Dutch East Indies. In 1949 she started her own combo. Her first composition, 'Pia's Boogie', became an instant hit. In addition to tours through Europe, she had a permanent place in Scheveningen.

In 1952 she visited the United States for the first time, where she performed annually until 1964. She was made an honorary citizen of New Orleans and Atlanta. Colleague Oscar Peterson called her the best jazz pianist in the world.

In April 1965 she emigrated with her partner to the Costa del Sol, where she first started a piano bar. After the latter went bankrupt, she concentrated on writing travel guides and real estate. In 1975 she made her comeback as an artist in the Circustheater in Scheveningen. On September 18, 2003 (her 78th birthday) she said goodbye to the general public with a concert in restaurant Castellum Novum in Hilversum.
This performance is part of an AVRO tv special broadcast on December 17, 1968.

Ella Fitzgerald - Sweet Georgia Brown (live) - 8 march 1974 - Music All In• World of Jazz Hotney 2 Streams • 3 years ago

We publish this video to commemorate Ella Fitzgerald. This Monday, June 15, 2021, it is exactly 25 years ago that she passed away. Ella Fitzgerald is seen as one of the greatest jazz singers of all time.

"Sweet Georgia Brown" is a jazz standard and pop tune written in 1925 by Ben Bernie and Maceo Pinkard (music) and Kenneth Casey (lyrics).

Reportedly Ben Bernie came up with the concept for the song's lyrics - although he is not the accredited lyricist - after meeting Dr. George Thaddeus Brown in New York City: Dr. Brown, a longtime member of the State House of Representatives for Georgia, told Bernie about Dr. Brown's daughter Georgia Brown and how subsequent to the baby girl's birth on August 11, 1911 the Georgia General Assembly had issued a declaration that she was to be named Georgia after the state, an anecdote which would be directly referenced by the song's lyric: "Georgia claimed her - Georgia named her."

Ella Jane Fitzgerald (April 25, 1917 – June 15, 1996) was an American jazz vocalist with a vocal range spanning three octaves (D?3 to D?6). Often referred to as the "First Lady of Song," the "Queen of Jazz" and "Lady Ella," she was noted for her purity of tone, impeccable diction, phrasing and intonation, and a "horn-like" improvisational ability, particularly in her scat singing.

"East of the Sun (and West of the Moon)" is a popular song written by Brooks Bowman, an undergraduate member of Princeton University's Class of 1936, for the 1934 production of the Princeton Triangle Club's production of Stags at Bay. It was published in 1934 and soon became a hallmark of the Princeton Tigertones, one of Princeton University's all-male a cappella groups. The standard is also sung by the Princeton Nassoons, Princeton University's oldest a cappella group.

"East of the Sun" was first recorded by Hal Kemp for Brunswick Records on Dec. 1, 1934. A favorite song on campus, it has been arranged in many different formats, and continues to be featured on student group albums as recently as 2010. Since the 1950s the song has become a popular staple of many jazz musicians.

Lionel Hampton - Hamp's Boogie Woogie (Hey Ba-Ba-Re-Bop!) - 3 May 1974 • World of Jazz Hotney 2 Streams • 3 years ago

"Hey! Ba-Ba-Re-Bop" is a 1946 song by Lionel Hampton and His Orchestra. The song was credited to Hampton and his drummer Curley Hamner, although it was partly rewritten of Helen Humes’ hit “Be-Baba-Leba”. Once upon a time in the 1930's, Lionel Hampton (April 20, 1908 – August 31, 2002) together with Louis Armstrong and Lionel’s Orchestra were recording a new track together. This studio was also equipped with a vibraphone, which Hampton immediately played on after Armstrong asked him to do so. Hampton played the songs: “Memories of you & Shine.” Since this day, Hampton is called the first jazz vibronist of the world. The vibraphone wasn’t the only instrument Hampton mastered. Hampton was also well-known for his improvisation skills on several instruments. Some say Hampton created the start of rock and roll! Lionel Hampton was a jazz vibranist, pianist, drummer and bandleader. In 1992, he was inducted into the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame.

This unique performance was recorded for the Dutch TROS TV Program 'Music-All-In' on 3 May 1974.

Ella Fitzgerald - April In Paris - 25 august 1958 • World of Jazz Hotney 2 Streams • 3 years ago

Ella Fitzgerald (1917 – 1996) is probably one of the best scat singers in its history. She had a long-lasting and successful career of nearly 60 years, with her last performance being in 1993. She was a jazz fan from a young age. She had this magical voice which she could transform any sad lyrics into a happy melody. Even though she didn’t had too many reasons to be happy. During her childhood she had to deal with a very aggressive stepfather and her mother killed in 1932, she ran away to Harlem to live with her aunt. According to the New York Times, she also dabbled in criminal activities, which eventually put her in an orphanage. Luckily her career went less tough on her. She won 14 Grammy Awards and a Presidential Medal of Freedom during this period. “April in Paris” was composed in 1931 on a baby grand piano located in Boccino's 54th Street rehearsal hall. This baby grand piano is now owned by Michael Adams and many pianists have recently played “April in Paris” on the same piano which it was composed on. This video is digitized by Inn Archive from a 16 millimetre tele recording

Arguably the greatest drummer of all time, the legendary Buddy Rich exhibited his love for music through a dedication of his life to the art. His career spanned seven decades, beginning when Rich was 18 months old and continuing until his death in 1987. Also watch the 2nd concert James Brown did that same day, 11 July 1981during the North Sea Jazz Festival on 11 July 1981, held in the Congress center in The Hague.

This second concert is extraordinary and sees a James Brown that really gives everything to get the audience to their feet. The first concert that we published on 5 October 2017 which was recorded by AVRO Television earlier that 11th July 1981 saw a lame audience that did not know how to react. In this fantastic video we see what James Brown could do with any audience.
